The WWE setup Schultz. According to him, they knew the interview was going to ask him about "fake" wrestling, so WWE told him to stay in character for the interview, and then when Stossel sued the WWE, they fired Schultz and denied they ever told him to do anything.

I just didn’t think Punk was a fighter. Judging by his fight with Jackson, you could tell by the end of the fight he looked more like he was trying to “work” the match rather than actually compete. Wrestling is in his blood, and Punk never struck me as someone who would hurt another person.

I was one of the biggest anti-David Arquette guys out there. I was a huge fan of WCW at that time, and (being like 14 at the time) I figured I knew enough about the situation to place the blame on David. It even got to the point where like 7 years ago on Facebook I made a comment abouit how I randomly remember how he ruined WCW and it was unforgiveable. He somehow saw the status and commented saying "Aww, too bad. Want a cookie?" which was when I found out that my wife has had a crush on him for years, but that's another story. I then found that documentary a year or two ago and holy shit, what he went through just to prove that his whole run in WCW wasn't entirely a gimmick for Ready to Rumble, but that he actually loves Wrestling, it changed my opinion on him. The dude, on blood thinners for a heart condition, was stabbed in the goddamned neck and as he was bleading out. finished the match. The dude deserves his respect and his flowers.

I saw this on TV when it happened. Wrestling is Fake as Fuk! But Dave Schultz went too far and ruptured Stossel's ear drum during that cheap shot, Dave got sued and Stossel won $$$! MMA is real fighting...WWW is fake choreographed all day long!

I have actually fought several pro wrestlers back in the 90s and I can tell you that it's not fake. Most of the fights were out in the club or parking lot, but we got separated by the bouncers or some friends trying to keep me from getting smacked around. They were never alone and most of their buddies would try to get some shots in for good measure. I trained with a couple guys trying to break in the business for about a year, but the scene was just not for me. I helped out at events as staff around my area and got into it with Rick Flair. Rick was pissed that they wanted him to walk through the routine and he took it out on me. He threw me against the rope and slapped me in the chest so hard that it took two weeks for the bruise to go away. I was so mad that I wanted to fight him and he just howled into the rafters. They got me out of there as he was making fun of me and trying to get me to come back in the ring. I got along with all the other guys and they were actually pretty cool. I just think Rick thought he shouldn't have to do a walk through and was pissed about it. My buddy was asking me to show everybody at the gym how Rick smacked me in the chest and we could see his handprint on my chest. Ah, such good memories. I wonder if I could have taken him, probably not. He likely would have broken my leg in that figure 4 he was famous for, or just smacked my head off instead of hitting me in the chest. These guys are tough and mostly professional. Most of the matches might be scripted, but it takes a tough athlete who is well trained to accomplish the moves in the ring and sell the action to the crowd. I respect them as athletes and performers. Many thanks to the guys that were cool, and Rick can kiss my ass.

Stossel sued vince, vince turned around and went after david schultz, said he had to pay the damages for the lawsuit or something, schultz said vince even tried to have a collection agency take his house or something, it was pretty serious, schultz was a hot head but still, after that he couldn't work with a lot of promoters in america, and he was even black balled in japan over another incident.

Yeah wrestling is choreographed but people have to remember that most of those guys are big and athletic, they put their bodies on the line for your entertainment, sometimes things don't go quite right and injuries and even death has happened, people need to show them some respect, most people know darn well they couldn't do what they do
