Poker size cards are shit. In my country poker size is a tiny bit smaller. I can barely palm it. And cant even do tripple one handed false cut. Let me tell u one thing. Maestro rene lavand is correct. Bridge size is more deceptive, easier to palm. Yet all these guys ego is too big.

Right on. A deck switch isn't a trick. It's a mechanical device to ring in a stack or ditch dirty cards. The bolder, more confident you do it the better it will fly. Worst case scenario some drunk guy catches it and says something, that's a great opportunity for a joke... "I think you're seeing double sir, we may have to cut you off" or whatever 😂 Just don't draw any attention to it and people don't know what they're seeing. If you wanna do a colour changing deck then use the gaff deck designed for it, don't waste such a powerful move trying to make it like a trick.

Never ask a spectator, "how many in my hand?" Never. You narrate a magical event that you cannot explain. It is THE #1 flaw in Hopping Halves and is an awful flaw in this presentation.

I saw Mac King twice in the last four months. Absolutely the same jokes and tricks with almost no variation. Two of the greatest shows I’ve seen in a long while. Great magician, great act.

I am aware that this video is a few years old now, but as we think 'magic is timeless'. This as well can be said for these awesome routines which are mindblowing skill. Thank you so much for showing this selection and granting a better understanding what this is all about, and how versitale this routine really is. I got interested in magic as an 'older' woman and just understood the very basic of cups and balls today and am really fascinated to get my skills to another level. : ) So thank you for all the names, books and videopresentation and talks. Pure gold for one who's willing to learn : )

John Mendoza was the only one I've ever seen to combine cups and balls with a chop cup. It brought a whole new element to this trick. Wonder why more haven't utilized that.

What a genius.

I love the finesse of lowering the deck slightly to get the break on the double rather than lifting up when squaring at the back end. Then that finesse is thrown out the window when you turn the deck over to remove the face up selection and that huge pinky break just flashes everyone. What a weird way to take a card off of the deck. This is so unnecessary. Have the card signed after that phase when the indifferent card is inserted and the selection genuinely is the top card...DUH.

My personal favorite magician of all time. Setting aside the incredible magic and the thinking that went behind it... and just taking all his side gags and one liners it's amazing how entertaining he was with just those alone. 19:35-20:45 was absolutely filled with it. He stops a card trick in the middle (superb creativity!), puts down a cigarette and a match (gag 1), cigarette lighter (gag 2), blows on match but it stays lit (gag 3) broom and dustpan (gag 4), all the while doing a separate mini side magic show. And this is just part of that video!!! Incredible, simply incredible. One of a kind. I know of no other magician that was this incredibly creative.

I really enjoy discussions of the philosophy and nuance of the performance. It is what transcends the mechanics into the performance.

Okay but who the heck is going to explain why as I was playing around with the deck I had just shuffled and was going to practise this on, my bottom card was a queen of hearts and my second from bottom was a joker? Seriously the moment Aaron goes and says "Let's say it's the queen of hearts" and I'm looking at the queen of hearts right there was spooky enough.

Chan Canasta was happy to take a risk. Things often went wrong... there was one particular book test that went wrong, and his "on-the-hoof" moves are masterful. One thing to realise is that Ted Moult was a farmer, known for being awkward. I would have bet on him changing his mind, and Canasta would certainly have known his personality back then.

Gaeton’s Visible Monte has stood me in good stead. I once blew away an entire room full of magicians who had NO INKLING how I was doing it.
