I tried going to college for the first time at 36 even though I’m 1. Broke 2. Have chronic pain 3. Lots of emotional trauma 4. Live alone It was actually like walking uphill both ways in the freezing cold (10 deg in Jan! In Alabama!) And the parking there is not great so I would have to walk for blocks. The buses were confusing. It took me a while to figure them out. I cried a lot I would come home and just collapse and not move for an hour and then get up and do homework Eventually, it was just too much between work in school and money and my chronic pain But it was AMAZING. I LOVED IT and I learned so much… Not just from class, but I learned about what works and what doesn’t work. And if I decide to go back, I’ll know a lot of things to do different So if anyone out there is hesitating because you’re afraid… Just fucking do it. Grit your teeth. Cry. Keep climbing. I think the lie that we’re told in the society is that we should chase comfort and good feelings. But nothing really gets done if everyone is comfortable and feels good. I've never owned a smartphone, and I don't currently have a cell phone. Part of the reason I've refused to get one is I know it would suck me in and become a barnacle on my mind. I've also never had a facebook, twitter, reddit, tiktok, or instagram account. I do sometimes comment on youtube videos though. I'm working on that one.

4 months sober, after 17 years of drinking and at least 10 years of being drunk almost every single Friday (I had to have two days to recover, ironically I couldn't withstand alcohol like at all). I was definitely on my way towards full blown alcoholic. My dads brother was an alcoholic and died from it, hopefully now I avert similar fate as I stopped drinking at the ripe old age of 35!
