Cool Gyroscopic Training Tool
This is a Gyroscopic Training Tool that I made on my mini lathe out of bronze, brass and stainless steel. It's not a Gyroscope!
I just used a commercial Gyroscopic Training Tool and replaced every part of it step by step with the part that I made.
The commercial Gyroscopic Training Tool are sold under many names: eg. Dynabee, Powerball, GyroTwister, NSD Spinner, NSD Power, RollerBall, Bushido Ball, RotaDyn, Spin Ball, Timmi Ball, Twister Maxx or Gyro Exerciser.

My first 3D printed metal part
zhlédnutí 7KPřed 5 lety
This is my first 3D printed metal part. I designed it with Designsparc Mechanical (a free CAD program) and sent the STL files to Shapeways to produce it. The purpose of this metal part is to reenforce the connection of two wooden handrails in my brothers house. Surely over engineered for this purpose, but it was a good way to try out this technique.
Red hot glowing 16 Cylinder Stirling Engine
zhlédnutí 80KPřed 5 lety
Here I show a 16 Cylinder butan powered Stirling Engine that I ordered from china. Although it looks like an aircraft engine it is just a desktop toy. Stirling engines have a way to low power / weight ratio to be useful in (model) aviation applications. What makes it special is its unconventional swashplate design and its awesome jet engine look.
Unbelievable startup of a 2 Cylinder Stirling Engine
zhlédnutí 562KPřed 5 lety
Here I want to show you the awesome start up of of a 2 cylinder Ringbom Stirling engine. It's a Ringbom Stirling engine that I bought from AliExpress. A Ringbom engine is a Stirling engine where the displacer piston has no direct connection with the crankshaft. Instead it is moved by changes in the air pressure.
The Moonwalking Rings

Here are my magnetic magic rings. Because of their at first sight confusing and irritating motion, I called them the "Moonwalking Rings", a silly analogy to the famous dance move.
Desktop Stirling Model Airplane Engine
zhlédnutí 88KPřed 5 lety
This is a Ringbom Stirling engine that looks like a Nitro plane engine. It can't be used as a real model engine because it has a way too small power to weight ratio and of course the open flame would be blown out if you was used in the plane. It's a nice desktop toy that demonstrates the function of a Stirling engine.
Could this be refined to a phone charger?

This is a free piston Ringbom Stirling Engine that I bought from Aliexpress. Its so simple and quiet that maybe a bigger and optimised version could be used as a phone charger or emergency power generator.

Two Types of Impossibility

Here are my two impossible dovetails. I made them on a SIEG SX2 table mill out of brass and aluminium.
The Impossible Screw will drive you nuts.
zhlédnutí 684KPřed 5 lety
Welcome to my impossible screw. It's a small project you can do in your home shop even if you don't have a milling machine or lathe. A hacksaw and a file will do. It also makes a nice last minute present. If you try this I recommend to try it first with a brass screw. It's very important to deburr it carefully. Otherwise it will be locked in both directions. If you give this away I recommend to...
Huge Vacuum Engine with Glass Cylinder
zhlédnutí 8KPřed 5 lety
I bought this Vaccum Engine (aka flame-licker engine, flame-engine, flame-dancer) on Ebay. Although obviously produced commercially it didn't work. I adjusted the linkage of the engine, opened the intake from 6.5 to 9.5 mm and reduced the diameter of the piston slightly. After lubricating it with Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) powder it worked.
6 Cylinder Engine with Only 5 Moving Parts
zhlédnutí 20KPřed 5 lety
Here's an "Elbow Engine" that I made very loosely based on the plan in the July 1965 issue of Popular Mechanics and on Julius de Waal's plan that I found on a model engineering website. It is very simple but has to be machined very precisely. It's made out of brass, stainless steel, aluminium and delrin.

Super Hero V2 Stirling Engine
zhlédnutí 18KPřed 7 lety
This is a two cylinder Stirling engine that I bought on eBay. The two cylinder pairs are arranged in a V2 configuration. There are two things special about this engine: First, it looks like a superhero with huge muscles. Second, it has some very strange displacer pistons. They are not airtight cylinders but aluminum cups that are open on the hot side. In fact, they are no displacers at all sinc...
Walking Machine driven by Stirling Engine
zhlédnutí 12KPřed 7 lety
This is a nice toy I have ordered from AliExpress. It's a simple mechanism that moves on four "legs" and is driven by a hot air engine. I replaced the spirit burner by one I made myself because the wick of the original burner was too near to the glass tube and I added four Barbie shoes because the whole machine was not crazy enough. 8-)

Uzmi ping-pong lopticu i stavi je u vertikalnu struju vazduha. Loptica ostaje lebdeti iznad izvora strujanja vazduha, jer strujanje obuhvata sferu loptice i stvara se sferično simetrična razlika pritisaka usled opstrujavanja loptice (Bernuli!), dole veći a iznad niži pritisak. Rezultanta razlike pritisaka sa poprečnim presekom loptice daje dinamičku uzgonsku silu koja izjenačuje težinu loptice.... Jeli jasno? (nije na odmet i laicima znati malo aerodinamike!)

  • @componenx

I built one of these about 6 years ago (no teflon, no springs). So close to running but never did. I suspect one or more of the three "pistons" is not a dead flat bend. Time to give it another shot. Also thinking of running the upper rotor on a shaft that goes through the upright block instead of the bolt. That way it can actually be used to power something.

you're a fraud. the direction of the light DOES NOT affect the direction of rotor rotation. thumbs down. you used air to cause the rotor to rotate, which is also why the rotor was shaking so much despite your blatantly false claim of "imbalance."
