    Are your feet anchored (does someone hold them or are they hooked under something) or is it the candidate’s job to keep them in place?

    • @academyendeavors
      @academyendeavors Před 6 dny

      Your feet are usually anchored by the administrator. The more secure the foot are anchored, the less effort the situps will be. The other option is if you can find a bleacher or hooks to put your feet under, but this is less common to find.

    So, if you're a founder member of a JROTC athletics team, does that count as a sports team (It's called the raider team, its a nationwide AFJROTC team) or does it have to be a school sports team like football, basketball, or baseball?

    • @academyendeavors
      @academyendeavors Před 17 dny

      Lifeguard is usually not a manager or supervisor role; it's more of an individual contributor role. But don't get discouraged; there are usually more leadership roles through school clubs, sports, or community organizations than there is for work in the high school years.

    Is the application process different for college transfer students?

    • @academyendeavors
      @academyendeavors Před 25 dny

      For college students, it's essentially the same process. A few differences are as follows: they will ask for your college transcripts; you can also ask your college professors for a recommendation, as well as your ROTC commander if you are in ROTC; most likely you won't receive a LOA in the fall because your first semester college transcripts won't be finalized until much later, so you're notification window will most likely be in the spring (Mar/Apr). You still need to apply for a nomination, do the CFA, pass DODMERB, etc.

    • @academyendeavors
      @academyendeavors Před 25 dny

      If you fail the CFA, most likely they will notify you and give you a deadline to submit a new score. If you submit a passing score before the deadline, then you would be qualified. Most Academies require the CFA to be submitted before Jan 31. If you fail the CFA and its still many months ahead of the deadline, then they usually give you a deadline of 30-90 days to submit a new score.

Thanks!!

    • @academyendeavors

      Solid score! You should take it again if you feel like any of the scores weren't the max you're capable of, as USNA likes to see improvement and will allow multiple attempts. If you finish taking it and didn't improve, you can tell your administrator afterward to hold off on submitting until you take it again.

      A GPA alone is not enough information to assess competitiveness. The transcript has 4 critical components beyond merely GPA. 1) your performance compared to your peers (class rank), 2) the competitiveness of your high school, 3) the difficulty of your classes (AP/Hon/IB/DE), and 4) your performance in specific classes (Calc, PreCalc, Chem, Phys, Bio).

  • @seankim9143
    @seankim9143 Před 2 měsíci

    To be brutally honest, if you really want to be appointed by USAFA, identify the congressional districts that don't have a single applicant to USAFA and move there. As long as you meet the minimum requirements set by the academy, you will gain a congressional nomination and therefore gain an appointment assuming you don't have any medical disqualifications. From what I know, there are approximately 30 districts nationwide that don't have anyone applying to the service academies. By law if one of those states have ANY applicant in a given year, USAFA needs to accept them since every district in the nation gets at least one slot per year. Usually Colorado Springs and Virginia/DC area are extremely competitive for USAFA, due to the academy's location in the Springs and high military brat population in Virginia/DC. Those districts oftentimes get additional slots that were not used by 'non-competitive' districts that don't have any applicant.

    • @academyendeavors
      @academyendeavors Před měsícem

      The congressional district system isn't perfectly equitable, and there are some districts much more competitive than others. Moving to a different district isn't sometimes feasible for many families and includes a considerable amount of risk (some have other kids, or, what if your child's college preferences change after moving?). However, Title 10 federal law mandates that an Academy must offer at least one appointment per eligible district. In 2022-2023 for USNA, for example, all but 5 districts in the US had a qualified applicant. (Source: Institutional Effectiveness Assessment Report, USNA). It's not straightforward which districts those are and they can vary from year to year.

    My son received an offer to play football for the Naval Academy (and West Point). We enjoyed our visit and he hopes to make a decision soon. The coaches made it seem like an easy process to apply. He would go direct and not attend the prep school. He turned down all the Ivy League schools (no athletic scholarships). He just needs to make sure that he knows what all is involved and make sure he wants that lifestyle compared to a more traditional college like UConn.

    In a previous video is yours, 20% attrition rate for service academies. What's the reason? If academic, then "Brian" would have been a better choice than "Alex." Easier to develop the leader than develop the smarts needed to graduate. Also, chess club...that says a thinker and strategist, something the services absolutely need. Feedback on my comments please.

    • @academyendeavors
      @academyendeavors Před 2 měsíci

      The largest percentage of attrition is actually voluntary; that is, they voluntarily leave because they've chosen its not for them anymore. Some involuntarily attrit due to conduct or honor violations. And the smallest percentage is due to academics. Instructors at the Academies have more hands-on teaching focus (and less research focus) than a typical university, and therefore, if you want to succeed academically, you have all the resources necessary to do so.

I just want to clarify your statement from statistics. 25% athletics can lower an average(or mean) test scores, as you stated in the video, but not lower a median, in other words, 50% percentile. That's why most colleges, including USNA, provide 25-50-75 values to truncate low and high 25% groups. I have common data sets for USNA for the past 7 years up to the most recent one, because they are publically available. The median is not far from your average number, but rather a bit lower.

      I heard the same on another channel. It will be in affect for applicants entering in the fall of 2025.

      @@drticktock4011 Final acceptance rates will remain the same, but the first weeding-out process by nomination will be more generous and the nomination application is finished much earlier than academy applications. Thus, more applicants will be reviewed by each academy based upon their standards.

    I recently got waitlisted for nass, is there still a chance of getting accepted at a later time?

      Absolutely there's still a chance of getting accepted to the Academy. Sometimes there’s little correlation between those admitted at summer seminar and the official applications. They use it as a recruiting tool so they’re targeting a slightly different applicant pool than the typical class. We've had clients get turned down over the summer and still get accepted in the fall. Keep going!

    Thanks so much for the wealth of information offered in your channel!My daughter tried to do Part 1 of the USAFA application but it says she could not proceed to complete it because she’s still 16. She is a rising Senior but her birthday is on 8/2. Any advice? She went to CVW and is heading to the Summer Seminar of the USNA in June.

      The minimum age requirement for Academies are that you must be at least 17 by July 1st on the year you enter the Academy. So your daughter might be too young, and might need to apply the following year. www.academyadmissions.com/requirements/#:~:text=Be%20at%20least%2017%20but,Be%20of%20good%20moral%20character. uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=granuleid:USC-prelim-title10-section7446&num=0&edition=prelim

    My daughter tried to fill out the PreCandidate Questionnaire for the Air Force but couldn’t proceed because she’ll turn 17 in August. Is there a way to fill it out while she is still 16?

    Is not taking honors or AP classes counted against you if they are not offered at your school in that subject?

    • @academyendeavors
      @academyendeavors Před 3 měsíci

      Great question. Two points here. First, Your guidance counselor should submit your transcript and school profile to the Academies when you apply, and within those documents, it should be clear what is offered at your school so the Academies can determine if you are challenging yourself. We recommend talking with your guidance counselor about that before applying. Second, recommend looking into Dual Enrollment (DE) options at your local community college or online colleges. Academies view DE credits similarly to AP or Honors.
