    Hi I have just purchased a tesla powerwall 1 and it was missing the gateway I'm not sure how to wire it up yet I then bought a gateway it said in the description non back up is this gate the bit I need to enable me to see either on my laptop or my phone the stats of the battery and do you know the difference between back up gateway and non back up my plan is to charge the battery with my solar panels and run a few sockets of the battery as a separate circuit to my main supply

    • @teslamike7476
      @teslamike7476 Před 2 měsíci

      The backup vs non back up is the location where you install the gateway and powerwalls. If you install your gateway between the meter and your load center, then you can enable back up mode as the gateway will monitor your power usage and can off set that by sending power from the powerwall.

    • @BREN2009
      @BREN2009 Před 2 měsíci

      @teslamike7476 Thank you very much for the reply I understand that now I don't have much idea at the minute on how to wire it up I am searching online to try find what connects where from battery to the gateway I bought the battery and have just bought the gateway for it so can I connect the solar panels to the battery and from the battery to an inverter as a stand alone system or is the battery ac 240v mains input only? Which im guessing it is I wish I had a simplified wiring diagram

    • @teslamike7476
      @teslamike7476 Před 2 měsíci

      @BREN2009 what I did is I connected my battery into the load center with a 32 amp breaker and 6awg wire (over sized the wire). Then from the powerwall I ran a 16 gage 6 wire to the gateway. Thats how the gateway talks to the powerwall to tell it to charge or discharge. The gateway sits between my electrical meter and my load center. Where I removed the 0000 aluminum wires from the service panel, and plugged those into the gateway. I then ran new wires from the gateway to the service panel. That put me into “back up mode” as the solar panels feed a breaker that’s in my load center. You do need to run CTs to your solar wires which then plug into your gateway so the gateway knows when power is being generated from the panels.

    • @BREN2009
      @BREN2009 Před 2 měsíci

      @teslamike7476 Thank you so much. Honestly, you are the only person so far I have talked to that knows about the wiring. What do you mean by load center? Is this my house consumer unit with the breakers in? or what ever load im powering ? Also The 2 heavy quick connect connections on the battery circuit board are damaged so I will have to source and re solder 2 new ones on I have tested with my multimeter the heavy cable coming out of the battery and it was showing something like 4v then crept down to 0 so either the cells are totally discharged or some are damaged or maybe the battery isolates internally when the board is unplugged? I'm not sure I hope once connected it will charge back up I see 2 push buttons on the battery circuit board is this a safety isolter switch once the cover is removed? I'm confused i see a sticker that says the battery is 50v and on a youtube video It says this battery is 500vdc so is it 50v or 500v? Me thinking it was relatively safe to play with, but 500v, I'm sure I'd get a nice belt off that if not careful I can rewire a house so I have an understanding of how to not get shocked learned the hard way at the minute I have the battery circuit board removed and the gateway but I'm not sure how to connect them together if I took a video would you show me how to wire it or message me on WhatsApp or email I will pay you if you will show me how to wire it so could I connect it to my mains so it will use the solar power day time and then solar battery on a night and it will knock my electric bill down without having to mess around with professionaly installation certificates or of that's too messy just a stand alone system the same but connected to its own isolated circuites in the house to say run my lights sockects apart from my oven microwave kettle any that takes lots of power

    • @teslamike7476
      @teslamike7476 Před 2 měsíci

      Try testing your sensors and see if you find a failed sensor. It’s more than likely unplugged.
