late night/early morning storms that hit in waves over Edmonton Alberta. Storm eventually became sever warned over its 2+ hour life.

While parts of the city were hit with large hail the SW side got this loud storm. Tons of positive strikes. Sounded like a war zone in the distance.

Been a slow summer storm wise but finally a slow and weak storm rolled through SW Edmonton over 2-3 hours. Some decent strikes and a few Positive strikes in the second half of the video.

Had a nice storm hit Edmonton and surrounding areas on July 20, 2015. At the end of the video the Wind instantly reverses and then stops. Never seen anything like it before.

Here in Southern California, we get these kind of thunderstorms, usually with strong winds, mainly during the wintertime, especially during El Nino.
And sometimes gets too close for confert.

Great video. I’m guessing that these were elevated thunderstorms? Some of the loudest thunder I’ve heard. Reminds of spanish plume thunderstorms we sometimes get here in Ireland.
Yes it was an elevated air mass storm, pretty much no structure to it as there was no shear. Lots of moisture to work with though!

@@MrStundon1 The ASWMS has been seeding them since 1996. The effect wasn't noticeable at first. I'm in Calgary, and last summer every thunderstorm here was seeded into non-existence.

Very intense electrical storm. Lots and lots of CGs! This is an extremely dangerous thunderstorm. Lots of positive lightning flashes. I love the popping sound in some of the loudest thunder.
Some microbursts can have winds as high as 165 mph. That's category 5 on the Saffer Simpson Scale!
