@@oilyshoes9969 Why please explain. It is the truth. I'm a huge fan of Robbie's, certainly his songwriting talent, guitar playing, but can't get around that he was incredibly good looking and full of charisma.

@@oilyshoes9969 No it is not necessary. Levon was not the leader. Read Barney Hoskyns biography of The Band, Levon was not a decision maker, he was suspicious of managers, accountants, ect. he even admitted it in an interview how "the suits" ruined everything. However, when you are successful those are necessary, thus Robbie became the de facto leader. Also according to their manager at the time, Jon Taplin, Robbie would be in the morning writing songs, Levon was still sleeping (probably Rick, and Richard as well)when Taplin tried to wake up Levon he came after him with a knife. I love all The Band Member's, I'm of their generation, and they were all so talented, although I have to admit I have a real soft for Rick, and of course Robbie, but that does not alter the facts.

Not sure about that, could be. High or not his has so much charisma and looks you can't stop looking at him and listening to him.

We all have different taste, they had and still do many fans.

He was in a movie "Carny" with Jodie Foster and Gary Busey. He never looked more handsome than in that movie. I watched a few days ago, and might watch it again, just to see Robbie. It is available on Utube.

@@zippymufo9765 He did a nice job, not Oscar material, but he wasn't bad. One critic called his perfomance "commendable". Anyway, he was not a movie star nor did he want to be one, he was a musician.

But after his "commendable" (which means "he sucked but nice try") performance he was smart enough to realize he had no acting talent.

I haven't read Levon's book, but Robbie is very open about it in his book "Testimony". He didn't do heroin, which Levon, Rick and Richard did. However, as Robbie wrote it is hard to be in judgement of someone when you are no angel yourself.

I don't think Robbie was a jerk, perhaps he was a little more ambitious that the other guys, also I think more of an intellectual, although he didn't have any advanced degrees. Someone said about him he was the most impressive self taught person he knew.@@hardtoimaginable

Yes, but if you read Robbie's book, they were quite close, and Robbie look at Levon as his big brother. Robbie was an only child that grew up with a physically abusive stepfather. I'm an only adopted child, I understand some of Robbie's personality. It was only later when Levon started to do heroin that things changed between them, but I think Robbie always loved Levon, even years later when Levon wrote his book and it came out how bitter he was.

He reminds me so much of my grandmother. Turns out they were born 40 miles apart.

It's a little more complicated than that, but yeah a lot of the fighting was about Robbie getting most of the money/song credits. Both of them have books which are great reads- Testimony for Robertson and This Wheel's On Fire for Helm.
