I love when you said Abby regrets killing Joel. I think so too. It’s a theme of the game that affects Ellie as well. These people have nothing left but their quest for revenge and wanting retribution. They live for it because otherwise they have nothing to live for or so they think. When it’s “over” for both Abby and Ellie getting their revenge, they realize that it didn’t give them the closure they were both thinking they’d get.

Love these analyses. This is my favorite game and each time I play it I notice something new. And while I can speed through it I love slow story play throughs. I have even heard new lines in this video I hadn’t heard before. Guess I haven’t gone slow enough. 😂

You know, if abby killed Tommy as revenge for Joel killing her dad and joel goes out to kill her and her friends, I think the story would’ve been a lot more compelling and everyone would love that Joel’s still alive atleast at the 2hr mark 🤣

This game was very polarizing at the time but it will go down as a turning point in gaming. TLOU 2 will for sure be featured in countless listicles and editorial videos in the future. One generation’s controversy is the next generation’s fixation.

Love these vids! Maybe something on Dina? Maybe the shift in her being something of a mentor (with a thirst!) to her rejecting Ellie at the end when she cant get passed the need for vengeance. I'm a bit obsessed with Moustache Man and his little manifesto and how he definitely doesnt have plans to seize control of a local government office.

Watching this video I had a realisation of a different and interesting way for the second season of the show to start. Imagine we start with Abby’s backstory. Her as a teen, her dad, everything. The audience will still have that same sense us players did of “who the hell is this,”why should I care, leading up to her dad that we grow to love, being brutally murdered by Joel. As someone desperately wanting the next seasons of the show to follow closely to the way the game presented the story it’s the first time I’ve thought they could change up the order and it could still work. Imagine the viewer conflicted from the very first episode about the morality of Joel and his action, then thrusting us back into Ellie’s story for a while after. I’m SO curious how they’re going to pull it off and even more intrigued at the general audience reaction for those who only know these characters through the tv show.

Could you please do a commentary video on the museum flashback chapter with Joel and Ellie? The symbolism in this chapter is incredibly rich. Additionally, the tone shift when Ellie is in the building Joel hasn't inspected, along with the increasingly chilling clues she discovers while alone, is truly remarkable and haunting.

Spoilers The ending of the game where Ellie is unable to play the guitar due to her "lack of fingers" is one of the most thought provoking, moving and devastating scenes I've ever seen in a videogame. In so many ways Abby's and Joel's story is same...like they both use to have nightmares one lost his daughter other lost her father.. also what Ellie was to Joel is now what Lev is to Abby but the fun fact is there combat is also same the way they uses their fist...beating the sh*t out of the enemies.... and they both get flamethrower

I think that's why that hospital stalker is added in the theatre boss fight in no return where Ellie vs Abby happened

Some interesting facts: Ellie is reffered as the light throughout the game and show. Like in some instances we find her sitting and the sunlight pouring on her also some dialogues shows that she is reffered as the light you just have to read between lines. Her name meaning is also light. As the Fireflies says when you are lost in the darkness look for the light. So it refers to Ellie being the light. Like darkness is this infected world and Ellie is the cure and the only immune girl to look for also when Jesse gives them directions to go as Ellie Dina and him is about to leave to find Tommy and Joel he tells that I'll head west Dina can take south and you(Ellie) come from the east. So as the sunrises in the east it refers to as Ellie as she is the light and it can be a possibility that when Jesse says I'll head west it refers to sunset as sun sets in that direction and Jesse eventually died. Also Moose is refered to Joel in the birthday chapter Ellie sees a statue of some wolves killing a Moose and one wolf is seen biting the right leg of the Moose so it refers to Abby shooting the right leg of Joel and we know already that wlf are also known as wolves also you will see a Moose picture frame in Joel's house and when Dina and Ellie went patrol in the beginning they see a dead Moose and Dina asks how many will it take to take down a Moose to which Ellie replies more than one which is a reference to what happened with Joel as more than one were required to trap and kill him

These are the types of analyses that are so perfect they make the creator go, "mhmmm...yea...uhhhm..that's what I was goin for!" 👀

every time i play this game i notice something new. it never gets old. your videos help me pick up on things that i never considered! i especially love the part when tommy realizes joel cares for ellie, and everything comes together in his mind. i find that moment between ellie and joel so heartwarming.

I am watching this on the game as I type. Just got to the part where Jesse grabs Ellie from behind covering her mouth, and was surprised to hear them say people were upset by that scene. That some people were expecting Joel, I guess because of the jacket sleeves similarity? When I first played it I was expecting Tommy.

people who act like the game forces you to like Abby need to really pay attention to Mel’s story. I think the entire point is to shine a light on how Abby is still shitty and directly affects others around her like Mel. ND wasn’t afraid to keep letting you know that almost everyone in this world is imperfect.

Really reminding me why I love this game so much

Yeah when you really think about the characters as real and not just characters In a game you can feel what they all go through that's why I really like this game It's a sad game about revenge and how It leads to nothing good and only causes more pain and you can really feel for both main characters Abby lost her dad and Ellie technically lost her dad they both had the same motive making them both understandable If you're not biased

Tommy had the worst ending... Abby left with Lev to start a new life Dina left with JJ to live a safer life Ellie is left alone and slightly crippled Tommy lost his wife, his light, his family, and is severely crippled

I cried a couple of times watching this documentary. I have grown so attached to Joel and Ellie that whenever the people here were talking about Joel dying or showing him or Troy on screen etc, tears would just come. I hope part III will give us Ellie one final time to see that she's okay, even if the main character was somebody else in that game. I need her to be okay one day. 💔
