A busy evening at Neath
zhlédnutí 912Před 9 měsíci
There is plenty of action at Neath. Starting with a goods train departing Neath (general) for Aberdare via the Vale of Neath line. We then see Neath junction with the South Wales mainline branching to the left, and the Vale of Neath line off to the right. Pannier tank 7726, passes 4088 Dartmouth Castle as it crosses the Neath Canal on the approach to the station. Finally over at Neath (riversid...

The Vale of Neath Railway "Pontypool Rd to Glynneath"
zhlédnutí 3KPřed rokem
A full length run along my Train Simulator route "The Vale of Neath Railway" from Pontypool Road as far as Glynneath. As usual, the camera work is a bit all over the place, and some signals failed to show correctly, but I hope you enjoy watching it. Note that my route is based on the 1892 - 1914 25" OS Map, so a lot of the scenery is all over the place historically, and trying to drive the trai...
The Vale of Neath Railway

A video showing some of the stations along the Vale of Neath Railway for Train Simulator Classic. Currently I have modelled Pontypool Rd to Glynneath, but hope to extend all the way to Neath eventually. There's a few stutters, and the speeds are a little fast here and there, but this is due to my ageing editing software. If you're a Train Simulator user, and you'd like the route it's available ...

A short clip from my latest phase of my Train Simulator Classic route "The Vale of Neath Line". This is some action from Mountain Ash in the Cynon valley, based sometime in the 1950's, with both Mountain Ash (Cardiff Rd) and (Oxford Rd) stations shown, as well as both Deep Dyfryn and Nixons Colieries. The route is still under construction, Although Phase 1 from Pontypool Rd to Quakers Yard has ...

Tondu Halt or Tonteg Halt?
@@rhobatbrynjones7374 Tonteg 🙄 (error during production)
Absolutely fantastic thank you I hope that you could recreate Brecon to neath route as I used to live adjacent to the track near dainter place just up from ely place goods yard and footage of the railway there is rare once again thanks
Hi Ben. Sorry to reach put on CZcams. But do you have any books or research material you'd recommend when it comes to the old stations of Neath? I'm particularly interested the locations and old photos. But I've found it difficult thus far. Kind regards, Alun.
@alunrhydderch1786 Hi there. I didn't manage to get any books on the Neath area I'm afraid. Most of the research I did on the area was online by trawling through images on Google, or doing searches on various railway Facebook groups. It's amazing how much stuff is out there. I can recommend the National Library of Scotlands map archive though. maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=13.8&lat=51.66959&lon=-3.80839&layers=168&b=1&o=100
@@TheOpenBoatDAFFODIL Ben, thank you so much.
I just wish I had travelled on the railways around Brecon. However, your work really mirrors reality and is quite remarkable. Would love to see some views starting from Moat Lane down the Mid Wales!!! Many thanks
I wish tsw4 would add tank engines. And south Wales lines So much detail in this video mate well done.
I am from Cowbridge but the railway ended before I was born my great uncles worked as a train driver and the other was a guard thank you l will cherish this film forever
Lovely job Ben !
Absolutely brilliant amazing graphics stayed at the railway Inn very nice friendly people now I know where the station was in relation to the Inn shame it has all gone now.loved music score.brought tears to my eyes thanks Ben..
My father spent most of his life working on trains, a true railway man. He loved the steam trains, and instilled that love in me.
Enjoyed watching you on tour Ben & Cal, thanks for sharing, PS I've subscribed and asked the other admin to do same 😉
Aww I’ve known Carolyn for many many years, since I was very young, my mum & Carolyn was extremely good friends and to see how happy she is and that amazingly big beautiful smile is wonderful xxxx
Looks like you had an amazing time. Thanks for sharing, makes me want to do again x
Fair play - that's an amazing thing to see !!! Old relative's often spoke of it.. Found it hard to imagine until now tho - thanku
How come the train went so far without any coal being added?
Bravo.
Brilliant, beautiful, stunning. What a joy to watch.
Remarkable, truly remarkable!
Not really into these types of things but really enjoyed this !!! Thank you !!!
Brilliant.
I can't help but think of how much watching neat Train Simulator gameplay videos would make great fascinating _Railway Series_ stories, if I was liable to have the creative mind to write me a good story or two, which unfortunately is something I don't seem to possess to make redeemable for not just myself, but for the people that's heavily inspired and in connection of the universal lore of the _Railway Series_ and _Thomas & Friends_ franchise as an entire whole.

