Why Schindler's List is immoral
Auteur filmmaker Michael Haneke believes that "Schindler’s List" is an immoral film.
He points to one scene in particular, the shower scene, which he views as being especially immoral.
This video explores why "Schindler’s List" is potentially an immoral film about the Holocaust (and some reasons why it maybe isn't). It also discusses several Holocaust films which are more immoral than "Schindler’s List," such as "Life is Beautiful" and "Jojo Rabbit."

It's not that funny, she's just dumb
He's silent now. Olay. Says movie goer.
@xx99Username99xx wow and I thought my user name was complicated. Anyway this user is correct. You need some reasonable number of votes to be in the IMDB top 1000 never mind the top 250.
I still hold that the best joke in 30 Rock is the one where Jack asks Tracy about Kim Jong Il and Tracy says he shoots in a close up too much. "Comedy lives in a wide shot," he says in the scene's only wide shot. Really subtle on that punchline, but it really tickles me.
Why do you assume that she is stupid and not simply hilariously vindictive?
Awesome 😂
Isn’t the music score different also? I remember seeing a cut of Blade Runner that didn’t have Vangelis music.
terrible video. just absolutely awful i’m sorry
I honestly think just having one famous actor in an animated movie, even in a cameo, is far better marketing. While her performance wasn't great, Beyonce being cast as Nala actually does capture peoples attention because it feels like a good idea, and maybe there was another charismatic R&B diva who would actually be good at voice acting. However, having so much celebs is distracting at worse and meaningless for most audiences at best.
One silver lining is that they sometimes manage to sneak in a small but meaningful role for a voice actor in the recent Disney films. Young Nick Wilde (Kath Soucie), Anna & Elsa's dad (Maurice La Marche), and Jim Cummings on several movies, and they bring they A game to this.
longest joke explanation of all time? have you seen the 2h jeffrey bezos music explained by cj the x?
Jokes are funniest when explained
FUCKING CZcams, EVEN "EXPLANING A JOEK" THE GUY CRAMS IN MINUTES OF POINTLESS BACKGROUND LOL
this just goes to show that quantity is not quality because the real time experience of this joke has always fallen flat for me
Jokes are always funnier after you explain them. Subscribed. 👍
Why does everybody forget the awful treatment of voice actress Janet Waldo for Jetsons the Movie? She was replaced by a then celebrity as Judy Jetson. Google the casting controvercy for Jetsons the MOvie.
Xavier renegade angel has 10 plus jokes a minute with a minimum of 2 "layers" most have 3-4.
And they both had Donald Glover
My favorite episode is where Liz has to negotiate her contract with Jack and gets training Jacks DVD. When Jack realizes it he says he is playing with himself and it’s a Jack off
This may seem somewhat naive or perhaps childishly optimistic of me to express this topic via a CZcams comment, but I have to say that this is an incredibly flawed video overall that I will only touch on certain aspects that bothered me most in the video, forgive me for this comments lengthy-ness; The title of the film 'Life is Beautiful' is clearly making a point of finding hope in the hopeless, the humour in the absurdity of the most evil aspects of human nature, finding both hope and humour even in the most dour and violent of times, to be resilient and almost maintain an innocent and child-like mind in a tough and unforgiving setting that being the Holocaust broadly speaking, and not let the hatred and evil of others corrupt the soul that you are. the film may not conflate well with everyone with the holocaust being presented in that particular way which is completely understandable if one has personal reasons to truly believe so, but 'Life is Beautiful' definately isn't treating the holocaust like some kind of joke or something to make fun of, it's clearly conveying a message of pointing out the absurdity of the most evil of human nature and the power of resilience and hope for goodness even in the darkest of times, that amongst many other themes it also expresses like love and compassion. Another point is to say that Taika Waititi was 'very keen' on expressing in Jojo Rabbit that their were nice nazis too and to disregard it sarcastically as 'very cool' and to note that it's considered "problematic" is quite misguided to say and also a close-minded thing to say ultimately in the grandness of everything, Jojo Rabbit by Taika Waititi is clearly trying to point out and remind viewers in our current time of viewing a moment of history such as WW2 or the "Holocaust" that good people still do exist even if they are on the opposite side of whatever that opposition may be about, and most importantly that some can even change out of pure will and choice after reflecting and deciding to make a change within themselves after they question the beliefs they have been led on. Some had no choice, some never even knew and/or were originally misguided by superiors and authorative figures untul deciding to do something about it. What i'm trying to say is that there were 'nice nazi's' out there in this horrific time of history, some realised it sooner than others, some even went as far to disobey and do the right thing in spite of the danger it likely pursued, some were killed and some sacrificed themselves to save even one life of a Jewish polish person, some of it is written, some never will be found. It's important to teach people that the choice to be good towards others is always within our grasp, even if at times it doesn't feel like so, and that we as human beings are clearly capable of distinguishing right from wrong, it doesn't have to be questioned. Jojo Rabbit as a film even questions the very belief that Jojo was taught and conditioned to believe by exploting his most youtful and impressionable mind that the Nazi's superiors were clearly trying to exploit upon and fixate them to believe. Jojo takes a Jewish girl under his care, because deep down he believes what is the right thing to do, even when Jojo may not even know that. I haven't seen the film in ages but it seemed like it was making that point somewhat clearly. that goodness is inherent in all of us and that we always have a choice to do what is right, even when we don't know that. I can only write so much till mental exhaustion ensues, but that is my rough initial idea of what was lingering in my mind as I watched the video, some ideas could definately be better phrased or expressed further upon by myself in greater and even lengthier detail. But I hope this expresses something more important than what is arguably a superficial and careless statement made by the creator of the video in these aspects of the films "Life is Beautiful" and "Jojo Rabbit".
