Grow Lights - Simple Beginner's Guide - Guide To Grow Lights For Houseplants - How and When To Use
In this video I try to make artificial grow lights less bewildering, keeping it as simple as possible as it can be so confusing when you read up on them. So the aim was to make this a simple beginner's guide.
I explain why we need and use grow lights for houseplants and plants in general, how and when to use them, the types of lights out there and colour wavelengths. I share my experience of trying to find the best lights I needed that had an IP rating.
I will be doing a another video which will get more technical covering PAR, LUX, PPFD, TEMP and more but this video is a good all round easy place for anyone to get some information about grow lights
The Lights I use which are featured in this video are:

Thanks❤
Thank you.
I have three leaves with stem in a bottle of water that I change weekly. No sign of roots after a few weeks, but the stems are black on the ends. Is that normal? Or are these stems a lost cause?
Thank you, I’ve never had an alocasia before I was wondering what that was shooting out of her 😂 I’m excited
What size are the pots you are using to repot? It's hard to tell from a video.
Hey. I think the clear pots in this video I used where 9cm and 12cm clear
Please 🙏
Thank you. I've a few videos on the cabinets
very informative straight forward information thank you, could you pleae update settings of this specific video make it not only for children that way I will be able to save it in my playlist, right now I can't, which makes so hard to the video next time, cheers
Hi. I just checked the settings of the video and it's set to the recommended. I'm confused now with the wording myself. Are you over 18?
Mushroom?
Such a relaxing voice 😊
Hehe thanks. I've had that said in a few of my video's. I'm not quite David Attenborough yet hehe
This is just what I needed, my plant had exceeded my expectations and has grown too long !! Thank you :)
Thank you. I'm happy it was helpful to you.
Haha, this is so funny. I have this all the time when a leaf gets stuck 😂
Looks like root fasciation to me.
Could be fasciation
Looks like what happens with some succulents maybe? They call it crested, so that foot would be a crested whatever that plant is named.
The plant app i checked with says it's Elephants Foot
Looks like a mermaid tail succulent
omg a mutant! i would've thought random fungus lol
This is called fasciation. It is a growth response caused by a virus. It is not a part of your money plant, looks like the other plant you mentioned. In nature, they occur quite commonly. For instance, on evergreen coniferous trees, these unusual growths are called "witches brooms", and are the sources for dwarf conifers, being vegetatively propagated and grown on from them. The art form of Ikebana also employs floral versions of certain plants for their Japanese arrangements.
Escuse me for the cuestión ¿what It is pon?
If you look for one of my past videos I explain PON and how amazing it is
Just planted my bulbs two days ago. How often should I water ? Can I keep them in the sun to grow. If I keep it indoors where should I place them ? I have so many questions 😭😭😭 pls help
Haha no problem. Just keep them slightly damp and warm and it will grow. These can grow outdoor and indoor. Don't worry to much it will grow I'm sure
I got some bulbs in the mail and never planted them. I threw them in some dirt and both are sprouting and growing beautifully. I had no clue which side was up or down lol. This is helpful though.
Thank you
That baby orchid 😮😍😍😍
Wow! Thank you so much for the in-depth step-by-step and useful information. I feel more comfortable trying pon out.
Beautiful cabinet
More.
I couldn't follow the one with the sticky hook. What is that?
I'm worried about the humidity with the sticky tape stuff. Heard about alot of people's stuff dropping 😮
If you see my main video about the 2nd cabinet I go over all the items
So when you rinse the PON before you use it, doesn't it remove the fertilizer?
Obrigada ❤
This is a heck of a good plant for my plant wall then. The constantly moist but never soggy fabrics are just as aery and wet as sphagnum! cant wait to try
Thanks so much
Your videos help me a lot thanks so much
How do I know how much water to keep in the reservoir?
I know this is old but you helped so much. Watering from the top in the beginning then set it on a reservoir. That's the part I was missing. Thanks
Thank you
Yes please!
Love your accent! I’d have liked you to continue voice editing this video. 🙂
where u get those magnets for your fan
I just switched to PON but many plants presents soft stem..
Simple and clever hack, thank you for sharing Mark :)
Glad you liked it 😊
W
slay thank u
Does pon ever get algae in a cabinet the way perlite does?
I've never noticed mine to
…Had no idea they even did that. Of course, I’m familiar with succulents cresting, but didn’t know _Pilea_ would!
Yea it's soo funky. Love nature
Same here method
Great video, if not the most informative on YT right now! Just one question: For the first weeks, how often do you water? Once a week or more often? I dont have clear pots to see it.
Hi Andrew. I would say once a week. Or better still. Look at the top of the substrate or feel it and see if it's still damp
Their not bulbs, their corms
Correct they are corms. I used the term Bulb as that's what general public use
Nice👍🏻👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 I'll try same
Thank you! I’ve recently got an alocasia as a gift and after my cat decided to chew on it, it started to lose leaves :( I always wanted to try pon, as I know that plants flourish in it, so I transferred my plant. I immediately put it in water, but I felt like this is not right, and your advice on letting it adapt was exactly what I thought about! So, I keep fingers crossed and hope my plant adapts well)
so cool, hope to see an update soon
Yes I will do. It's well overdue
Nice sharing sir❤😊
Lovedddd this video so helpful!!!!
Thank you
