Great hunt. Congrats young man. 👏
Wouldn’t eat them, so don’t hunt them.
What state and unit?
What a joke,do you really expect experienced hunters to believe your video? 200 yards my ass
Very sporting man and machine. We used to give the game a sporting chance by walking in by foot not machine
Too cool!!!
Ballz...... that was an awesome experience to share and I'm a bit jealous haha but congrats to your young huntin buddy!!!
One of the coolest hunts I’ve seen
Did you make a donation when you put in for this young man’s application?
Jack O'Connor would never be caught dead sheep hunting with a setup like this.
awesome hunt! congratulations young man!
Thanks a bunch!!
DANG!!!! Don't pay any attention to the nay sayers here!!! most don't understand this hunt and how special and how difficult it is to draw this hunt! Winning the lottery may be just a bit harder!!! the coaching was 100% the best coaching I have ever seen! To calmly speak to this young man and calm his nerves and there was the practice dry firing, great Idea!! Who cares that someone carried the rifle for this young man! Hell people pay for guided hunts all the time and the guides do all the heavy lifting! This young man still had to find the nerves, calm the nerves, put the crosshair or dot on the animal and hold it while making the shot!!!!! Yes!!! and God knows why this young man drew this special tag but it will be revealed to his family if it hasn't already! Great Job to all What was the age and score? I got mine in 2018 Hatchets he was 13 years old score 176
Thank you, @Brumasterj the ram was aged at 11 years old and his official score with B&C came in at 177 1/8th
Congratulations on your ram as well! Sounds like a giant ram as well! 🙌
Are these draw licenses? Or private? How did you get a license if nonresident? They only offer like 5 permits in New Mexico. Good job.
The permit for this hunt was drawn through the normal public land draw process in New Mexico. Very lucky indeed. Thank you!
So first of all I would like to say congratulations to the young man and his family. Looks like an amazing experience for you all. Secondly I thought I would pose a question, I see some comments that are not as positive below, given that this was a once-in-a-lifetime hunt by title and definition at least in NM, what is the breaking point for when its "okay" for a hunter to get this opportunity, do they have to hold the rifle the duration of the hunt, do they have to pack everything out themselves in order for it to be "okay" is it simply an age thing? Where is the line drawn as to when and who should get these type of hunts? It all seems very subjective to me, and I am curious as to what others thoughts are in regards to this?
Hard to say but I think maybe it’s different for every hunter and every family 🤷♂️
Congrats! Great ram! Which hunt area was this?
The hunt took place on the Caballos unit.
Great hunt. Thank you for your service! What's that tent you're sitting next to in the intro?
What a great video and hunt! Congratulations on that amazing experience Parker and family and friends. Keep up the good work in parenting and sharing hunting experiences!
Thank you Jacob!
Congratulations to Parker and everyone that got to participate in the hunt. Looked like he had a great support from start to finish. What an amazing ram, and a great story!
Thank you Wyatt!
What an amazing story! So inspiring to see people not afraid to share their faith in the world we are living in. Great example to us all! Congratulations on a giant ram!
Thank you! God bless!
So incredible amazing job Parker and great job Dad. If you don't mind me asking, the title says biggest sheep in NM for 2023 what did he end up scoring?
Thank you Joe, the ram ended up scoring 177 1/8th Boone and Crocket after the 60 day drying period.
There was another sheep sky lined, standing above you guys
So cool! We didn’t know it until we got home and watched the raw film. Made for a perfect closing shot.
Did you see the Ram above you on the Drone footage? Very Cool!