"A book hasn’t given me this much trouble since ‘Where’s Waldo went to that barber pole factory" will never not be my favorite line, but god this one kills me too. If you read Fey's autobiography, there's a lot of the improv background in there and how it inspires this scene. So good.
They say if you explain a joke it stops being funny. Well, damn if this doesn't disprove that. I didn't get this joke at all, it was just words, now it's one of the funniest things I've ever watched.
“For anyone who doesn’t know who Sling Blade is… Sling Blade is the name of Billy Bob Thornton’s character in the 1996 movie Sling Blade.” I guess you didn’t see the movie or even read a summary. But cheers to your self confidence!
The best multiplayer joke in Community is in Modern Warfare when abed compares Jeff and Britta to Ross and Rachel. He says, "That is why, and understand this one every level, we are not Friends." Works on three levels: 1. The study group are not friends. 2. The study group is not the show Friends. 3. Community is not the show Friends.
I think it's one of the funniest ones ❤
His name was Karl. A sling blade (he calls it a kaiser blade) was the murder weapon Karl used to kill a man and his mother.
30 Rock is the most overrated show of all times.
My favorite joke is Tracy Jordan in Cash cab: "I remember going to the statue of liberty centennial, because someone spread a rumor that she was gonna slip out of her toga, and I wanted to see some green boobies. And the Mets had just won the world series cuz that night I was randomly attacked by a Mets fan that I had threw a bottle at. That was 1986. And centennial is a hundred years, because centipeding means having sex with 100 women. I got it! 1886!"
God I love 30 Rock. Watched the whole show through at least 5 times and it still gets more laughs than any other show I've ever watched. Will always be a stan
I think it was all one big dream within dreams type thang
Gaf's line at the end says "Good Work You Did A Man's Job" meaning Deckard was a replicant. Best SI Fi EVER..
The best version is the theatrical cut. It explains a lot that the Final Cut doesn't and the Final Cut is missing important scenes that complete the story. Final Cut leaves things vague and is less enjoyable than the Theatrical. Final Cut is more of a bonus to see Ridley's interpretation. Next time, please don't lie to the CZcams audience. People will see the Final Cut and be bemused by its vagueness, which is the reaction most have when they see it first and then right off the film... Its unprofessional for you to blatantly lie.
Reaching a different conclusion to yours is not lying to the audience, and audiences not engaging with art that is vague is not a besmirch on the art but on the stupidity of audiences.
@@R0CKDRIG0 Sounds like Media Literacy gaslighting nonsense from tankies. Spare me the disingenuous and pretentious cornball takes Einstein. Geez Louise.
My favorite joke is when Kenneth was trying to help Hazel with Tracy telling her that Tracy needs to take his medication to stay sane and she refused because she was going to do things her way and Tracy yells in the background “ I’m in the show within a show. my real name is Tracy Morgan!!”
You know what’s not funny? A joke explanation 😅
Rate your music has the best list of films
I always wondered about this! Thank you so much for making a video about it.
Great video! Thank you so much!
I think the most meta joke from 30 Rock is when the crew is all running down several flights of stairs and passing people on each landing, one of whom is a homeless man played h Hannibal Burress, who has made multiple appearances as that same homeless man. The joke was Liz rushing past him and saying “Sorry, reoccurring homeless guy!”
Another underrated part of this joke is that Liz calls it “French fry potatoes” - not French fries or potatoes. So many jokes crammed into 12 seconds.
there’s a fourth layer: oprah’s penchant for yo-yo dieting
Liz: “why are you wearing a tux?” Jack: “It’s after six…what am I, a farmer? Best joke in 30 Rock.
The biggest joke of all is that you explained the joke, and somehow it's still funny if not funnier.
Sure….but did you catch the 4th layer of the joke? No? The main character of Sling Blade is called Karl Childers not Sling Blade. It’s funny because it calls reference to the naivety, of not only the characters of 30 Rock, but us as members of the audience. Because the joke wouldn’t work at all, if they were doing Improv as Oprah and Karl Childers.
Sling blade isnt the character. Its what he calls a knife made from a lawnmower blade.
You know Dan Harmon is an amazing writer when this videos example clips get genuine chuckles out of me every time.
They were making fun of Oprah’s never ending battle with weight loss. How did you miss the most obvious one?
Dissecting a joke is like dissecting a frog, you killing it process.
30 Rock still has the best comedy writing of all time.
My favorite joke was the episode where Liz gets a wedding dress, then defends wearing it at the office saying "In korea they wear white to funerals" then later in the episode Tracy asking "Did a Korean person die?"
