Good running session. An enjoyable watch. These Railroad 9 F models are great runners and a good balance between detail and durability. Cheers Paul 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃.
Thank you Paul - That was quick - I've just only have up-loaded the video!!! Funny you should say that it is a Good Runner & durability - after I had finished filming - It was just going up my JJ's Corner slope - then all of a sudden I heard a stretching noise, then all of a sudden - it rolled back down backward down my JJ's Corner slope - I could hear the motor running but the loco was not moving & the wheels are now free wheeling!!! 😐🙁🚂🚂🚂
Sorry to hear that. you may have to check the gear set and the cog on the driving axle. The parts are X9909 for the gear set and X9910 for the wheel set. Try Lendons of Cardiff. My King Arthur did the same and it was the axle cog. I just fitted a new wheel set. Hope this Helps. 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃
Really coaches, and well explained Jimy 👍 i tenc toward southern railroads but that NBR looks so nice.
Thank you Danthehorse - I think I understood what you said (you missed out a few words & letters!!!) Thank you for watching & glad you found my video well explained!!! 😊🚂🚂🚂
I know haven't got a lot of room but how about using an Diamond cross over for something a bit different
Thanks for the idea, but this is a real old video & this Layout does no longer exists!!! To see my Latest Layout - in my Railway Room (which used to be my Bedroom b4 I converted it) Please go to the following Link :- czcams.com/video/Nc5jn60_BEc/video.html Thank you in advance 😊🚂🚂🚂
Hi Jimy, Slow speed records is real way to imprese public. I would like to say that analog speed records are very difficulct, but digital as well. There are thema in German forum which call wie Langsam ist Langsam. I think you shoul look it and maybe post there your own record. There are a lot of impressive videos with calculation. Those who can beat longer time for few mm are winners. Also you could see analog record of of Hrvoje Trains here in YT. There is a fantastic performance. I would like to say that there was not made any controller for slow performance. Every Brirish or German best controllers have their problems. The ideal controller should have logarithmic potentiometer, whith a huge knob. And a possibility tho change type of DC. Impulse, halfwave, 3 stage PWM and so on. There should be a mixture of Teichmann, Heiswolf, Gaugemaster, Duette, Titan and Siemens-Arnold controllers with some ideas of industry controlles as well. I could tell that there is no new 3 stage PWM for model train exist yet.
Hello Alexander_sth Yeah going slow is difficult to do - I got the idea from Sam's Trains - every time he does a review - he always see how slow he can get them to do!!! I can't speak German so I think that I would just get lost in the German Forums & wouldn't understand what was going on!!! But thank you any way & thank you for watching 😊🚂🚂🚂
Good work JJ. Also, the person who asked the question got his answer, which is very good indeed. Bee
Yes Bee & thank you 🙂🚂🚂🚂
Thank you very much Jimy, Now I see that Duette with full resistans mode could provide 0.3 v. But your locomotives start to move from 1 v. That is great reserve, similar to Gaugemaster. It could handle HAG locomotives with 3 pole motor which could work from 0.6-0.8 v. Very good indeed.
Thank you Alexander - Glad that I was able to help you out!!! 😊🚂🚂🚂
Hallo, what is the minimal voltage for the start could provide those controllers in half wave and high resistans mode for start?
Sorry I have no clue - try Google!!! 😉🚂🚂🚂
@@Jimyjames73 do you really believe in Google in that thing? Even if fabrics do not telling the real data? Actully they use trick - 0...14. But 0 is not starting point. Only one fabric used to write true - 1.5-14V, it was Titan, but late versions only. Do you have multimeter?
@@Alexander_Sth Oh ok - not sure if I 'believe in Google' - haven't really thought about it t. b. h. Did think about a multimeter, might have 1 somewhere, but not too sure about how to use it thou... 🤔🚂🚂🚂
@@Jimyjames73 for sure nice joke, but you are so experienced modeller that I believe you could teach how to do it many other coleagues... I would be very happy if you measure it.
@@Alexander_SthHello Alex. To clarify, you want the minimum voltage across the terminals, with nothing connected, at half wave?
Hi, the blue Lima dock shunter was my very first loco that I bought for myself back in the late 70’s, I remember it very well and how it ran very well, I eventually got my hands on a Hornby mains powered controller a few months later, the Hornby Flying Scotsman was my second locomotive and that was a great addition, thanks for sharing.
Very good - do you still have them thou??? Thank you for watching 🤔🚂🚂🚂
Thank you for doing this. Really helpful
Well thank you rstuff66 - I'm glad that my video was Really helpful to you - just wondering - in what way thou - was it the way how you colour your hair??? 🤔🚂🚂🚂
What a smooth runner! I like it. But that red 7 plank waggon has something special 😉
Thanks Bee 😊 & that is the reason why I got that Red Wagon - not only Red is my Fav Colour but also it has my Name on it as well!!! Thank you for watching Bee 😉🚂🚂🚂
I have one of these repainted BR green with yellow front & rear warning ends. Its renumbered 2784 using Press Fix numbers & BR Lion logo. It runs on my layout under ye olde Hornby Zero One 1st generation DCC as Loco #9.
Ok - Thanks for watching 😊🚂🚂🚂
Why are you bashing the trains into the wall?. Very strange.
I'm not bashing my Locos into the wall - at each end I do have R394 Hydraulic Buffer Stop - so they just bounce back - It's a bit hard to film at the same time control the Loco!!! Thanks for watching 😉🚂🚂🚂
Great set 🤩
Thank you - yep it is good starter Set to get - Thanks for watching 😊🚂🚂🚂

Excuse me, how can I plug in the HM 2000 Power Controller? I am trying to find out how to plug it in.
The HM 2000 comes with wires, a mains Lead which plugs in at the back under the On / Off switch (you can see @ 6:13) & then it comes with 2 set of smaller wires which plugs in at the back - use either controlled 1 or 2 (see on my video @ 6:03 do the reverse) then you will need a Power Track R8206 From Hornby.com £11.99 - Then you will see it has 2 little button on it - press the left button & insert 1 wire, then do the same for the right button - hope that helps 😉🚂🚂🚂
Very nice locomotive JJ. Good choice!

Good review of a lovely model. The reason there is no water scoop is that the Southern Railway had no water troughs. They compensated by using the 8 wheel tenders. Thanks for showing. Regards Paul.

Hi, I am presuming this doesnt come with track. Do you know how much track this takes to fill the bridge? Was wondering if I can start my curves right on the end to fit into my layout or if the straights would come out past the dimensions of the bridge?
Hiya - Your Right - No track comes with the Bridge - I have use on each bridge 2 x R603 Long Straight Track £6.70 from the Hornby Web Site (thou you might get it cheaper from your Local Model Shop). Yes you can start your curves from the end of the Suspension Bridge - that is what I have done, on 2 of my Bridges I do also have a small Straight at 1 end - so you can do both!!! Hope this helps🤔🚂🚂🚂 JJ
@@Jimyjames73 thanks for replying, I've decided against it, my layout is 2400mm wide and need to run 3rd radius turns either side of this which would take me within millimetres of the edge of the base. Will set my sights a little lower and go with a small brick bridge with adjoining walls.
@@matthewsymmons5852 If you look at the instructions of the Suspension Bridge - it tells you that you can have a smaller Suspension Bridge only using 1 Main Tower only 724 mm long - does that help??? 🤔🚂🚂🚂
Also the overall length of the Grand Suspension Bridge is 1391 mm Long 🙂🚂🚂🚂
Thanks, that's good to know. I've gone with some Metcalfe bridges, although not as grand, I like the detail on them and probably better suit my english countryside setting. Thanks for vid and your replies
