    • @shanefrank3281
      @shanefrank3281 Před 5 dny

      @@EatonDetroitSpring it is a 2015. But I later found a website that mentioned that in 1998 they changed the prefix. The first letter is the year (X is 1999, Y is 2000, 1 is 2001, 2 is 2002......B is 2011, C is 2012) . So C means 2012, B5 is Explorer (2011-present), and E is "Engine North America" engineering dept. So they just changed the year to be 1 digit and the model to be 2 digits. Thanks.

    Hi all, According to DIN and IS standards, springs made from wire or rod with a diameter above 16 mm should be hot coiled due to specific reasons. We have consulted with several manufacturers who claim they can cold coil springs using wire or rod up to 30 mm in diameter. Could you please advise if springs made from wire with a diameter ranging from 16 mm to 30 mm using the cold coiling process would be as effective as those made using the hot coiling process? I look forward to your valuable suggestions. Best regards, Johny

    • @EatonDetroitSpring
      @EatonDetroitSpring Před 2 měsíci

    Tempering is to soften the hardening steel. Why after that you do shot preening?

    • @EatonDetroitSpring
      @EatonDetroitSpring Před 2 měsíci

      After the springs have been formed and quenched in oil, they are too hard and brittle. In order to soften them to be a spring they must be re-heated to around 900 degrees F for a few minutes. They are then shot peened to relive the inherent internal stress that formed during the heat treating process.

I have a 2017 Honda HR-V that I use as my daily and that I recently had suspension parts replaced (including tie rod ends, rack ends, lower control arms and ball joints, shock absorbers) and I only just noticed (after 7 years lol, not really sure if this was a problem before) that the left side has a shorter wheel-to-fender gap compared to the right side. The difference at the front is around 1/4 inch or 6.35 mm and the rear is around 1/8 inch or 3.175 mm from my measurements. For the record, the car rides relatively fine after the replacements.

    • @EatonDetroitSpring
      @EatonDetroitSpring Před 10 měsíci

      If the axle is crooked chances are the u-bolt plate is too wide for the springs. The u-bolts should be snug against each side of the springs. Many times we see 1.75-inch wide springs with a 2 and even 2.25 inch U-bolt plate. This will lead to the springs and axles getting out of line and lead to premature spring failure.
