Propagating a Hoya Carnosa from a Leaf
It took two years but it finally sprouted a new leaf. This is a video about how I propagated a Hoya Carnosa from a leaf. I put it in some regular potting soil and added some bark. I watered it sparingly keeping in mind that if I over watered it that the leaf might rot. I kept the soil more on the dry side to be honest. Now two years later the leaf has established some roots and new growth. It's pretty exciting. As a plant person this is the kind of stuff that gets me excited. Thanks for watching. I hope you live alone in your apartment because of the mess you made unnecessarily. First, when transplanting anything, please protect the table you are doing it on with a plastic bag. Second, if the plant you want to transplant has no roots at all, you must first cut it shorter and put it in water until it grows roots. You obviously don't like plastic for some reason, but plastic pots are way better than ceramic ones. In addition, you have chosen a pot that is too big for such small plants. And in the end, you watered them so much that it was a real crime! Good luck, but my advice is plastic pots and less watering if you keep tradescantias exclusively in the apartment. Mine are outside and flourishing, and in the summer they drink like crazy, but I never water them before checking if the soil is dry or humid with soil meter which can reach the bottom of the pot. Good luck, but this was really hard to watch, poor plants.

Hi thanks for the comment. No I don't have time for any of that. I just sell plants locally on Facebook Marketplace.

It's been a tough plant for me to grow as well.
This plant is a vine. If placed on a trellis or wood lattice, the plant would grow upward if placed in south facing or east facing window. I wouldn't have planted it in such a deep pot. This plant needs to dry out. I forget about it plenty of times. The red version, called Purple Heart grows like weeds. It is growing in my aviary and won't die regardless of how I neglect it. Plan on making a video on Bubblegum Tradescantia. The cuttings can be placed directly in soil. Doesn't need to have roots.
Do you need a license to sell plants?
Not that I know of. But I assume once you start making some real money selling plants the government will want you to register a business and pay tax. I would suggest looking up tax and business policy in your area to learn more.

It's really different depending on where you are. Best advice I can give you is to check your local markets and see what the local prices are.

Have you tried shipping them to individuals who purchase them? Or just meet up with?
So far I just do Facebook marketplace. I've been toying with the idea of shipping plants but my full time job is photography and I'm hoping that starts to pick up now that things are opening up again. Once it does shipping out plants will be something I won't have time for.

How do you price them considering pothos are getting more and more common and hardware stores sell them at super low prices? I've had my Pothos on FB marketplace for a week now and getting no offers..
I think that pothos are not a good plant choice. "Everyone" has one. People wants more difficult plants to find: variegated string of hearts, peperomia watermelon, string of turtles, booby cactus are the plants I sell super fast
I keep it pretty low. $4 -$5 nothing crazy. People buy them up pretty steady. But they are easily available just about everywhere.
This is true people like all sorts of plants. It really depends on their skill level. A lot of people want a plant they can't kill easily and Pothos is great for that.
What size fillers/pots do you use and where did you get them from?!
I think they are 4 inch pots. I find a pack of 25 at the dollar store of $2 in the spring and summer so I buy a bunch of them. :)

Where do you get the dirt?
You can get the dirt anywhere. Local plan shop, big box store order it on amazon. Just look for potting soil.
How long does it take to grow?
These plants grow pretty quick. maybe two or three weeks for the roots to really take hold.
Do you sell any other plants? If so, what are your top sellers? How long generally is from propergation to selling?
It takes about a month to propagate depending on conditions. They like tropical conditions. I don't really sell much other than this. This is just a side hustle till my real work picks up again.
