First time on your channel. That smile of yours seems to approve of Daneliya. I only recently learned of her, and I can't get this young lady out of my head. I wake up with her covers in my head or on my lips. I do my daily walks with headset blasting her in my ears. I argue with myself to get to damned sleep. She's home after her graduation (and about to turn 18), and a few of her fans (myself included) are losing it as hints that she is working on something back home 'leak out.' She's a brilliant young women who could pursue another career (like law). I want her to thrive, but that 'change' is not welcome in my head. Like you, I [just] started listening to the originating artists, and the difference is shocking. Thanks for the reaction.

The lyrics are sad because they refer to when in 1916 the Russians recruited young Kazakhs and forced them to fight in the First World War. According to the lyrics, a young man who marches towards the battle zone thinks about what awaits him and suffers for what will happen to his parents, who are old and left alone, and who may not return alive. On the way he also thinks that it will be the last time he will see his house and his beautiful mountains. For Dimash, family union and love for her is one of the greatest things, hence the difficulty in interpreting it. The Russian tsar and recruiters treated us like cattle (they didn't feed us, they kept us in unsanitary conditions). That is why, out of 400,000 (Kazakh) soldiers recruited in the first months, 150,000 died of disease and starvation. They did not give us weapons, they fought with shovels against cannons and rifles.
