    Been running for more than 3 years. Up until now I am still running, and I mostly likely still running for the upcoming years. I love the joy that running been providing me. I am pretty sure that others feel the same too. The longest distance that I able to run was 70km. I hope that this pandemic ends so that we, in the Philippines, could start competing in some fun runs.

    People have different experiences running. I'll say this much in my experiences it doesn't feel as good until I get past 1 mile about then it feels better. So if you cross a slump there can be a reward on the other side if you keep pushing. Stay hydrated, carb load and make sure to plant your feet the right way to prevent Injury. Have a good day people :) running and jogging is great.

    Running is about activating the organic machinery called the the human body. That one can go distances, the very fundamental need of life, with that machinery despite the pain and the bodily punishment gives a very different kind of satisfaction and a feeling of achievement to the one who does it. While fighting with the pain you are at the same time finding and learning new ways to cope with other problems in your life (as Dean Karnazes put it). Lot of oxygen going to your brain is another side effect. And the fact that this feeling comes out of nowhere when you run is the very motivation for one to keep doing it. It is free and is out there when you want it. As simple as that. The other important thing for the new starter is: Do not run to punish your body, run to learn how to deal with the difficulties. You will gradually improve over time and will not believe what you can achieve compared to the times when you first started.

    Part of me wonders if the population of runners is increasing because more and more people are searching for something a bit more basic. Something that doesn't require a ton of equipment and something that has the capability to clear mental clutter. Running is amazing, my life wouldn't be the same without it.

    I started running late in my mid 30's.I wished i had started in my 20's but that's another story. Suffering from Asthma i knew it was the only way of controlling this terrible affliction so i started running 20 yards then walking 20 yards and feeling terrible,i was so unfit. I kept going,wearing the wrong shoes and nearly breaking my ankle in the dark. Now i went to a sports shop and bought a pair of ASICS which were expensive but good. I kept going, suffering tendon and shin splints.Then I met a real runner and shop owner and bought some great kit (Brooks + Ron Hill) and got very good advice ..i ran/walked every Saturday in bad weather only now in my mid 40's i can do 5k's no problem and 10k's if i have time every Saturday.I know many people are better than me but i have bettered myself through running and now forward to the weekends.

    I run year-round. From spring to fall, I add cycling. If injured, cycling is better. However, endurance cycling will give me blisters. And when that happens, cycling is suspended. Running is probably the least expensive sport.

  • @MrTrack412

    I know that you were not addressing me but I must protest. God is blamed for everything man/woman does wrong. We have minds and can decide what the best course of action is to do in any given situation. If anything God lends us a helping hand with the holy scriptures. Medical books do not tell the surgeon everything he must do in a given situation just as cooks must allow for temperature, climate changes, etc. The cookbook does not tell all. But cookbooks and medical books are guides for life or at least those disciplines. "All you say can be trusted; your teachings are true and will last forever." Psalm 119.160 HOWEVER WE MUST STILL THINK FOR OURSELVES. WE MUST USE THE GIFTS GOD GAVE US: BRAINS, PHYSICAL RESOURCES, OTHER PEOPLE, ETC.,

    I wonder, if one only runs for the joy of winning races, what will they do once they start finishing second or worse? I think those kids need to find their motivation from something less shallow than victories.

      @schizoidman7916 Před 9 lety

      There is nothing wrong with wanting to win and enjoying it when you do. A loss just motivates you to work harder for the next challenge. No one who has "ONLY" beatng others as their goal get very far. I don't think anyone in the videosaid that it was either.

      ***** I feel like most people race against themselves.. For some it will be attempting to finish before the cutoff; for others, it will be contention for victory. My point of view is it just depends where that race against yourself takes you.