Such an awesome shot. We didn’t know the ram was in the picture until we were back and looking at all the raw film. Just one more lucky deal in this whole story. 🍻
Before I provide my comments I want it to be known that I participated on this hunt and have known the father for over 20 yrs. I’ve been reading the comments and I have been compelled to address a few of the negative opinions on the father’s judgment and character that’s based on a snap shot of several days of hunting. Making such harsh opinions on a few minutes in time seems unfair to me. I also wanted to praise those that provided positive feedback. I even appreciate the persons view point that a coveted tag like this should be reserved till a child is older, so I hope my comments will shed some light for future viewers so they will have a better foundation to provide an opinion if they choose to do so. For some background information, I currently manage the largest organized hunt program in the country. I deal with over 1,000 hunters a year and I’ve done this for the past 20 yrs in different capacities. I have personally guided/escorted hundreds of hunters young, old, male, female and most of them for FREE. I have had the privilege of taking several Make-A-Wish children on their last hunt of their lives and mobility impaired and wounded warrior hunters. I have been on 8 governor tag hunts so I’ve been with the inexperienced to the most elite hunters. My life has been about providing positive experiences for hunters of all walks of life regardless if they harvest an animal or not. I don’t say this to boast but to affirm I’ve seen and been in almost every situation. I have witnessed the rawest of emotions and hidden vulnerabilities in people. These special moments that were recorded is reality. They could have easily been deleted from the video but it shows the emotion of the situation. The courage and strength of the father and uncle to be an example to his son to take time in the middle of the hunt to comfort and pray and seek peace for their loved one. This is a life lesson he will carry with him forever. Moments like these shape character and resilience regardless of age, and leave lasting impressions. He will never forget the time he felt doubt and despair and reached out to his creator to lift him up and let him know everything was going to be okay and he OVERCAME! He will always know he has the support of his family and he will never be alone. Hunting isn’t about what we harvest, it’s what we learn in that experience that allows us to become better people. It is the process and journey, not so much the result. It is about humbling ourselves. I know this is how this child is raised. The father was willing to walk away at any point of that hunt and he told his son that several times before and after each attempt. He also had the support of his mother who was there every second. That being said, I have personally been with adult men that threw up before a shot and I’ve had many others that were shaking so uncontrollably they couldn’t even shoot in the exact same situation Parker was in. I had a hunter almost faint because they stopped breathing getting caught up in the moment and I have seen adults cry before and after the shot. I had a 75 year old Vietnam veteran that stopped hunting after coming back from the war, but still applied for 25 years because his dream was to hunt an Oryx. He drew that once in a life time hunt and it was the first time he picked up a rifle since the war and he emotionally broke down before he could finish the hunt as he struggled with his past and taking the life of an animal. Each one of us reacts differently to the same situations based on our experiences, based on our knowledge, support and circumstance in that specific moment in time. Whatever your opinion; we should always have compassion. This is what makes hunting so special. We should learn, we should grow, we should value our journey and come closer together with family and friends. There are the bonds I’ve made with complete strangers that I cherish because I shared a special moment in time with them. I will forever be tied to this special moment with Parker and his family and I am honored. As for Parker, he was well engaged in this hunt. Filming anyone glassing for hours at the same sheep doesn’t make for a good video. He was behind the glass the entire time and there are a few clips with him doing so. You also don’t see the handful of additonal dry fires they took each time they set up on the ram to make sure he was ready to take an ethical shot. There was an enormous amount of consideration for Parker’s wellbeing that was not shown on this video. He also had times of being a kid, but he is definitely a hunter. He has harvested several big game species to include an off range oryx which can be very difficult without a good tripod to shoot over the brush. I personally have used the same set up for many hunters at every experience level. I have used that same set up for myself and if that tripod didn’t weight 10lbs I would take it with me in the backcountry. All this to say, our words have meaning and have consequences. Park is 11, he can read. He will read these comments about his father and once again he will receive love and guidance and understanding so he will continue to grow and be the man I know he will become because of his father, family and friends. Respectfully, Gilbert Villegas
Thank you for some more insight Gilbert! Much appreciated 🍻
Awesome video! Nice job dad! Way to keep it cool and calm your son. This is a memory that he will cherished forever! Congratulations Parker!!! Amazing video in so many ways!
Thank you very much! 🍻
Don't agree with this Dad and friends did everything except pull the trigger. Not once did I see him with the glasses in his hand didn't touch the rifle except to pull the trigger and he hasn't even broken a sweat. People wait all their life for this opportunity and never get it. Dad probably even put the cross hairs on it the first time. This isn't hunting it's shooting but I guess all that matters to his dad is that its on the wal
way to stress this kid out talking to him a million miles per hour, Made him cry. Just let the kid do his thing.
Congrats Parker !!!!
We will pass this along to the family! 🍻
What caliber is he shooting
It is a Tikka .270
All you experts are jealous! I am 73 years old and applied for goats and moose here in MONTANA for at least forty years and never drew a tag. I watched this young man grow within a span of several hours and he did the deed when he had the shot! I watch this with so much anticipation as though I was there with him. He has memories that will last a lifetime. My congratulations to dad and all those who took the time to make his trip special!
Thank you for the comment, much appreciated perspective.
You nailed it! Enough said!
Congratulations guys. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you!
Very cool. Quite an ordeal for everyone. Good job by everyone and congratulations Parker.
