So glad you found this helpful 💕 which strategy are you trying first?
I believe if so many people didn't glamorize self harm so many people including myself wouldn't have got addicted to this coping mechanism
glamorization of harmful behaviors is a major struggle. glad you're aware of the differences and hope your healing journey is going well 🌸
I'm 43 years old, and have only sought therapy after my daughter was born. I still have anxiety, and this video will is a great tool. Thank you 🙏🏾
so glad you found this meditation helpful - thank you for sharing :) Which affirmation is feeling most useful for you?
yeh my dyslexia is off i wanted "how to tell if your parents want you to die"
oh no! I hope your parents don't want you to die. 💕
well i want to work out if they want me dead or just not around "out of sight" which is pretty much same thing
Love this thank you. These are some good things to ask yourself and make a goal for yourself. Thank you so much!
You're so welcome! 🫶
Thank you so much for making this video! Really helpful
Glad it was helpful! What’s one coping skill on your coping ahead plan?

I dont mind the calm, reassuring, caring face i get from my therapist. She may not say anything but letting me just cry it out and talk through it is so helpful. I know she just wants me to feel it through. Im glad i found therapy 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Isn’t therapy great when you vibe with your therapist? 💛
What’s your go-to self-care activity? 🌸
Love the content but why that song?
Thanks - honestly I don’t remember why I chose the song because I made the video many moons ago 🌸
I'm so so sad
Hope you’re having moments of joy, too 🌟
@@mallorygrimste it happens again I'm so inconsistent
Great strategies but I would recommend removing the suggestion to find a healthier alternative to hot chocolate. I'm a dietitian and was hoping to show this video to a client with an eating disorder, but I don't want her to feel certain foods are "good" or "bad".
Thanks so much for this feedback :) I just rewatched to see what you meant and I think you may have misheard my recommendation about using hot chocolate as a self-soothing strategy. In the video I said I like to soothe with hot cocoa, and then suggested making your self-soothing drink a healthy one (meaning non-alcoholic/substance). Thanks again for the clarification and I hope these tips help your clients, too.
SUPER cool! I second the drawer thing too I even keep it on a bookshelf if I have got one nearby, inside a pillowcase ( NOT the pillow that I sleep on). Haven't seen this around b4 on yt so I am all the more appreciative Mallory:)))
Thank you so much and I love your tip about the pillow case! Extra layers really help us be intentional and break those habits - glad you found the tips helpful 🫶
I just doesn't feel so much anymore, not so hungry anymore, crying for no reason. But i don't know how to say to say that to my parents
sounds like you're going through a lot and I'm so glad you're wanting to talk to your parents. I have a video that walks you through how to do this right here: "Feeling DEPRESSED!? Here’s How to Tell Your Parents {and Get Help!}" czcams.com/video/KTMgOVlls8s/video.html
This is nothing more than useless jargon for what they teach children. Take in a deep breath, and hold it for 10 seconds whenever you get mad. Modern therapy is trash.
It’s true that a lot of psychotherapy strategies that have the most impact tend to be the simplest. I’m glad you’re finding they’re teaching children these skills because that certainly wasn’t the case when I was kiddo. Seems you got a headstart on many of these skills which is amazing - I personally haven’t found that to be the case for many people which is probably why you consider it “trash” but others find it useful. I never even learned these skills until after I completed my MSW - guess we are all learning at different paces and I hope you enjoy your journey 🌺
how do i cope with the death of my father?
I wish I could offer personalized advice on here but social media can’t take the place of psychotherapy. I would start with connecting with your caregivers or school counselor and asking them for help. Sending you lots of healing. Also do you mind removing your age from this comment? We don’t want young people being targeted on this channel. Thanks!
Me who has night anxiety and panic attacks 😢
I’ve got a video for that too! 💕 here’s the link: czcams.com/video/otGjB0RBoWs/video.htmlsi=69DGzXHVwWO7wPSD
@@mallorygrimste Thanks 👍🏻
Not sure if you mean now as in “NOW!”, with an eye roll…or if you mean “What’s distracting you _at the moment_.” Hopefully not the first one, because you immediately triggered my RSD…
The now was part of a question not an eye roll 🫶 thanks for asking so I can help clarify any confusion for others too
She looks like she needs therapy
Thanks- as a therapist we're usually familiar with both sides of the couch 🛋️
Thank you! I’m going into group therapy soon and I’m really nervous:{ any more tips?

