In 2015 I built a scamp sailboat from a kit. I took 3 years to build it, taking my time. I did this CZcams video to encourage people to finish their Boat and to get out sailing. I hope this to be the beginning the beginning of my cruising season.

I want one of these, but who can afford $22,000?
Agreed but what new boat with the features which Welsford created would sell less than this? If a person has the time and the skill, build one. Most people do not. You have to arrive a a point in life to afford one ( which is less than a used vehicle) or have the credit to go in debt. Or settle for something less versatile such as a McGregot Venture 17 for pennies or a siren 17. A Catalina 22? I hate settling for not-the-best but at least you are on the water.
👏 👏 👏 There is something powerful in building something like this that gives you a feeling that you can do anything. I can’t wait to have the time to do this. (And space. Apartment won’t work lol)

Beautiful boat! What a pleasure to watch her sail. You did fine work. I must say, I spent the first full minute grinning from ear to ear: I have a Peep Hen with Lazy jacks and Gaff and have the same struggle nearly every launch. If you find the secret, please let me know! Meanwhile, Enjoy!

Excellent, been scouring youtube for rucksack ideas, sick of buying one's that either don't last , or just make do with a one thats not quite right for what need and carry, so yeah make one, wondering if you when back and padded the shoulder straps....

What a flintlock MUSKET does. There are flintlock rifles as well. Don't try loading shot in them

Hello, what is the total exterior height of the tacoma with the camper? I'm just curious if it will fit my 7ft garage, thanks!
I haven't measured it but I can go through all drive through. It will change with lifts. I don't have a lift on my Tacoma.

For your viewers: Pack rifle has 100 receivers built and waiting for anodizing, problem being that their barrels are made by a third party and could still be 6 months or more to come in…I have been waiting two years. Unfortunately no hunting with a pistol in Canada so I have to be patient.

This rifle seems very similar to the old Garcia Bronco .22 take down. Shoots shorts/longs(remember them?)/long rifles.
How accurate have you found this gun to be? Ideally out to 50 yards
Easy accurate to 30 yards. Optic would help
@@survivingentropy my magic number is 1" @ 50 yards with an optic, though maybe for something so insanely light as this I'd consider 1.25" @ 40 yards (IE, squirrel head in a tree). Have you found it able to do that? Ive seen many reviews where a rifle is claimed accurate and they accept a 3" group. That may be fine on rabbit, but that would not be okay on squirrel, my main target.
I shot a red squirrel in the head at about 25 yds. I think it's real capable and built well. The trigger take time to get used to. It's long pull

It's definitely interesting but, I think I'll stick with my Springfiels M6 .22/.410. I've got a 2.5x scope on it, added some copper 1/2" tubing on each side of the over/under barrels so I could carry about 10 spare rounds of .410 shells, along with the 4 that are in the stock itself, and 10 rounds of .22 in there too. Take a look at the various .410 rounds you can get. When I was in Alaska, I picked up Flare round, flechette rounds, slugs, 3 ball buckshot.. Great setup, mine goes everywhere with me. I'd forget my Seacamp pistol in my pocket before I forget my M6. One more suggestion... When shooting at a squirrel, use a tree to steady your rifle/pistol so you can get a clean head shot. As for my pistol, I carry a Ruger MK1 .22 with a Paclite (Tactical Solutions) 10" barrel on top of it, along with a nice pistol scope on top of that. It's a serious squirrel getter as well.
I have a Tacoma as well. My install is scheduled for August. I’m really looking forward to the convenience of a GFC.

Really enjoyed your video, I think you would really enjoy a Kelly Kettle It works great for what you were cooking there. I believe this is my choice for my Tacoma, when I can pay for it.

I’ve always wondered, why the squared off bow?
It's good to confirm with John Welsford, but it's an easy way to get a shorter boat with a longer waterline. Better performance and a smaller package. So that's my thinking

Why this boat does not have a cuddy cabin is a mystery , it would make a great weekend sailer ? Great video, nice music choice .
John, the designer, thought it to tight for a cuddy. Thus dangerous in foul weather. But a tarp makes a good cover or sleep on shore. It is only 11'11"
John Welsford designed a similar boat called Tread Lightly, which does have a cabin.
I am unsure of his thinking while designing either boat. It would be a good question for John. I know the scamp is designed to be a safe and seaworthy small boat. I've had several conversations with Howard Rice. And that's where I may have hear about the scamp being too small for a cabin. Though I'm up for closing it in and doing an Atlantic crossing.

Great boat! Do you have an estimate of how many hours you took to make it?
I did not keep track of the hours. With the kit you save a ton of time by not having to cut 70 pieces of plywood. BTW the kit is extremely accurate

Well. It's ultralight. You pay for what's not there. But it is expensive. A small manufacturer, I had to wait a long time for mine.
