Welcoming the 2024 Alt Protein Project cohort
The Alt Protein Project (APP) finds, trains, and empowers talented students at key universities to build the academic ecosystems needed for the alternative protein field to succeed.
The Good Food Institute established the first APP university student groups in 2020, and our program continues to grow year after year. In 2024, we are excited to welcome 21 new student groups with a footprint in 4 new countries: Argentina, Chile, the Republic of Korea, and Spain. In this video, student leaders joining the Alt Protein Project share their personal stories and reasons for joining the program and share their goals and vision for the coming years.

    I just discovered the GFI through this video. This is very intersting for me and exactly the information I was seeking. At the same time I have trouble taking in everything because the slides are so densly packed with info that is not corresponding one to one to what the speaker is saying. The text on the screen and the text read is clashing with each other and sometimes I end up understanding neither.

    I just finished the course offered by the Good Food Institute, and found it absolutely fascinating and visionary. I am 75 years old, but I will never stop learning and hoping for a better future for humanity. I am a life long learner, and it will be hard for GFI to get rid of me now. Before taking the finals and getting credit for taking the course, I am going to devour everything I can find on this subject. It is, as far as I am concerned, is only one area where this new science can benefit our world. Thank you, GFI.

    Great idea to hear about professor. Would be good to know the functionality of these proteins to find future applications. Also Hydrogen seems to be a common problem being solved so it might not really be a limitation in the future

    Interesting initiative. Thanks for sharing. One question. If meat is still regarded (ref. Tuft Food Compass) as less than optimal food for humans, why are you trying to cultivate meat? Personally I believe it is a great initiative, but being carnivore I am biased. To cultivate meat from real meat makes alot of sense to me, as a means to reach a larger customer market, to preserve land (including the need for plant based agriculture) and definitely improve animal welfare. Definitely worth following your progress. Good luck.