awesome! hope it helps :)
I watched all the video but i wouldnt tell them still cause i dont want them to be mean to me
This is a totally common fear- and to be honest, they may still be mean. We can't control other's responses, but we do have power in potentially influencing or impacting the response with our own interactions. Not a fail-proof method, but have you checked out the strategies in this video yet? "Here's how to get your parents to take YOU and Your Mental Health seriously as a teenager" here's that link: czcams.com/video/teevcLpWhP4/video.html
@@mallorygrimste oh thank u but im not a teenager ty for the link tho
@Scrap_beth my content is geared towards teens because that’s primarily who I work with in my therapy practice. However, the strategies I mention in the video come from DBT and these ones are the same in the adult and adolescent protocols so they could still help if you’re interested :)
@@mallorygrimste ok. But do they work for children
Ok 🎉

I'm not sure if i'm suffering from mild seperation anxiety. Everytime i would go on a trip, i would miss my parents and cry a lot. I didn't think much about this when i was in 3th grade, but now i'm in 8th grade and it's still going on. I would also feel an immense amount of homesickness and anxiety.
While having a diagnosis can be helpful, you can still use these strategies if they help you feel better. The only way to know for sure if it’s clinically diagnosable is to meet with a trained professional who can complete an assessment.
As a therapist myself, i think that this is solid guidance ❤
Thanks Jo! Hope you’re doing well across the pond 🫶
This is not I am a therapist too
I think kindness and comfort should be offered. This cold no response approach is awful and I will probably never speak to them again because of the embarrassment
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to clarify this 💝 | crying in therapy
I went to my doctor about SAD and, after a blood test, she gave me Vitamin D tablets (the 'sunshine' vitamin). After a little while I spent far less time in bed. I even take some Vitamin D during the summer months to top me up.
So glad your doctor was able to find something that helped you 🌺
Right Your And Not
Forgive your mother for turning you against your father and that will instantly help many problems Then quiet your mind Imagine a candle in your heart space, light the candle and say hi to GOD This will help you immensley The longest journey we take is 12 inches from the head to the heart Good luck
Glad you found a strategy that works well for you. 🌸
I struggle with it too but don’t rlly show it.. one tip is definitely to think abt the ppl who care for you and want you to live a good life. Don’t think about what will happen if you do any of this, and try not to be scared!
LOVE this tip- thanks for sharing!! Also thank you for sharing that it isn't always a "seen" experience. Hope you're feeling better :)
Off topic but the posters behind you of emotions interest me. The anger one reminds me of ur friends book saying anger is a sign of some other emotion not addressed. I've been using the emotions wheel to identify my emotions but i feel its limited or not quite right and have to write it out to interpret into feelings. Is there a better tool I can use than the wheel to narrow down my emotions and feelings? Something i can pull up easily and use a few times a day to map out my feelings?
Hello 👋 so glad you’re using emotion wheels. Honestly there are a ton of different tools and cheatsheets out there, but if you can name it yourself that’s even better. You know yourself best. And if you can’t quite pinpoint the exact emotion “name” - describing the experience is a great way to identify and process it, too. Kelsey will be pleased to hear you’re still using the lessons from her book. Hope you’re doing well!! 🌻
Obviously it’s never in any business’s best interests to financially imperil their customers. When services cost a lot, customers expect a lot in exchange, and skeptical customers are bad for the bottom line. You still have no incentive to help patients improve their unwell state.
I would say some additional incentives that motivate me personally to help my clients get well include, but are not limited to: - personal satisfaction - making room for other clients in need - preventing death (I have a personal history I’ve talked about in other videos of knowing people who have died from suicide which heavily influenced my decision to become a therapist) - less marketing since word of mouth referrals of a job well done help fill my caseload I can’t speak for all therapists, but these are the incentives that pop up top of mind for me. A way I also personally take to make sure I don’t let client’s health is to meet with a consultation group of other therapists who are incentivized to provide good client care where I can process and work out countertransferences that may arise so it doesn’t negatively impact the work we do in therapy with clients. Hope that helps clarify the concern. Again- super appreciate your willingness to talk about this since I’m sure others have similar concerns. 🫶
No 😢
it's a good thing! We're making our way through the legal process :)

