This video explained a lot about what my machine sometimes does. very interesting. I only have one critique, the cursor is white and it makes it hard to follow, if you can change the color to green or red it would help a great deal. I had to stop and back up a number of times to catch where the cursor was going.

As a complete newbie with my Algolaser Alpha, when I try to set the laser to the center of a circle, (1% laser power on), when I hit frame the laser head moves around where the circle should do the framing seems to be correct, but when I hit start, I also get the first message of out of bounds, hit continue anyway, then a get a hard error with a g-code message stating an issue. Can I be causing my issues by physically moving the laser head by hand, or do ALL moves to a position need to be done with the on screen move command? A lower left star position seems OK but when I try to set the origin in the center, I get the two error messages and nothing moves. Any suggestions will be welcome.. Thanks

Extremely new here so I would ask that you SLOW down. The rapid fire explanations, coupled with the rapid cursor movements all over the board, makes for frequent rewinds to figure out how you did a certain thing. Great info, but for “101”, a trickle versus a torrent would help.

I just received mine and have not been able to get the performance as it is advertised. My 1/8” plywood will not pass through going over 18”/min. At 20”/min it passes through on cuts going with the grain but fails to go through cutting across the grain. So far, I don’t see a big benefit from our 24w quad pro. Maybe we are doing something wrong but I’ve been through the settings many times and can’t seem to figure it out… Currently using air assist at 20psi.

Update: we actually had success at 25 IPM when we adjusted the head to 1/4” offset from the work piece. So it seems the focus of the head (out of the box) was calibrated to 0.250”. However this could’ve been because we had the 24w setup this way and just plugged the 44w head in and ran it…

Yes, you just need the new laser head. It is available on the site here: jtechphotonics.com/?product=44w-octo-pro-laser-head . In addition, we have metal mounts available for various cnc machines depending on what you have. You can get them in the mounts section labeled 'metal' (jtechphotonics.com/?product_cat=magnetic-mounting-kits) Your mount might still work, but the laser is really heavy for the older plastic mounts.
