Thanks for posting this video. I stumbled across a VHS tape cleaning out my dad's house of our 1989 trip to tweetsie and was curious if there were others that had videos from back then. I was 4 years old in that video. I'm 38 now. Now I take my 7 year old daughter to tweetsie a few times a year. It's a very special place.
That's exactly how I remember Tweetsie when I was little. They don't run through the train anymore. It used to be really good. They'd be fighting on the train, shooting on the train and everything. It's changed a lot since then and not as fun as it used to be.
Nice to find some Decent 7002 footage that isn't Recycled time after time

Thanks for sharing wish we could go back to those days
Strasburg Railroad in Lancaster County, PA for Unforgettable Experiences on Authentic Train Cars czcams.com/video/5KGdNLbj-RA/video.html
How come Strasberg never uses those yellow cars with the HUGE windows anymore? As well as the the old wood sided open air gondola for passengers?
They still use the yellow coaches, but they're not yellow anymore and have been rebuilt
Man, I'll tell you, Tweetsie looks different, yet the same to how it was years ago.
There Amish people not Jewish
Anybody know why they were working on 6755?
Wow, the hairdo's we had & the clothes we wore. My God, what were we thinking...LOL. I spent 3 days at Strasburg RR in 2016. I plan to return when the roundhouse is finished at the railroad museum across the street from Strasburg RR. So may steam locomotives to see. You begin asking yourself "what would it take to get several of them operational today." It's a great place for any railfan. The Pa Railroad museum on one side of the street & Strasburg RR on the other side. Plan to spend a few days, so much to see.
Thanks for the video. I haven't been to Tweetsie in years even though I live only about 2 hours away. I use to love the rainmakers show. The train ride and Indian show was so much better than the current videos of the shows.
awesome video but what the heck was that at 1:13 ? so weird!
What number was the second train that passed by them?
7002 nvm That was a train?
A Kid Named Sam It was one they use to have
At the start of the video, are you riding with Tweetsie #12 or Yukon Queen #190? The whistle sounds a bit like both (moreso 190's), but I'm pretty sure Tweetsie had a different whistle 30 years ago.
+Froggyman145 I think it's 190 by the sound of the bell.
+Froggyman145 4:09 yeah, it's 190.
+Jonah Snyder Thanks
Definitely 190. Can tell by that Crosby 3 chime.
190
I just started going to Strasburg 2 years ago. Its amazing to see all the improvements they have done adding in actual loading numbers, repainting all of the passengers cars and locomotives and saw 1223 in the barn. Amazing. I enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing. I am going to subscribe to you, if you could sub back to me please.
Its weird how all late 80s-early 90s home videos look the same. My dad has one of me at Strasburg from 1991 when I was about 4 and its almost identical to this. Lol thanks for the trip down memory lane.
So thats what that little light was from haha, kept on looking back and seeing something
No, That's my cousin, I said she was out cold. She was sleeping. I was recording this for her, cause she missed it.
Love the old clips! They have got quite a different set of cars and paint back before I was alive... 90 went through 4 paint schemes from I know, maybe more...all I know is this strasburg paint, the modern strasburg paint, a third strasburg paint inbetween those two, and Great Western at some point... But Great videos! really liked it!!
Yes
No. NS recently said that they will not accept any more steam locomotives into the program after 611. They will have their hands full with three steam locomotives next year. I wish it were 1987 all over again and 1218 was coming back, but at least it will be like 1982 all over again when 611 steams again. 7002 and 1223 would be poor candidates for NS because although 7002 had cab signals installed for the off line runs in 1985 and 1986, they are both friction bearing and boilers too thin for safe operation like 1361. PRR ran their steam locomotives to death which is why none run today. Perhaps 765 will return to PA next year.
Rob Krasinski they are 2 or so running
Rob Krasinski they still have 7312. It's just going through a refurbishment
I think my first visit was for Thomas and friends
You were the same age as me~ :D
beautiful, short and sweet
what is the name of that very last song the blue grass bad played with harmonica
cool
I went in 1986 as a five year old. As I recall, the train robbery and indian attack were much more interesting and I can remember being terrified when the indians boarded the train with tomahawks in hand. There was always humor with the cowboys, but when I watched videos of the recent shows, they are all pretty much just slapstick and one liners. They even incorporate jokes about modern stuff, which ruins the old west feel completely.
Yeah i completely agree, especially when they do the indians i used to be scared of it
I remember when the deer park was like that, without the fence. It was a lot more fun!
Yeah I agree. :( I saw some vids from last year and even though the actors are doing their job.. It's missing something. but that is just my opinion. heh :)
They shows today are like idk, Too Cheesy.
Oh your welcome, I miss the way things used to be like there.
I went for my first time in 1990. My Dad's video camera and VCR was stolen later that had the tape of our trip in it. Thank you for sharing your experiences with the world! :)
I miss the way they used to do these shows.
I went railfanning at Perryville a few times during the summer - nice spot! I also liked the two Dash-8's caught at around the 0:07 mark - not that often that you see "Pepsi Cans" rolling around these days...
I think she had her baby, Otherwise I don't really know.
What happened to that goat