Thank you! 🍻
Good video but I have to agree that the kid did not know what he has done and won’t for many years . I’ve been applying in 5 different states for more that 20 years without any tags.
Totally understand, the dad has been putting in for every raffle and application for sheep he can find for about 15 years and has over 20 points in a few states as well. God works in mysterious ways, but after all his effort there is now a sheep in their house and the lightning struck where it struck. Maybe it was meant to be for some reason or the other. 🤷♂️🍻
Sorry, I'm a hunter and that a little F-ED UP! The kid is obviously feeling A LOT of pressure.......bad dad in my opinion, and YES, I have kids too!
What was F-ED up? That he didn’t force his kid to shoot when he wasn’t ready? He was feeling a lot of pressure but his father had him take a minute to collect himself and consoled his boy. Nothing F-ED up in my opinion
Wow didn't you really don't know much about hunting there's always pressure an they told him several times to relax he had time
100% @USoutdoorsman!
Not sure we understand your stance, at what point was the dad not being a calming influence and taking pressure out of the situation? Parker was much calmer when the shot was taken than the first set up that they let the ram walk away. The second set up and shot was taken almost 4 hours after Parker was a little overwhelmed on the first set up and was obviously much more ready on round two.
@@southernstormoutdoors4006 Check your grammar....and no, I don't feel pressure before I shoot because I know what I'm doing and confident in my ability.
I’m all for kids hunting love it all but for a kid to get a once in a lifetime tag makes me bitter. He has no idea what he has he can’t appreciate what he has. Species that are plentiful let’s go bring on the kids but something like this! I’m sorry wait your turn! I’ve put in my whole life with no luck my dad put in his whole life and had now passed without a tag. I think they should make you put in at least 10 years straight before even being able to draw.
I have very mixed feelings about these youth hunts. A lot of the time (and I'm not saying it's the case in this particular video) it's the adults living vicariously through the youth that has the tag. The youth does nothing but get dragged around the desert or the mountain and simply pulls the trigger - after the adults setup the rifle and dial the turrets. The appreciation argument is a difficult one. A lot of adults don't necessarily appreciate tags that they draw either. It's a delicate situation, for sure. In a perfect world, kids are afforded opportunities on deer before they graduate to a once in a lifetime tag. But as long as the state is willing to issue a tag to a youth, parents have all the right in the world to apply for their kids.
That’s why I like Alberta’s point system. Here you accumulate enough points you will get it.
I’m from the great state of New Mexico and I love it. Everyone is salty about this, tobad your parents didn’t love you this much 😂 Doug and his team did a excellent job.
Quit being so jealous... I'm happy for the kid he's done something I'll never do but I'm not one but jealous
Totally understand your stance, the dad is very engaged and has tried to draw a sheep tag for more than half his life in multiple states. Unfortunately the math doesn’t change when we take youth hunters out of the equation sheep tags are still a less than 1% odds of drawing and it’s also the reason he had the hunt filmed. The lightning struck where it struck and when Parker is older he will have something to look at and watch and maybe have a different outlook and context of what really happened that day. Like you said for many it never happens but for him it did and with this video when he’s an adult maybe he will gain the context you are implying he doesn’t have. Not sure a kid would get that rattled being that it was his 6th big game animal if he didn’t understand the magnitude at least to some degree.
Congratulations Parker and family. Perfect instruction for a young hunter, including enlisting help from above. Incredible outcome.
We agree!
Great video!! I’m in Texas and we have a small ranch and I plan on letting my 10 year old get his first hog this summer
That is awesome! Good luck! Send us some pictures!

Thank you for your service sir 🙏🏻. Congratulations
Splendid scenery and all, but the pompous music makes it hard to watch. The silence and sounds of nature is the best soundtrack for hunting videos.
God Bless. Nice deer. Well deserved.
Smells like wealthy nonresidents competing for tags meant for Alaskans to fill their freezers.
Get serious moose out number people 100 in Alaska. NO they are not all trophies but you said... "fill their freezers" Side bet even money.... you have never hunted Alaska a day in you life

Nice buck. What was the spread?
A touch over 31 inches
First if all, JW we cant thank you enough for your sacrifices for our country. Most of us will never understand your hardships. Can your give a rough idea of the score of that buck. The reason I ask is that I always seem to underestimate a Strip or Kaibab buck. I think their head size is what always throws me off! That buck is so beautiful! Congratulations!
The buck grossed a little over 201
Nice to see pine Martin. 😊
