    First off thank you for a well filmed and informative video. Clear, easy to see hear etc! is there a reason that you need to take off the hub? once you remove the 4 bolts holding it all in would it not come out together just the same? I imagine it would be heavier and more awkward to work with? Also I have watched your video as well as a couple of others. Some of the hub assemblies were stuck in there a lot harder. Would it not make sense to clean it extra good and perhaps apply some no seize where it goes in? Thank you, Cheers Ross

    • @south_coast
      @south_coast Před 3 dny

      As long as you can get the whole assembly into and out of your press, I think it would work. It would be hard to manage by yourself I would think. Let me know how it goes, I’m sure this won’t be my last time swapping u-joints.

    I saw your zerk fitting was on the axle side instead of the wheel side. Does that matter? Changing mine now and the zerk hits the yoke first if I rotate it all the way that direction. Dont want to snap the zerk off the first time I take a right turn.

    • @south_coast
      @south_coast Před 3 dny

    I don't think those gouges are from an uneven lawn. Never seen that before. In my experience all push mowers never like cutting on the lowest setting well. Get you a mulching blade and see how you like that vs. bagging.

    • @south_coast
      @south_coast Před 3 dny

      My yard machine did well on the lowest setting. I really think blade is flexing. It’s not as thick as the other blades I’ve used in the past on other mowers. I’ll start looking for other blade options. Thanks for the comment.

      I would take a look at the application instructions, but I think you could do a whole lawn application. The problem is that it will kill bug it gets to, which probably wouldn’t be a good thing for the health of the lawn.

      Anybody got any advice/thoughts on this? I Googled it and bad boy recommends 12psi front and rear. I did this hoping for a better ride. I literally could lower my deck to mow any of my 50 yards I mow at 3.5-4". What's the consensus? Decrease pressure then readjust deck to be at it's true heights?

  • @gatormeal
    @gatormeal Před 9 dny

    Cleaning under the deck isn't one of my most favorite tasks therefore I much prefer mowing in the afternoon or a couple hours before dark when moisture isn't as big of a concern.

    • @south_coast

  • @rubenharris9241
    @rubenharris9241 Před 10 dny

    In my view, it is MUCH better to cut in the evenings….just before sun down. The grass is typically dry, you are past the worst part of the heat of day, and the healing post-cutting can begin over night. Your mower deck tends to stay cleaner too. 👍

    • @south_coast

    I don’t have as nice as a machine as yours, but I have two old riders to mow my 5 acres. One is a 7 yr old snapper with about 205 hrs on its Briggs and a 25 yr old Murray 48 inch cut ( When Murray was actually Murray and was ranked number one in reliability in 1999 when I bought it. While it unfortunately does not have an hour meter, it’s on its second seat and tires, and the Snapper was added 7 yrs ago due to the fact the Murray was getting very very old and I wanted to lighten the work load for longevity. I do all my own maintenance and I recommend strongly to have a fuel cutoff on what ever you have and keep the fuel shut off between mowings . Hopefully one day I can afford a Bad Boy with that air ride seat and save my back. Great Vlog, thanks.

    Great video. I've owned a Bad Boy Maverick HD for about 1 1/2 years which I use to mow my nearly 5 acres. My experience pretty much matches yours. I've followed the maintenance schedule and have just under 100 hours on it. I just need to get better about scraping the deck more often but other wise nothing more than routine stuff. Terrific mower for the features, build quality and price.

    Will that not being set correctly will it cause my belt to jump off??

    • @south_coast
      @south_coast Před měsícem

      Throttle adjustment shouldn’t make the belt pop off…belt tension being too light or debris can cause it though.

    where did you get the tire gauge? what brand? Never mind, I found it. Intercomp The cheapest I found was $65. Boy, they really are proud of them, haha.

    • @south_coast
      @south_coast Před měsícem

      Yeah they aren’t cheap but I like it. It’s got a big enough range to use on my mower as well as my truck tires at 85 psi. It is well built. Intercomp is a trusted brand in the motor sports world.

      If it is mice you at least have a reason for the link. I hope you can get it figured out!

    Great video, exactly what I’m up against! Three questions for you did you need to work on a wheel bearings? And did you consider replacing the axle seals? If so, how do they get to get to? Thank you, Mike.

      @south_coast Před měsícem

      I thought about it, but from what I figured they would have to be swapped out from the inside, so I decided against it. No issues so far.

    Why didn't you put oil in filter before installing? The manual indicates to fill filter with oil before installing.

    • @south_coast
      @south_coast Před měsícem

      To be honest I didn’t read in the manual on how to do the oil change. It’s such a small volume, I wasn’t worried about it.

      This is the only deck I’ve ever tried to level. Doesn’t seem too difficult.

    Good job teaching yourself to sharpen. Holding the same angle for every pass, and being sure to grind fully to the apex are keys. Colouring the bevel with a marking pen can show if you have the right angle and it's sharpened to the apex completely. All the best.

    After watching your video, I worked on my own deck and found out that my linkage has slipped at the top instead of the bottom, which is attached to the deck. My dial showed 3 inches but I was cutting 2 inches adjusted the top linkage which brought the deck up back to 3 inchesthank you for your video. It helps solve my problem.
