Terry Hobbs: The Real West Memphis Bogeyman?
As promised, my Terry Hobbs video is back! Finally, after quite some time, I've been able to get the episode back up. I'm really sorry that it took so long, and I appreciate your patience.
I've made some changes to the original version - updating the info slightly, and removing some statements from the original that I no longer feel comfortable with.
I urge you to keep in mind that SOME of this episode must be treated as fiction. The hypothetical scenario I lay out in this episode is simply MY THEORY about what may have happened. It is not fact.
Thanks for listening!

      @@darkdarkworld I've just revisited this case again, and watched all of the interviews and documentaries etc. But just found your podcast and it's full of new information and very well put together. The black man at the near by cafe covered in blood always stood out to me though, giving potential doubt. What if the little black girl who saw them go into the woods, told her father. Her father caught him, or saw them, but then realized it would implicate him, so kept his mouth shut. Was there ever a follow up interview with that little girls father? Was there DNA found on that strand of hair?

    I think the primary responsibility was Russell. It was his call to use the pyro, and you don't even need hindsight to figure out that firing off showers of sparks in a crowded nightclub is not a very good idea, flammable walls or not. He is a pure douche for never accepting any form of responsibility, pretty much saying all these years "I just came there to sing, then this happens !" [Yes I am aware that he recently passed away] He was more than glad to throw the tour manager under the bus, maybe he actually convinced himself that he wasn't responsible to maintain his own sanity, seems to me the only way you can cleanse your soul with so much blood on your hands is to come clean, like the tour manager did, but he never did that so I say, shit on his soul for that. I think the fire inspector bears some responsibility for being so lax in his inspections, the company that sold the foam would be guilty only if they misrepresented their product, not sure if they did or not. But even fire resistant products are not designed to stand up to hot showers of sparks so not sure if there would have been a big difference if they were fire resistant, likely would have at least took a bit longer to flash. The owners guilty for exceeding capacity and perhaps not installing a sprinkler system, which I don't think would have put the fire out but perhaps would have minimized casualties by giving people more time to get out, if only 1 minute.

    First off, I think this was the best synopsis of the case that I’ve heard. Your narration style and pacing are excellent, my ears are very pleased! Now in terms of the case, there’s one thing I have to say that sticks out like a sore thumb - unless it is your first day learning to play guitar and you’ve literally never picked one up before, it shouldn’t take ANYONE more than five damn minutes to learn “the main riff of Pretty Woman”. - Anyone who plays guitar is going to agree. Unless this was David Jacoby’s very first beginner guitar lesson with the great Terry Hobbs master instructor, it wouldn’t have taken him 10 minutes, let alone the 30-60 minutes he said it was. To me, this is Jacoby’s fabricated alibi. Initially, he and Terry had come up with their alibi together, agreed on details, etc… Then, a good 10, 12 years goes by, and people start zeroing in on Terry. Naturally, Jacoby sees this, and begins to recreate his own alibi to better assert his own innocence, while not overtly pointing the finger at Hobbs because he knows that in itself would be perceived as suspicious, he makes a point to leave open ends while asking “himself” out loud things like, “oh jeez, I just …I just don’t wanna think he could-I mean, I don’t think he could have done it but God, I’d give my life to know the truth” - he knows the investigators are honing in on Terry. And further, I’d say he’s able to justify changing his alibi to save himself over both him and Terry, because at least to him, if it wasn’t for Terry, none of this would have happened, and his hands would have been clean. He felt forced to participate, feels guilty, but has gotten away with it for so many years, and knows what happens to child kiłłérs in prison. So, he’s still enough of a coward to keep lying about it; this is the reason for his incessant crying in every interview he’s done, it’s to convey remorse to the tune of “having not done more, or could I have done this or that to maybe keep it from happening” When in reality, he’s crying because he’s been holding his involvement in a triple murder of three boys for decades, and it really eats him up inside. But, he truly doesn’t know what else to do, this is all he knows And to be clear, I’m going off the LG Hollingsworth and Buddy Guy narrative. But, that’s really just one angle, it’s a hypothetical, and a weird detail to fixate on, but one I feel is important. Another being the numerous meandering insignificant details Jacoby gives when recalling things on May 5, almost like it’s part of the smoke screen he’s developed. He’s had over 10,000 days to recite a specific narrative in his head, I’d think he’d have something he considered believable by then. But that said, I feel the narrative presented in this video is the most plausible and believable, albeit one I had never considered. Well done brother, well done!!!

      @darkdarkworld Před 9 dny

      Thank you for the kind words, friend! 🙏 I agree(to an extent) with what you say about the Pretty Woman alibi. I always thought saying the specific riff they were working on seemed too specific. If they had just said they were playing guitar, it would have been sufficient. Saying they were working on a specific riff just sounds like someone calling in sick to work when they aren't actually sick and giving way too much detail, which tips the boss off to the fact that they're lying lol

    Have you seen the photos of their bodies? Like have you been able to see the way they were tied up? For some reason, I always imagine them being tied up from behind, but truly it looks like they were tied up to stop them from being able to swim, not for transportation or for solely disposal purposes. It’s definitely plausible that they were tied the way they were to avoid detection while being in the water. But I get this gross sinking feeling that whoever tied them like that and put them in that water knew they were alive and wanted them to suffer and be unable to save themselves from drowning. I’ve never ever heard of any type of sacrificial ritual being so far removed. If it really was satanic in nature it doesn’t make sense that they didn’t die in a more personal manner. It doesn’t seem to fit into the narrative. If it was a satanic ritual they would’ve had to have killed them but they didn’t. Why go to such extremes to brutalize 3 young boys but fall short of dealing the final blow and instead removing yourself from that? You know? It just doesn’t make sense. The killings felt like a necessary end to a situation but it didn’t feel like the motive to the situation, because the killer wanted to put distance between himself and the victims during the time of actual death. Ritualistic sacrifice has to be personal because of the inherent nature of the task, but this was only so personal before whoever did it needed to distance himself from it. The entire thing screams “I needed them dead but couldn’t kill them myself” but the reason as to why is a mystery

