VW Air Cooled New Style Thermostat Install and Test
These new thermostats available for the VW air cooled Type 1 engine are a beautiful piece! Nicely finished and function precisely when I tested with the heat gun. At a certain temp they open quickly and solidly. A nice improvement on the old design, and now they do not need the cage around them to keep aligned as it opens and closes.
The first step is to drill out the two spot welds on the bracket and remove the cage. Then I found the bracket didn't line up properly with the stud on the block (even tho I screwed the thermostat all the way up the flap rod) so I found a fine thread (8mm x 1.0 pitch) bolt and cut a piece of it to extend the thermostat stud using the provided brass nut to couple the studs ending up with about a half inch protruding to use to mount to the bracket with a couple flat washers on each side and another fine thread nut. The only problem with this idea is the thermostat hangs down lower than originally and could foul the tin sled piece below.
Let me know in the comments below if I could have tweaked this install. One thing I may do is screw the thermostat on the rod further, moving it up slightly which would move the assembly up slightly as well as open the flaps more in the hot position (possibly).

Just got my yesterday. Waited 2 months for it. Cannot get it flush against the back wall. I noticed yours appears like that too. Have you figured a way to get it flush in the back against the wall?
I just viewed this video and it's very helpful. I just had my Samsung range delivered. I purchased mine at a Home Depot and everything was included. I can't wait to try this feature.
we've had ours for a month, makes great fries, did some wings and tempura battered shrimp, it has performed really well, gonna try some whole potatoes tonight

Dunno but I’m sure of one thing and that is when I park my car there is plenty of hot air escaping from the engine compartment. I used to prop the engine lid open when I parked but now I don’t have to!

Does the range need to come temperature? My range usually shows progression of temp then signals when temp is arrived. Not so in the air fryer setting.
Yes it will show the temperature gradually rise starting at 175 degrees, same as the other settings. If you get the Samsung app it will notify your phone when it’s ready to cook! Next set the cook timer and it will again notify your phone when time’s up and then it will safely shut itself off too! I love that!!

Does your airfry take 10 minutes to preheat? Airfry does not seem any different from convection.

No that not gonna work cuz your rack will get soiled so why can’t you put in on the cookie sheet
The cookie sheet will block the hot air from circulating evenly around the food. That’s the nice part about the air fryer tray! Food cooks evenly without the need for flipping it. 😊
I bought this range; one like it. It was advertised to have the air fry with it. I go to Lowe's they don't have it with the same model that said it did. So, my temper made me just walk out of there. I ended up buying the rack from Amazon. Can anyone tell me where to buy the one like is being used in the video? I love this and want to make sure air frying doesn't become a chore. Old school here but wanting to get outside that comfy box. lol. I have the Samsun range the works with wifi; we bought it 3 months ago. It has self-clean and steam clean also if that helps with the model. Or...are they pretty much interchangeable and will fit universally with the racks?
What model of washer/dryer do you have? We are looking at this model (WF45R6100AP/US) and we find mixed reviews… so I would like to know if it is this model and if you like it. And I can see the usefulness of the app… especially if your washer/dryer are downstairs in the basement… that was my problem in our previous house, I would forget the laundry in the dryer and it was wrinkled.

If you buy an amazon air fry tray, it comes with cookie-like-tray underneath the air fry rack. Works without oven mess, but not as well because you need more space between the air fry rack and the tray for better air circulation. I bought the samsung rack also. If you spray the rack with cooking spray (while its in cookie sheet) then put the rake in the oven on one rack with cookie sheet in rack below and warm up for 5 minutes, then take out rack and add food, there will be little or no mess to clean up. I don't flip the food which also keep rack mess to minimum. Lowering temperature to 350-400 will help inside of food cook as well as outside of food.

Let’s say someone at home leaves the stovetop burner on and walks away forgetting to turn it off. Will it notify you via your app? And if you were out of the house at work for instance could you turn everything off remotely?
Good questions! Yes and no. The stovetop has physical controls that the app cannot over ride, BUT you can see if it is on or off (any or all burners) using the app. For the oven YES you can set up a mode like bake at 350 for 30 mins but then have to physically press the button on the stove to START the routine. You can STOP the oven at anytime using the app since the oven has digital control. Nice engineering!

Why does it smoke the house up when using the air fryer
Looks hard to clean. If nothing else, it's a nice wire rack for cooling cookies. A neighbor bought this range. Maybe I can prevail on her to make Mom's Latkes.
People with a large property who are out in their garden or other yard duties can get notified that the wash is done.. mYbe your sitting pool side or back nine.. i d k. Works for me

Can you start a cycle using the app though?
Yes you can although I haven’t tried it myself.
How is the cleanup of the tray?
It wasn’t bad. I used cooking spray before. Then running water and a dish washing brush did the trick. It’s discoloured now of course but no big deal.
Where do you get your time & temps on the air fryer in the Samsung?

being able to remoteley start washing is only use case i can see for a wifi washer. You can load ur washer night before, go work all day, then tell it start washing say hour before u come home so its ready go in dryer when u ghet home. If it cant do that, ITS USELESS.
Delayed start function has already built into the Samsung machines. When you physically put the clothes into the machine, you have the option to select the wash mode AND the delayed start time right on the panel. On the other hand, in Samsung SmartThings app, one can set all the functions available on the physical panel, PLUS： 1. See the exact time the washing/drying process will be finished. E.g. "Finish at 1:37pm ". 2. Assistance function which you will answer few questions regarding what types of and how many clothings you have thrown into the machine, it will then recommend you the best setting for washing or drying, if you are satisfied, touch "Start" in the app to begin the process. These two functions are even more useful with the washer/dryer 2-in-1 model. 😊
can you remotely from your phone turn the washing machine on? That is the only worthwhile use case i can see from having a wifi washer in terms of specifically buying one for the feature. As for a dryer i see ZERO benefit of having wifi. Because who puts wet clothes in the dryer then tells it to start drying at a later time.

We actually just got this set, and I was curious about the app, you’re not wrong, starting the washer so it’s done when you get home helps the flow, but I guess if you had clothes in the dryer already, you could start a steam/dry cycle to get the wrinkles out (just means you have to run it again though, not ideal, but ok). Other than that, getting a notification that the washer/dryer are finished is pretty nice, as long as you can’t hear it, or have the chimes off. You nailed it though, if this was why I picked the model, I’d be very disappointed, but it was just a feature that was on the set my wife liked. 😂

I’m in Toronto Canada and the furniture appliance chain The Brick had it. Any retailer that handles Samsung appliances should be able to order one for you.

It really helps. Not only while driving, but also much less heat soak into the wiring etc. after parking the car. My under hood turbo heats it up like a pizza oven!

Just recently got this stove and tried to air fry two steaks. I had a stone cookie sheet underneath to catch all the grease. When I opened the door a huge puff of smoke came out and the grease on the cookie sheet was burning. The steaks were nowhere near done. Any recommendations?
Gee, I had not thought of trying to air fry steak! If that’s the result then try using the Broil feature which is the conventional heating element at the top of the oven, rather than the air fryer feature. Let us know the results!
