That first banjo solo is 🔥
この当時、日本のブルーグラス人口は僅かだったと思いますが、彼らの来日がブームを巻き起こしたことが想像されます。😊
A lot of dedication to do that! The drive and timing along with great vocals and harmony. Plus to run it as a business and stay at it all his years. Definitely set a standard that others could follow and enjoy forever.
It was Mar.5 1968 I did not have enough money for seat A.too much for 15 years old boy.I also enjoyed in fame performers here in JPN.
Lester Flatt and Josh Graves explicitly impersonating Roy Acuff and "Oswald" Kirby on the Wabash Cannonball track, a treasure among the many here
Mr. Monroe knew how to play for the audience...Even with a language barrier, he played more instrumental then his typical show. Also, by doing a request show the audience was able to participant in the show themselves.
No one else ever will be able to beat Kenny on the Fiddle!!!-david.
IF you want smooth you want Kenny. If you want wild you get Benny. They were great with Bill.
Thank you for sharing this! It's really great to hear how much the Japanese fans like bluegrass.
Legend
Never knew that Bill Monroe and His Bluegrass Boys were so popular in other parts of the world. Were their featured on Tokyo radio stations? Just amazing.
What a great honor to play with three of them, Bill Monroe, Bob Black & Kenny Baker !
Everett Lilly M C Ralph Lewis guitar lead vocal
I went to see this show around a student. When I was waiting by a stage door in KOUSEINENNKIN KAIKANN HALL, Lester and Earl have come. Lester seemed slightly cross, but when I asked Earl an Autograph on a slip of the notebook I had, he scribbled and disappeared into the stage door quickly. A dear memory.
les and earl had a disdain for each other around that time due to lester wanting to stay traditional and earl wanting to be progressive . hence the breakup in 69
Thank you for posting this. I have enjoyed it so much tonight. Sure wish we had video to go with it. 👍👏
