Yes, I know the problem and it´s getting worse since both high quality headlights as well as led-bars are getting even more expensive. When it comes to headlights I´ve headed from manufacturers that there´s a way to make them unusable on the wrong vehicle. But on the other hand, when the thief realise this it´s to late...

The advantage of the matrix-lights is when you are meeting another vehicle or have another vehicle in front of you. A normal dipped beam means that the headlamps doesn´t give much light on the left side (if you're in a country with right hand drive. Matrix only dims a small area where the other vehicle is. There´s no, or very little difference in high beam.

So, is there an advantage to having a lens? I don't have a lens in my car.

@@beyhun It depends on your driving. I do a lot of nighttime driving in areas with wild animals so for me it´s an advantage. Day to day commuting in urban areas, no advantage

Well, I guess that I know better what's beneath the snow, since I drove the car. Offroading for me is more than fooling around in a mud pool. It is using my car where I need to use it and here is the problem that the frozen surface brakes and I need the sturdy built axles, differential lockings and the well tuned suspension to cope with it.

@@Bilresor Thanks for your reply. That would still be illegal here in Australia, and I would recommend you avoid any distractions while driving in conditions that you yourself described as very dangerous. Both hands on the wheel. 🙂

I get your argument but the chances are this man grew up and learned driving in this weather his whole life, places that are sunny often come to a halt when they see slight moister on the road due to lack of experience in wet weather conditions.@@GrenadierMichael

@@svenljung8009 My point did not really relate to the speed. I would argue that manipulating a phone/camera while driving at any speed in any conditions is a distraction. That why it’s illegal in most countries. 🙂

There's a big difference between different brands when it comes to delay but my experience is that IQ-Light, Matrix or any other similar systems works better than normal automatic highbeam/lowbeam switch. The problem is worst for trucks and busses where the driver is high above the headlights. In that situation I prefer manuell highbeam/lowbeam switch.
