A shout out to Dave Briggs, who managed their Japan portfolios, who I connected with in September 1998, thanks to reading an interview with him...fortunate for me...as the smaller caps had gotten pounded down a lot between 95-98...some 300 selling a 1/4-1/3 of net cash....and most profitable....I made a double, as the US market skyrocketed, and then collapsed in 2002. Wonderful talk from one of the humble great investors; he brags on the fund and value investing principles, not on himself. It is no small talent to run a profitable insurance company. Buffett had Jack Byrne and now has Ajit Jain. Is Mr. Chou directing the underwriting himself, or who is his Ajit Jain at Stone Trust?

Ivy going so far in on ESG disgusts me. I'm an alumnus but I would never send my child there. ESG is just a transformation of Marxist ideology. It's a parasite, a mind virus. Not poisoning the environment and having truly responsible governance is one thing; but the "S" for social, and the packaging into ESG™ is socialist ideology. They're not getting another cent from me until the entire senior administration of the business school is replaced.

I lost over $70k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. Great conference! Graham is much talked about, but little studied. Walter Schloss once remarked that he thought of Benjamin Graham as an 'undervalued security'. Neglected, yet offering a wealth of value.

There is something that people often miss. the fair value of an investment varies depending on how much you paid. because a buyback/dividend is different at x price than at y price. So every person has a fair value