💃🪩🥳
I’m 30. I have huge and extremely deep scars. It’s obvious that they’re self harm. It kind of makes me even more depressed to see them.
Sending you lots of care 💕 hoping you can connect with a local therapist who can help you navigate these feelings - it can be a common (but not the only) response
I believe my anxiety during midterms and finals are the worst and i perform horribly. Try not to tell myself im a bad srudent but just have poor scheduling habits and lack the right studying skills.
Love that you know what helps you 💛 thanks for sharing!
I’m watching this at 10 years old and I’m to scared to tell my parents because I feel like they will just laugh and say “aww don’t worry it’s just a phase you will grow out of it!” And I know this is not a phase because I have had this feeling since age 8 and I know that is not healthy and I also can’t tell my parents because I don’t want attention I just want it to end…but the thing is I hide my feelings a lot so if I tell them I feel like they will think I’m faking since how silly and happy I act…but also because people say that depressed people only want to sleep and stuff! But the thing is they don’t understand that depression comes in many different ways and my parents say “I’m your parent I should be allowed to touch you!” When I say I’m uncomfortable from them touching me and others say “oh please you have nothing to be anxious about your just a kid and also nobody has done anything for you to have trust issues!” But I can’t tell them what people have done to me because I am scared! And yes this video helped me but I don’t know if I should tell them……
Sorry you're struggling with this. Quick ask before I respond- can you just remove your age from your comment? We don't want young being being targeted here :) As for your concerns, they are valid and I'm not going to lie, sometimes parents may think it is a phase. Either way, they can't help get you help if they don't know. Like I share in the video, this is rarely a one-time conversation. Go slow, stay kind to yourself and keep talking - you got this! 🌸
i feel so relaxed such s gentle voice
Thank you - glad you’re finding this helpful :)
This is the second person. I dont know what to do. I feel like this is very dangerous
Apologies for the late reply- if this is a pattern and you’re worried about it I’d highly recommend connecting with a therapist to learn how to navigate this on a more in depth and personalized level. You got this!! 💛
Even though my waist isn’t as thing as I want it to be, it is strong and profile at my spine

😖💩 Anxiety and Poop are highly connected- here’s 3 tips on how to talk about it with your Primary Care Physician and Therapist so you can get help… 1️⃣ Be Clear and Honest: it’s normal to feel embarrassed but doctors and therapists are no strangers to bowel movements. After all- everyone poops 💩 If they’re not understanding, writing down your symptoms and experiences to share in the meeting can be helpful in making it crystal clear what’s happening so they can make appropriate recommendations 2️⃣ Use Your Coping Skills: when you use strategies to help regulate your physical responses to stress, it helps you maintain emotional control so you can say what you need to say. I really love taking small sips of water, or gently massaging my hands to help my body relax. 3️⃣ Keep Talking: these are rarely one and done conversations- keep talking about it with them. It will get easier each time and will help you feel less anxious overall as you continue to practice asking for what you need ✅ Ready to develop your own coping skills to personally apply to your unique situation? 🌈 Join us today in the Coping Skills Crash Course: 🔗 www.mallorygrimste.com/copingskillscrashcourse
