We are about to burn up here in NE Texas. We seriously need a break in this heat. I don't know if my sweet peppers are going to make it or not and I thought pepper plants were heat tolerant. My cantaloupe plants are doing good. Thanks for the great ideas.

Sorry, but I must have missed your comment. Yes, persistent is the key word. Last year was my first gardening on this property and boy, l could tell you some horror stories 😮. This year so far has been much better. Hang in there 😀💪.

I get free coffee grounds from the local Fish and Chip shop, free spent mushroom compost from a nearby mushroom farm, free straw from the pet shop, free sticks for kindling in the alley behind my house, a neighbour gives me all her raked up leaves and we have a local plant swap where you leave a plant and take a plant.

I got tired of buying fertilizer because the prices are so high. I bought two rabbits, I feed them from the garden and they feed the garden. It is working out wonderfully and they are a lot lower in cost that the commercial fertilizer.

I get seeds at the dollar store. It’s not free but very cheap and I have had good results. Thank you for all your great hints🌻

Pallets are very versatile. I intend to collect more once l have a way to haul them.

I used my friends decking boards for multiple planters and limbs from my yard and my cousin's yard for bean poles and cucumber trellis. And I made tomato cages from contrite wire fencing that have lasted for 25 years and counting but this year my neighbor and sister gifted 14 cages witch helped so much. And bought and old time tiller for $50.00 and a set of 3 pickling crocks for $50.00. They will last along time.

I also use the sprouted potatoes too plant for potatoes that I get for free at aldi's into my potato towers from free pallet woods and about make a free hot bed with more free pallet wood and cold frames from free Windows and a drying rack from free 12x12 " baskets just had too buy 2x2"x8' boards.

That driveway is reflecting tons of heat on your plants as well. You shoukd try to find a spot as far from the concrete as you can.

My natural fertilizers is the egg water from boiled eggs and the water off of my boiled potatoes and invite garden comfrey is my fertilizer once a week ,add when starting my plants I always put crushed egg shell in the bottoms of the holes and coffee grounds if you have them and grass clipping when get them for around my plants because I get a lot if rain off others down spouts this way the plants don't flood out and I mound up the soul around them and put a round trench too hold water during the dry spells. I've started transplanting from one comfrey plant. Now too date I have 20 plants and plan on having around my fenced area too cut down on the grasses. Its so odd because the wild plants I wanted are seeded right next too them. Free leaves and grass clippings from my uncle's land I put the in the compost piles and all plant matters and paper shreds from junk mail.

I didn't know about UNCF. In my county in WV our library has free seeds from the WV Extension office along with garden calendars that suggest a garden/planting task each day. Thank u for the tips.

I tried to grow an oak tree from a seedling I found and for a few months it did really well then it just died. I don't know what happened. I love trees and it was quite sad when my lil oak died. I'm going to purchase a few of the grow bags and see if I can get potatoes to do well. Planted my seedlings straight in the ground last year and all the rain and flooding we got with the storms here in NE Texas my potatoes didn't make it. Well we just keep at it! Happy Gardening!

I have been subscribed for a short time now. I'm frugal everything! Your videos are always full of such good information and " how tos." Another reason I subscribed is you are so down to earth. YT is full of " fake." and big showy Homesteads. Nothing wrong with that I guess if that's how one strives to live. But nothing frugal about most of these " frugal" channels. Your voice is always calm and I just bet you are a really nice person. So thank you for sharing all your frugal gardening wisdom!

In uk a back yard is a small concrete area with a wall around it, it is accessed via the backdoor which is usually located in the kitchen. Night night God bless. UK meant to be getting some of that heat wave you have sometime next week...at this moment...its raining 😂again...had a couple of pleasant days. On 18th we had heavy hail and torrential rain that filled a small bucket in my garden to the top within minutes. My potatoes are still growing and my other veg planted have survived and coming on nicely. I didnt hear the birds in your garden...drink plenty of water and keep in the shade. I love reusing! I’m using old pet cages (unfortunately I thought they were fine for my furbabies but I later found out they were too small) as planters and Also my kids old water bottles when they’ve broken the spout/cap are being used on my window ledges. Everything can be reused many times before disposal

I found some white tarpaulins on Amazon, I was looking for them to go over my Guinea pigs’ hutches and runs but I bought extras to drape over my planting areas. I used hay over my gardens! The grass etc seeds aren’t a huge issue for us as we grow most of our plants for our 4 rescue guinea pigs and our hamster.

I hear this all the time. I tell them that will show them how to grow their own food. The time to learn is when you can go to the grocery store if you have a crop failure.