    I’ve seen several documentaries on this horrific case. I can’t remember which one raised suspicion about Hobbs, but ever since then I’ve thought it could have been him. After listening to your analysis, I’m convinced Hobbs did it. Too many things don’t add up. If Stevie was afraid of “daddy Terry” I’m sure his friends were too. That would explain why he could have made all the boys undress and do what he said. Previously, I thought it would have had to been more than one person. Now I think Terry could have done this alone.

    Boiling this down to a simple accident caused by a series of dumb mistakes and ranting about the justice system... if you get burnt in a completely avoidable fire and have to live with the consequences for the rest of your life... then maybe you can have an opinion on that. Every person that was responsible for a code violation knew or should have known this would happen. Especially in 2003 when this has happened so many times in the past. If the people responsible for nightclub fire deaths had been given harsher legal punishments in the past then maybe the people responsible for the Station fire would have taken safety more seriously. People slack when they know there's no consequences.

      CALM DOWN KAREN............... On February 20, 2003, while touring as "Jack Russell's Great White", they played a club gig at The Station in West Warwick, Rhode Island, where a deadly fire caused by pyrotechnics occurred, leading to the deaths of 100 people including band member Ty Longley.

    Great podcast about this case. This situation should have been prevented if the parents had raised their children properly and taught them how to handle conflicts with others. The disputes between groups should have been handled by law enforcement. Fighting and violence never solve anything. Dustin should have gotten life in prison, but it would have haunted him for the rest of his life. My prayers go out to Brian's family. May Brian rest in peace.

    I believe her drug of choice was Vicodin. Did you see the prescriptions in her record? She had multiple opiates and escalating. Ambien, had she taken it late at 3am she’s still under it’s influence 900am. That in its self is a risk and variable behaviors. She’d be more in control when on opiates than alcohol or weed. I don’t think alcohol is that appealing to her for that reason. Not an alcoholic at all. Looks like she had had a semi-monthly RX, plenty to be dependent on opioids. Drs still doled them out in 2009. Strange it wasn’t brought up but overlooked. The toxicologist, private investigator and HBO should’ve pulled her prescriptions. To understand her intoxication we need to know everything on board, what’s typical baseline for her and what in the absence of? Id like to see her pharmacy records, closest pharmacies to home and work. I think the answers to that morning are somewhere in her pills. Possibly opiate withdrawals that morning, which are horrible. Nausea, pain, gastro. Even a uncomfortable bowel movement en route because she’s in withdrawal, may wanted her own bathroom, or she had a refill ready at the pharmacy. She couldve been fine all weekend and having 3rd and 4th day withdrawals, hurting. It would explain so many things out of character. She wasn’t a complainer but a control freak that always had pain. 1 Symptom of Opiate dependent person. She hated pain and won’t get her teeth fixed, she will medicate herself Though. The 7-11 seemed a futile errand, she didn’t expect to find her fix, not that she asked for opiates, she expected to be disappointed, rejected, practically walking out the moment she walked in. She’s just going through the motions to fix her problem but gave herself permission to medicate with was convenient. She would “over do it” being 2nd & 3rd drugs of choice because they won’t fix her. She’s trying to feel better as soon as possible. She likely took 3 gulps, 2 after the market and 3rd last stop. Just to get it down but they were likely equivalent to 3 shots each. If she took 3 measured shots, not that I condone drinking and driving or suggest anyone do so, she’s a big girl she probably would’ve been fine, Im not excusing her from responsibility or suggesting anyone drive after 3 shots, she could’ve faired better measured. Theoretically. Don’t drink and drive nor with Opiate withdrawals. She may have smoked for withdrawals nausea and vomiting, it’s the best thing for it. She’s Driving like a disinhibited drug fiend, Not a conscientious PTA Mom. If she had Vicodin that morning, she wouldn’t have substituted her pain meds. All these behaviors explained. She’s not suicidal unless became so on the ride home, she just ordered recital tickets a few hours away. For the 3. She’s not suicidal she’s type A. Also She may have been hypomanic and not known. Like a Shanann Watts super mom, to some extent. Unipolar Mania. Unipolar depression is more typical She could have a mood disorder and not know. Most times unipolar manic sufferers never get treated just naturally more energy and generally feel well, episodes can be erratic. They don’t suffer as many consequences of their mood like a depressed person. Often they don’t realize. Unipolar manic would explain shopping binges. You overspend or impulse buy when you’re manic. Tv and car, could absolutely be manic sprees. I also noticed the Baby girl Erin with a beer bottle. And it may have been a one time thing playing with a bottle. But booze was had. At whatever rate. This reminds of the Watts our most flawed protagonists. So highly improbable and absolutely meant to happen. They both were good parents and they blew it and got their family killed. Chris Watts & Diane Schuler IMO Charity.Chavez @ Facebook - Watts Case solved.

    After watching "Paradise Lost", I was convinced he had murdered these kids. I had spent much of my life depending on the ability to spot deception at that point, and he exhibited all the classic signs of it.
