very wholesome video
Wow, those fern pictures are beautiful
Excellent subject matter and great examples!
🌺🌻🌺 As you and others have said before, take the time to figure out what ones eye is actually catching within the whole of what your eye is seeing.... or something like that. I miss it often but thanks to cropping within software I can train myself to see what I was seeing and not all that my eye saw.
Great video and helpful advice. I made a video from a hike in a forest in sunlight and though the conditions were difficult 👍
Could be interesting but disturbing music in background
Thanks for the feedback 👍
Outstanding tips sir. I just purchased a Sony 16mm wide angle lens and I am looking forward to utilizing it's unique qualities.
OK, I have lived here forever... there are no "grand vistas", nothing exceptional and nothing much of interest. I've been all over my area in my 70 plus years. While I do take pictures where I can but its not much fun. Not very compelling views. hum drum to say the least. Oh well. carry on. Good video. Great points and made me think differently so maybe I can do better with my black and white next outing.
Wow Tom, awesome website with great looking tours! Thanks for the video.
Wonderful and inspiring😊
Hi Tomas, I have followed you from the beginning and always loved your videos... It is so sad to see the number of views staying low, I'm sure it would be higher if you were based in the UK. Have a good week
enjoying this ( thank you), until you suggested photo stacking = cheating / dishonest that what AIs do, they are false. If we do that, lets give the whole thing to a tin box AI and take the humanity out of photography. i will use lightroom to correct weaknesses in my camera's representation of what human eyes do with the world. that's enough.Use tools to express what i thought i saw.
Do you have to use the plate??? Or is the head Arca Swiss? I use an L bracket .. don’t want a plate
I also have an L bracket. The head is Arca Swiss compatible
The extra knob on the head, just below the arca Swiss clamp looks like it is for panoramas. No need for a levelling plate/ball, just get the camera level using the ball head , lock it tight. Then pan the camera around by loosening that extra knob. Or perhaps it’s designed for another purpose?
I didn't use it yet. For me it serves the same function as the rotation of the head
Thank you... and just in case I miss you not using it ever again, feel free to point that out somehow or in some way. Note: I am indeed in the market for a new tripod, but have been considering a geared head over a ball head. Sure... weight... but.
Thanks for this. It was inspiring. 🖤🤍
Wonderful video learnt a lot .Keep them coming .
I like the shot at 5:23. Nice mood.
Thanks Toma. Our spring is just beginning and will look better in a week or two. Your video inspired me to look for the opportunity to get out and photograph.
Thank you for your videos, I really enjoy them. You take nice photos as well. If you spend good time alone in the woods it is impossible to not fall in love…
Great photos
Very nice. Spring comes to sudden 🙂👍
Great video!
Genius.... Thankyou❤
Multumim
Every living creature on this planet, every living tree, bush, shrub and flower is part of the fabric of the tapestry that forms life on Earth. We as human beings the sooner realise this the better for us and for this unique jewel of a planet in the galaxy. I sometimes get close to tears thinking what we are doing to each other and to ths planet in the name of commerce, money, greed, power or ideology. You mentioned Adams. He championed conservation by his unsurpassed photographs of the natural landscape when conservationism was neither fashionable nor that anyone cared. We need people like him now more than any other time. Beautiful photography and very nice video. Thank you.
For me it is also a crime to deforest a large area with large 'harvesters' to make profit. Trees are huge living beeings, always friendly, give living space and food for many animals, they plan for the next year, react on their surroundings, and when they get into a skew position or partially break off, they try to counterbalance or cast out new branches or a new stem, and fight to survive. And when they realise that they cannot defeat death anymore, they produce as much seeds as possible for the next generation. In the vicinity of the town where I live are huge areas completely deforested and this looks to sad, ugly, and shocking. It is at least good to know that other people feel the same way and get motivated to fight for nature reservation.
Asa se intampla cand un "presedinte" este PUS, sa serveasca interestele altora, si NU ALES! Se intapla si la case mai mari! Anyway I did enjoy the beautiful pictures and will I try not to forget to turn around and check my back for alternative perspectives. Great video Tom!
🙏
Some great woodland there still. I know the feeling when familier forest areas suddenly is gone. Not a good one
🙏
I feel the same when it turns out that my favorite forest place is gone. But that's what photography is for, to capture places and moments that change...
I know everything changes but I didn't wanted this to change. This place ia like home, where I always return and feel welcome
Deforestation is affecting all parts of the world it seems 😢😢
🙏
Beautiful photos, but you should get a decent printer. Printing your photos on A3+ paper or bigger, is just a way to fall in love again with your work.
What app are you using for your phone to recalculate the shutter times
Exposure Calculator
Why, oh why, oh why that bloody annoying background music. I watch youtubes for information. If I want to listen to music TO MY TASTE I will turn on the radio or get some iTunes. You have a foreign accent plus that audio quality is poor. So in contradiction to your message to keep the foreground simple you introduce noise into the audio track. Do you think I'm going to get bored because there is no sound in the brief moment when you pause to take a breath? I am not criticising you for having a foreign accent but adding extraneous complications to the already poor audio track is just poor production.
Very nice and helpful video 👍
Thank you - much appreciated. I understand he now or did live in Seattle, is that correct?
I tend to gravitate towards woodland portraiture when I'm out. In my area, the woodlands are so overgrown and crowded that you can't get a nice shot with full depth of field unless there's very heavy fog. Creating that separation between a single tree and everything behind it is doable if you use panoramas with low apertures. This is because when you get close and use a wide aperture, and then do a panorama, you effectively end up with a wider aperture than you would normally get with a wider lens that can capture the final stitched image. I enjoy using this technique for waterfalls too... nobody does that.
Thanks, I am planning an outing with my own 50mm prime, which has become quite a photo bag queen, seldom attached to my camera as it is far to easy to just use toe 24-70mm.
Great video, love the panoramas
Nice video and tips 👍🙂
Good use of panorama. The explanation was valuable. Thank you.
nice video thankyou!
I still have my 17-40 f/4L from my Canon 20D days, I'm happy to see I'm not the only one still using this nice lens. For my APS-C cameras it served as my general-purpose lens. Also from my 20D days I still have the 70-200 f/4L non-IS. I just got my first full frame (R8) and soon thereafter bought the RF 24-105 f/4L because I realized I was now missing a good general purpose landscape and travel lens. I'm happy to see a photographer of your caliber endorsing the trio of what I already have!
Hey,to maximum the damage?....sorry...litle mistake in your video.....but i like it anyway.🤭😊
Good work Tom, the origins of photography, and the mainstay for many decades has always been a physical print. I chose a high res camera, in the end, for that reason. Online images require far less resolution of course. There are not that many large prints that I make but they are so impressive. Wise words, thank you.
Nice video, Toma! Useful advices! I noticed you use a telephoto lens (70-200mm I think) of EF mount on your RF Canon camera, right? There is any image quality drawback, or the EF mount lens is slower in focus comparing with RF native lens? I suppose not really for landscape. But how about portraits? Could be the EF mount lens a good choice used on RF camera (with adapter, of course)? Thx!
I fidn't had any problems. What I can say for sure is that EF lrns work better on my mirrorless than on my dslr
Very useful tips - thanks Tom!
Thanks for your time
🌺🌻🌺 Thank you
Thanks, Tom. That is good foundational advice, especially for photography.
