Cool video. Great experiment. Great views! I looked at radiosonde data on that day, at Miramar Naval Air Station. It is NEVER above zero anywhere in the stratosphere. It was -74 at the top of the troposphere, and the warming started. It only warmed up to -39 degrees C at 107,000 feet when the weather balloon popped. The temperature data was still accurate at 40k ft on the rise, but started showing incorrectly above that until it crashed. I surmise this was due to the can turning completely to ice during the flight. When it was super cold the 'warm' can at 32 deg ice made it appear warmer than it was, and then even when the temperature rose to above 32 on descent the frozen can lowered the temperature on the thermometer.