Another brilliant video Ben. Thanks for sharing all your superb work.
Ben, any plans to make this route available through the Steam Workshop? It certainly looks up to the standards of some of the best route builders.
The route is already available. The link is in the description 😁
Another superb production Ben, totally mesmerising to watch....Bob
Thank you 😃
Brilliant and very clever. I love the different locos at every station.
Superb! I've cycled or walked most of that route but you bring it back to life. Cheers!
Fabulous Ben. Could you have a crack at Tondu to Garw ?
If they ever get the line reopened, it might look like this! Enjoy.... czcams.com/video/d8zl4msPbqo/video.htmlsi=SAPOirCkmmy-QAP9
This is amazing. Well done. Looks like the valley is flooded a bit in Cefn Coed under the Viaduct, but in the photo it looks that way too wierdly.
Another fab video Ben! Just loved the details of the complex junctions, esp Bird In Hand (named after the nearby pub). Seems there are very few old photos of the junction at the start of Crumlin viaduct - think this was a double track incline down to join the lower Western Valleys route at Llanhilleth ? My old Dad often talked of the route thru Maesycwmmer Station under the Hengoed Viaduct - on the way to Bedwellty Grammar School i think.
Another fantastic effort Ben! I really enjoyed watching this - so much good detail of a complex railway. All gone now.
Wow! Some of those games shots when in black and white could be mistaken for a real image, especially Ponsticill !
Great route building here. If I could only get Google overlay to work I’d start work on the Ingleton line.
Brilliant. Could I ask if you are any relation to Tom Salter who taught at Quakers Yard Grammar School in the early 1960’s?
No, but funnily enough my brother is called Tom Salter! 😁
Media fire link doesn’t seem to work

Is this getting updated for train sim 4?
My routes will only work with Train Simulator Classic sadly.
@@TheOpenBoatDAFFODIL that's a shame I only own train SIM 4 and would love to drive on that route. Anyway. Have a nice day.
Absolutely Amazing John Street Behind merthyr station and the Tramroad behind the yard and the old parish church in the background on church street all visible love it amazing work and attention to detail
Thank you 😃👍
Nice work Ben.
Loads of the boys used to go through the tunnel up Blaencwm back in the 70’s. I was always too afraid to do it myself.
I went through several times. Once on a motorbike! Happy days....
Looks fantastic. Any idea of the requirements?
They're in the included Read Me file.
Wish It was still around to this day as it would of been my local line if it was. Shame it got taken away like so many others.
Thanks, I've walked most of that route - it's nice watching the trains on it.
That's amazing. I've walked most of that route and the simulation is perfect. You must do from Pontsticill to Dowlais at some point. I'm hooked.
Thanks. Dowlais is on my radar.
Superb attention to detail and a lovely video 👌
Hi Ben, very impressive. I'm a railway engineering consultant and I'd like to be able to talk with you about whether you'd be willing to put together some simulations of projects that we are working on mainly in the rail freight sector (paid work of course). Is there a way of contacting you directly?
Hi there. You can email me your contact details to ben.salter@ntlworld.com
Another excellent video Ben. Amazing mate - these films of yours started out as brilliant... but they get even better with each one you produce. Hats off to you :)
how come these are not on the train simulator download site and not avaliable to buy?
Because I make them using assets from other routes. If you visit the 'Recreating Britains Lost Railways' Facebook Page, you will find many of my and others routes available to download.
Wow that was amazing I just remember the final steam trains running on that route to Vaynor quarry when I lived in Trefechan as a child. Well done.
Brilliant Ben 👍 A pity I wasn't around when the railway was running but I've cycled most of that route with the railway in mind.
Absolutely brilliant. Brought back many happy memories.
Superb Ben ,just superb !
