Razesa MTB From 1987 restoration - A Spanish Clunker
Razesa was a highly recognized brand in Spain in the 80s. It brought to market one of the first MTB bicycles that could be bought in the country. This bicycle is reminiscent of the legendary Clunker that was born in Marin County in the 70s. and appeals to the same aesthetic with the capacity for very wide wheels and very relaxed geometries.
This version was one of the first Spanish models to offer Nerwig 811 tubing and its components date back to 1987, so this bike is exactly my age :)
When I saw it for sale, I recognized its condition and its potential value once restored. It would have a very fun ride geometry, room for big tyres and room for luggage racks.
Also, the fork looks beautiful to me!
But I had a lot to do....
The paint was in terrible condition
The frame is designed for 120mm wheels and I wanted to put 132mm ones
The bottom bracket was seized
Upgrade the Seatpost from 27mm to 27.20mm
I wanted to put a front basket fixed to the frame, with an specially adapted welded
I wanted to put hoses on the fork to put racks
Also a third screw on the diagonal tube to lower it
Put an adaptor to put a Kickstand in an elegant way
Re-Do all the cable routing
Let's do it!

Beautiful restoration. I have a custom frame. I had my builder add braze-ons to the bottom of my head tube where the derailleur cables run. This prevented the cable housing from rubbing the paint off my head tube. Maybe something to consider for your next build.

Fast delivery: It arrived 5 weeks earlier than expected.4. Easy assemblyJust a few cons but nothing major:1. Cheap tin tubes and had flat on first day... but not a big deal. I replaced the tubes.2. Seat is a bit uncomfortable but that's pretty much the same situation with most bikes.3. Seat post is a bit long/high for a smaller size 48 bike - had to saw 2 inch off to fit properly. The lowest setting is too high. The post locking system does not seem to hold well (perhaps because I saw 2 inch off).4. wheels are not tubeless compatible (from what I can tell)

Hi! I used a piece of wood with a shape and then press with a tool to get the desired shape. I think the bike has done 10000km with no problem.
You should be very proud of this build. what a beautiful bike bro. I was just gifted a 77 nishiki Olympic Royle. I pland on building her with modern components. It'll take a lot of work, but there will be nothing like it on the road. Cheers!

Haha it is true, I just used some spacers but... I think cable routing is the worst part of the bike
The brown bar tape doesn't match at all. An orange one or black like the saddle would be much more appropriate.
My bike originally had that groupset. I eventually replaced rear, front mech and shifters with the newer 105 as I couldn't source replacement parts. Kept the brakes and crank just because I think 6700 is one of Shimano's best looking groupsets of all time!
This is in my opinion the best model Domane to date, it's light weight and comfortable 👌🏽...

You don't need a torque wrench when you have steel and aluminum. That carbon junk you need a torque wrench and carbon paste. I stay clear of carbon as much as possible.
@@charlesmansplaining it’s not just about crushing carbon tube. You can still damage metal / compromise bolts and threads by over tightening. It’s basic engineering knowledge. Also the forks on the Ritchey are carbon so it’s not just a steel bike.
@@KOL630 I've been wrenching my own bikes for 5 decades and I don't know what you're talking about. I must be a pretty Engineer. Common sense goes a long way too.

This is a nice question as you coud adjust the same angle for different bikes. But each saddle has a different angle and surface so won't be possible to do it... Thanks for the comment!
