    Tims coin shop was the worst experience in a coin shop i ever had. I get you need to be personal with your clients, but he was just chatting with someone there for 45 minites while there was a line of people waiting for him, i ended up leaving after waiting almost 2 hours.

      I agree it can be frustrating, but at the same time when I experienced the same it was relaxing as far as feeling as if you were being treated as the only one there. As this is a lot to deal with, and when traveling far just to go there you don’t want it to become an all day affair. Thank you for your personal feed back and i appreciate you watching!

    I buy whatever catches my fancy and try to get it around melt or below. I reached my goals in 2021 on my core stack, so I buy when I have some extra fiat and the price is right. Lately I've been getting beautiful copper rounds. Probably overpaying for them, but I like them.

      @AllAboutTheMetal Před 14 dny

      I honestly don’t like stacking copper. Although I have bars. That’s because I’ve made them myself for free. So if it’s free and adds value I’m all for it. But where are you buying below spot? I’m still new at most of this. So I know there are some groups and sellers out there on pages. But any suggestions. I’d really like to get so “Junk Silver” but I’ve honestly been coin hunting a bit for that. So I don’t pay premiums

      @@AllAboutTheMetal I belong to a private auction group and when I have extra cash, I'll participate. There have been a number of occasions that I have been able to get gold and silver for spot or below. I'm in Canada and this is a Canadian group, but I'm sure that you can find American ones around. Recently I got melt 9.2 grams of gold for $15 below spot price, for example. When the deal is good, you go for it. Sometimes someone beats you to it, but sometimes you are the one that gets it. It keeps stacking interesting, since I've been doing it for 14 years.

But, I think keeping the Silver you have is better, you already have it. Trading it for Gold is debateable, usually you will lose on any transaction, buying or selling. @veritasfiles Před měsícem

