Solo Backpacking through an Abandoned Minefield
I spent two days backpacking through the Dolly Sods Wilderness, and this is how it went. If you're looking to try this one out for yourself, I did the Bear Rocks and Lions Head Loop - happy trails!

My First Time Backpacking in the Snow
zhlédnutí 9KPřed 3 měsíci
With no experience hiking in the winter, and very little backpacking at all, I figured it would be fun to tackle a snow-covered trail in -12 degree weather. I hiked a trail in Ohio called the Zaleski South Loop: Moonville rail Trail. Also I said -12 degrees above which is in Celsius to sound more dramatic. That's 10 degrees Fahrenheit, which is still way too cold, but still, just sayin. Quick t...
Solo Backpacking for the First Time as a Complete Beginner
zhlédnutí 226KPřed 5 měsíci
I went on my first solo backpacking trip to get a taste for what it's like, and I wanted to share the experience! It was a short and sweet trip - perfect for testing out all of my brand new gear, and getting a feel for what I'll be able to do in the future. The trail I ended up doing in Virginia is called Mount Rogers and Appalachian Trail Loop. Check out my other channels: Video game goods: @I...
❤❤ I can provide you with excellent quality hiking and travel bags
I'm convinced these are just really long, convoluted Subway ads.
I mean hey…whenever subway is ready, my inbox is open
Funny!
keep up the great content!
He's back!
Cool and chill video👍
Your videos are awesome man please keep it up!
Ive been wanting to go to Dolly Sods for a while now. I never knew it was used for all that. Great video like always.
Thanks, it was a great trail! I think the lil background of the area makes it even more interesting and worth a visit
Just found your channel! Been thinking about trying backpacking for a while and after watching your videos, might actually take the plunge and go for it!
Happy hiking if you do!
solo hiking is one of the worst ideas ever. fighting a bear with a a bag of meat. trusting a stranger with your life. "nature takes all dares"
In three years I’m gonna do this
Watching your videos made me really want to go backpacking myself, until I saw how many snakes you saw in this one and now I'm perfectly fine at home lol. Love your vids mate!
Lol, yeah they just kept popping up! Might have been the time I went or just that my snake senses were on high alert
i love when you post your video/editing style is so unique for this type of content
Aggh, I gotta get back outside soon. Thanks for the good vibes!
Oh, and frog jumping during your water refill was classic funny
Great hiking video and lots of cool wildlife! Bear spray is a must! 😊
Love your videos, man :)
I’m planning on backpacking for the first time too. Would you mind sharing how much all of your gear was?
I think it was somewhere around 1200, but i also dont really remember just because there were so many little things that started to add up. But, you can certainly get a full loadout for cheaper!! I just wanted to invest in the hobby so that I hopefully wont have to replace much of the gear. Best of luck!
This was great
Brutally cool video! Keep goin'!
This made my day keep going great Video
Big thanks!
as someone who owns a flex tail pump, I can confirm that it is much more effective at blowing up a mattress than a treefrog
Maybe some day tree frogs will catch up, but until then I’ll keep my pump around
I watched all of your videos. I liked all of them. I would like to encourage you to shoot and upload more.
Thanks, I’ll do my best!
Keep it up your videos make my day, love the choice music❤
Much appreciated!
I literally discovered your channel yesterday and commented "i need more videos like this" under one of your video, and 8 hours later you posted this one. What a gift, keep up the good work🙏
Haha thanks! I couldn’t let you wait any longer, I just had to deliver
Wonderful video! I am starting my first trip of the year in two weeks!
I hope its a good one!
your videos are great, I thought you stopped with hiking videos but now you made my day!
Thats great! And definitely haven’t stopped yet, still chugging along!
i fucked with this so heavy, the frog most certainly will not blowup your mattress
Unfortunately not, no :/
You have such a beautiful video style. Commantary is relaxing, witty, yet cringy and still flows well for the entire duration of the video. It tells of a hiking story. Not too epic, but definitely interesting. Love it!
Thats really great to hear! Im happy people are vibing with it
Just was looking at my followed channels, clicked on yours and 8 min old video? W video
Perfect timing, thank ya!
So happy to see you post again
i love the videos so much they really inspire me to go out and explore 💪
Love to hear that!
i need more videos like this
Loved the video! When is your next upload coming out?
Well since you asked, I’ll upload one today
@@MinnowTank can't talk about better timing then that!
Nice work…
I understand the frozen shoe part. Once during the winter, I fell into a giant creek and got my legs soaked. That night at camp, I went to bed super early because my feet were so cold. When I woke up, the laces were so frozen that I could pull them up and they'd hold their shape like pipe cleaners. Thankfully, that was the last day and we were taking a shorter route out, since one of my friends injured himself the day before. My feet were completely numb the whole way back.
Yepp thats wild. The winter doesnt mess around
love these videos! i know there's only 2 so far but i instantly subbed from the first one. i'm curious, do you take walks or use the treadmill much on the regular? i had been walking a decent amount prior to winter, but now we're in spring and i've completely fallen off. i want to go on hikes and eventually a trip like this (though in a warmer season haha) but i know i must build up to it
Thanks, and I hope your hikes this year go great! For me personally, im decently active whether it be weightlifting or just casually playing sports outside, so its hard to say how much of an impact thats had on my hiking, but as long as you slowly build up your miles then you should be set!
this was great, i am planning on car camping this summer. eventually i'd like to Camp camp, but i am starting somewhere
I loved this video, I am currently researching set ups for my first backpacking adventure before i pull the trigger and fill out an amazon card out of impulse! I loved the perspective you gave on actually taking in all of the wonders of the trip rather than just worrying about the completion of the trip! 10/10 video in my opinion!! Thanks for sharing dude!
What’s the main pieces your looking at? I’m by no mean a master but been hiking all my life and got into camping a bit over a year ago
I just came back from my 2 night solo backpacking in backcountry of Yosemite. I have mixed love and hate feelings about it. I love the raw and realness of survival, I’ve learned a lot of what I’m capable of. Sometimes I don’t realize it till I put myself in an experience like this. I hate the uncontrolled elements like weather and creatures. It’s not for the faint of heart and there’s a lot of unknown factors when doing it with or without others.
I definitely feel that. For me, even though I know how unlikely running into dangerous and threatening animals is, i cant help but have it on my mind for the majority of the time. Still though, its always an experience of some sort haha and thats certainly worth something
I want to try backpacking but where do you find trails In your area that are long enough that you can camp along them?
You can call ranger stations, you can find their jurisdictions by looking up x state public lands arcgis, if your in the south East like me it’s a bit harder
What ive done so far is just look at “AllTrails”, put in filters such as how far I want the hike to be and that i prefer loops, and then i just pick somewhere that looks neat based from reviews and pics
Could you post the links to your gear? Or at least the backpack, tent, sleeping pad, water filter and hiking socks ? I like the look of them all
this video was awesome thanks this summer i’m going to try to go backpacking
What makes trekking poles men's or women's? 😆
Pretty sure nothing other than branding haha. All I can say for sure is that im happy with my women’s poles
hiked this exact gorgeous part of the appalachian trail a while, video brought back amazing memories, thank you.
Love this
Hey, Great Video. Just a quick tip. I keep my boots in my sleeping bag over night for drying and keeping them warm. Have fun with your future adventures!
Thanks !
Your videos are amazing dude! Hope to see you do more hiking/backpacking videos! You convey such a cozy vibe.
Can’t wait for your next hike!
