My big idol, Ron Keel ❤

The best music video of the 20th century. I recorded it in a betamax cassette from national TV, an afternoon of tuesday in 1986, in Bogotá, capitol of Colombia. Keel is one of my favourite bands.

In 1987 I was 14. KEEL went to my local record store to sign albums. I took my copy of The Final Frontier and had it autographed by the entire band. I was so proud of that thing. Then when I moved out of my house at 17, my mom was so mad at me that I left. She wound up cleaning my room and that album went out in the trash because she was angry at me. It’s 2024 and I’m still mad about that 😢

Killer arrangement! Had to chase it down after it played on one of the tv's at the gym. I'm amazed not to have seen it many years ago.

I was 16 and loved this song, but you young people, please realize, we all didn't really change clothes every other scene in 1986. This was just the video style to show that we could actually do different styles of clothing. And music! The video was key, always.

I saw Keel a bunch of times in L.A. Last time was in '88 at The Country Club where they headlined a triple bill with Jaded Lady opening, then I think Shark Island in the middle. Great show. I didn't realize at the time Mark Ferrari had left the band and saw him in the lobby and said, in my annoying teenage voice, "Dude, you're the guitarist from Keel, right?" and he laughed and said, "Yeah. The guitarist in keel!" Then, when Keel hit the stage I saw why he was laughing. I didn't know he wasn't in the band anymore. The irony...