    I have a very particular stacking strategy that involves ultimately getting to 18,000 ounces of Silver and 240 ounces of Gold. That would give me ample ability to maintain my current living standards in the future for a period of ten years, if I had no other money coming in. I stack in very particular way that is structured as follows: 50% of my stack is Constitutional or Junk Silver. The other 50% of my stack is .999 bullion divided into thirds. My Gold stack is exclusively 22k variety coins only, and only in sizes of 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce , and 1/10 ounce in only American Gold Eagles and South African Krugerrands. The Constitutional side of my Silver stack consists of Morgan dollars, Peace dollars, '64 Kennedy halves, Franklin halves, Walking Liberty halves, Washington quarters, Roosevelt dimes, and Mercury dimes. I try to keep my stack proportional, which means that if I have 100 Morgan dollars, then I automatically also have 100 peace dollars, 400 halves divided as evenly as possible between '64 Kennedys, Franklins, and Walking Libertys, 800 Washington quarters, 1,000 Roosevelt dimes, and 1,000 Mercury dimes. The proportionality probably has more to do with OCD than anything, but the Constitutional is likely the best or most barterable Silver, and the Silver with the most built-in numismatic potential in the longer-term without having that additional layer of value today. In other words, these kinds will continue to become less available and more rare over time, and while I may not benefit, my wife or my son may well benefit from the inherent numismatic/collectible value that these kinds of coins have. The other 50% of my stack is bull divided into thirds in the following categories: Government minted bullion 85% weighted toward American Silver Eagles but also includes the Maple Leaf, the Philharmonic, the Libertad, the Britannia, and the Silver Krugerrand. The second 1/3 of my bullion half consists of generic 1 ounce rounds, and the last 1/3 consists of generic 1 ounce bars. Why do I stack this way? I do it for variety/diversity, which essentially just equates to options. I also stick to 1 ounce varieties and below because it's easier to fake as you increase the size increment, and when it comes time to sell, I don't think that you can assume much about your future selling environment. As such, I want to have the largest possible universe of buyers when I go to sell, and there is nothing that I can't do with ten 1 ounce pieces stacked together that I can do when a 10 ounce bar. I just know that there will always be more people who can buy some fraction of a 10 ounce bar than can actually buy a 10 ounce bar itself. Larger increments give me ZERO advantages but decrease my universe of buyers. Yes, you can sometimes buy cheaper in bulk, but premiums aren't going to matter in a crisis, and we spend more money on snack items, eating out, movie tickets, vacations, and other things that we don't actually need than we're ever going to spend on premiums for 1 ounce coins or rounds related to bars for it to even matter. I would rather know I can find more buyers than to know I got a few more ounces for a cheaper price. Morgan dollars, Peace dollars, and American Silver Eagles and all sovereign or government minted 1 ounce coins have ZERO/NO IRS reporting requirements when sold back to a dealer or LCS. My reasons for Gold stacking the way I do are similar. First, 22k is closest to the circulation composition of 90% that you're going to find without intentionally buying the pre-33 Gold, which I don't like as much. I don't expect to ever see Gold coins circulating again, but so long as that's even a real possibility, I want coins that can circulate without being heavily damaged or defaced through use with the much softer 24k variety Gold coins. Coins are more liquid than bars in all cases, and I'm wanting the largest possible universe of buyers when I go to sell. In addition, fractional Gold can fill the place of a 10 or even a 100 ounce Silver bar, when it comes to the amount of money that I need. Yes, the premiums on fractional Gold are higher, but given the likely price rise and the fact that we will be making use of their wealth storage during a time of great crisis, the premiums are not going to matter. Options, inherent and growing value, reporting requirements, most recognizeable, and largest universe of buyers when it comes time to sell. That's really why. Oh, I keep nothing in capsules and everything is able to be handled, if necessary. Everything is kept in opaque white CoinSafe coin tubes. Air-tights massively increase the space necessary to hold my Silver, and Silver's Wealth Storage Density Capacity (WSDC) is already significantly less than Gold, making air-tights an absolute NO-NO for me. I could do air-tights for Gold, but I see no reason to do so. My 1/4 ounce Gold Eagles fit nicely into Washington quarter tubes, so I just put them in there. I also dollar-cost-average instead of trying to time the market. Typically DCAing will leave you with a lower cost per ounce than the average person who tries to "buy the dips" or time the market, and you also usually end up with more ounces as well. Everyone thinks they can time the market more perfectly than they actually can, but it often takes them years and years to realize that it's been a wasted effort and dollar-cost-averaging is, on average, the better strategy. Nice Gold pickup! Keep stacking!

  • @azwelke2638
    @azwelke2638 Před měsícem

    One thing about the fractional, is that if they discontinue it, it will skyrocket. If you look at the fractional, gold buffaloes, or the fractional, platinum eagles, you will see that they have value above their weight. So sometimes it can pay off to buy the fractional. Plus, you've already paid the premium upfront. So you're fractional is more desirable as a payment to somebody else. If it comes down to it, and you have to eat the premium, you will get the item before the guy next to you.

  • @azwelke2638
    @azwelke2638 Před měsícem

    I usually try to compare the 10 ounce silver bar to the 1/10 gold. If one is more expensive than the other, then I buy the less expensive one. I'm basically playing the gold of silver ratio but it's easy to see if you compare the price of a 10 ounce silver bar to 1/10 of gold.

    Buy gold coins by the ounce for the lowest premium cost. Don't get caught up in coin collector mode. You should decide if you want to be a stacker (cost only matters) or a collector (neato looks matters). Most think they are stacking but turn into coin collectors pretty quickly.

      Very true…if you’re not careful, you will be a collector and don’t even know it. IMO an oz of silver is an oz of silver. Try not to get caught up in the intrinsic value stuff because it won’t last

      I get where you’re coming from. I know buying 1Oz is better with cost of premiums. However when it comes to cash I’m not the best at saving it. So it’s better for me to buy the gold I can afford each pay check then not buy any. Also I’m definitely not collecting. Filling a tube just helps me keep working towards the next. No stack should just have rounds and bars only.

    20g bars are the sweet spot 2 bucks a gram to buy gold is by far best but 10g is 4 bucks or 5g for 8 dollars a gram....coins are nice but too much money held up in premium you mat or may not get back
