I am so grateful that this concert was/is still available to view. This was such a fine concert given by two exceptional musicians. As a member of both RSO and SBSO, I have always known that Frank Fetta is a great "accompanist" as we would say, which really means that he can follow, compliment, and musically support and enable the soloist with whom he is working, in his case as a pianist or as a conductor. He is also a beautiful musician/pianist as we have heard in this concert, and he has formed a fabulous bond with this extraordinary cellist, Ruslan Biryukov, with whom I have also had the privilege of playing. We are so fortunate to count them as part of our musical family in Redlands.

Gong to miss all the summer gatherings this year. So many good memories.

I must admit I was a little resistant toward the first couple acts since almost everything, (the movements, the men’s and women’s dress, colors, fabrics, hair styles, and shoes), except the music was too different than what I know to be Guatemalan. However, everything that came afterward was very traditional, including the incense and the flowers to the toys that were tossed to the audience at the end, (called ron-rones -or “beetles” in its English translation- designed to emulate the insect’s sound which can be heard in this video after the applause subsides). I can almost smell all those fragrant aromas. Thank you, Redlands Bowl! You have made tiny piece of home available to me.

This is one of the best PR pieces I have seen in a very long time. What a pleasure to see friends like Larry and Bryan talking about what has been both a Redlands and a Town and Gown highlight for so many years, offering a tremendous opportunity to the community and to those who either might not be able to afford this level of entertainment or might never have had an opportunity to experience opera, live theatre, musical and dance performances, etc. We are truly blessed to have the Redlands Bowl and the surrounding community support.
