If only the parents knew what their so called wonderful children where actually doing in this school they would have joined the principal instantly with no hesitation, even would have disowned their children and make them leave home
Mrs. Barrett doesn’t like Mr. Clark after he threw out 300 juvenile delinquents and then when one person tried to enter the school, he chained the doors and then, after a while, went to the court to get the fire marshal. They have arrested Mister Clark Recording his voice on a walkie talkative. Then as his students went and protested them out and then when Miss Levias went to the school board with test results, they free, Mr. Clark, and there was nothing they could do but keep Eastside High School safe, in Patterson New Jersey as his students sang the school anthem as his reward at the end of the night and the graduation ceremony.
It's always some boy's momma that starts trouble. I've long assumed her son was probably the one expelled student that beat up Kid Ray later in the movie and tried to stab Joe Clark.
In such a short speech, he has spoken more truth than other corrupt and selfish politicians and irresponsible parents. Clark should have ran for Presidency; I'll bet that he'll be able to clean up and fix America way better than any other recent Presidents could.
I never understood why people argue the truth??? It may hurt but it's still the truth...and that goes for just about everything. If it bothers you that much then you've got some work to do!
What's ironic about this scene is the fact that those kids that Mr. Clark threw out as he mentioned had been there four to five years (some probably longer). You have these parents that were unwilling or unable,( more than likely unwilling) to get them on track. Now they're in this meeting making all type of excuses whining, crying, moaning, and groaning against Joe Clark for doing his job when over that same time frame they failed to do theirs as parents.
How do you know the kids who were threw out weren't the actual good ones? Technically Mr Clark is the bad guy here because he wants you to BELIEVE that he's keeping the students safe without addressing the fact that more apples could already be within the school that he wants to lock up. And honestly he was one of those bad apples. I havent read the full story on the real Joe Clark but I assume his life story was twisted around to sell a movie.
@@KrisBryant99sorry for the late response, but it was pretty clear that the expelled students were all lost causes. Clark had the faculty write the names of all the troublemaking students. The teachers all knew who such kids were and got them gone.
Of course of the black lady got mad about him talking about welfare. And am Hispanic btw and am still seeing the same problem with schools nowadays we've still got little batards running around on campus.
I showed this to my dad over a decade ago, not long after I first saw it. He and a close friend of his (both were HS teachers) felt that my high school was just like Eastside. Overall, it wasn't as bad as Eastside was shown to be. We didn't beat up teachers to the point where 911 needed to be called and you didn't have students rip off the shirts other students were wearing. However, students who wrote on the walls used pens and markers and we did have a couple of drug searches while I was in HS.
My relative was a teacher at a tough school like this and he said the most discouraging thing to him was no parents would come or most wouldn't even call on parent-teacher night. One dad called him and apologized profusely that he couldn't be there because he worked trick shift, so my relative said, "You're the only parent who even called me so you've got my full attention for the next hour," and they worked out a study plan for the guy's kid.
if Principal Mr. Joe Clark were alive today and gave a speech like this in 2023, we're going to hand ourselves a panic through the 4th of July and start World War 3!
I bet you her son was the one that pulled the knife on Mr. Clark!!
"He didn't say: Joe ! Be polite !" Thats my favourite quote!
R.I.P Lynne Thigpen :'( (she's the Entitled Mother)
A man with principles. That’s why they have the role
Electrifying. I would gladly spend many more hours watching Morgan Freeman and Lynne Thigpen go to-to-toe.
Man i keep wondering who her son is
If only the parents knew what their so called wonderful children where actually doing in this school they would have joined the principal instantly with no hesitation, even would have disowned their children and make them leave home
Joe Clark is leadership
When I first saw this movie, I was like ,”That’s the Carmen San Diego lady!”
I have a feeling her son is the Major Drug pusher in school.

Today's the 35th anniversary of the movie coming out!
This is how most parents be nowadays, they expect teachers to parent their kids and the outcome is worse than the expecting results
Yeah lady point the finger at him for your son’s behavior. You seem to forget the other three fingers that are pointed at you.
It's always some boy's momma that starts trouble. I've long assumed her son was probably the one expelled student that beat up Kid Ray later in the movie and tried to stab Joe Clark.
Gotta be Morgans greatest performance. What a great story and Movie

We need more like him.
Where in the world is Carmen San Diego?
"MY SON AIN'T NO BAD APPLE!"
Lynn Thigpen (Mrs. Barrett) pride of Joliet, Illinois.
You can see I like movies
You know whats funny when the lady said we are not in church. He ignored her and continued to preside over a rebuking service
Democracy at the school district means the school is run by idiots
One parent is seeing red.
0:33 “Oh Sit Down!”
0:15 “you’re a fascist Clark!”
1:04 “My son ain’t no bad apple!”

All this man wanted to do was make a different and this crazy lady was taking it the wrong way
Of course of the black lady got mad about him talking about welfare. And am Hispanic btw and am still seeing the same problem with schools nowadays we've still got little batards running around on campus.

We need more Joe Clark's in our Schools even today.

They picked THE BEST guy for this part. IF Morgan Freeman ever ran for president of the USA, I WOULD VOTE FOR HIM!!!!
