How to Eliminate Hyperflash on Any 1995-2011 Panther Car (NO Resistors!!)
Hello all!
I know for all my Crown Vic viewers this video is long overdue, but finally I have another new Panther-related video! This time we're talking about how I personally eliminated the hyperflash caused by converting to LED turn signal bulbs. This is one of at least 2 ways you can remedy the hyperflash, but I personally think this is the easier - and much cheaper - option. To my knowledge this fix will work on any 1995-2011 Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, Mercury Marauder, and Lincoln Town Car. As always, your comments and questions are welcome!
Best,
Eddie

Question so did cut the wires and connected to the relay? Is that it Or did you make intermediate connections
ok i got it so we not using the flasher on the LCM board that is why we remove the pins or cut the wire so we using our flasher for the LED. great idea!!😉
very good info so my 2008 town car it should be 2 light blue connected together ,and 2 white with red stripes connected together!! I like the clicking sound of the flasher it reminds me its on. Thanks a bunch!!!!!!!!!!!
I did the same mod just like you did. but instead of contorting under the dashboard, you could easily do it right behind the steering wheel where the turn signal switch is at. czcams.com/video/UjVAUXzYhZc/video.html&ab_channel=GOATGarage

Hi there! Is there a way to remove white out off the car without ruining the die-cast? I googled it and tried nail polish remover but sadly it also removed the decals from the car underneath. Is there a way I can remove the white out without damaging the cars paint scheme underneath?
I wonder if he still has this exact car 10 years later
Believe or not, I do!
@@KeystoneProdsPA didn’t think you’d reply to this man, this is one of the many videos that really got me into collected diecasts over the years. Thank you!
So just to clarify, the Crown Vic had 2 pairs of the wire colours, you snipped them both from the connector and tied the two light blue and two white with red stripes together and then connected them each to the flasher?
Yep that's it. Pre-05 models will just have one of each color wire, 05 and newer models will have a pair of each color wire
@@KeystoneProdsPA Thanks for the reply. Greatly appreciated. Ive seen other videos and even your comments below and people are saying their lights stop flashing after a bit or the dashboard indicators wont flash... have you experienced any issues?
@Anthony P you're welcome Anthony. Unfortunately I cannot say that I've experienced that. The only issue I've ever ran into was if I connected the wires to the wrong pin on the relay, they would either not turn on at all, or come on but stay solid. Swap the wires vice versa to the different pins and that solved it and everything worked as it should
@@KeystoneProdsPAthanks again for your response. I’m gonna try this out!
@@KeystoneProdsPAI am experiencing this problem, at first it worked great and now it just barely illuminates the light/ does not turn on… the new flasher just makes the light come on solid, I did not use the flasher that you recommended, I am planning on buying that, do you have any other recommendations?
Bye kyle m busch double mint winner
A STICK SHIFT VIC.... I "NEVER" seen that before.... Interesting
Where did you get that pinout diagram for the LCM? I want to reverse engineer the LCM to see what kind of tricks I can play with it and that diagram would help lots for my '03 Town Car.
Either on Google or the old crownvic(dot)net forums. I've had it saved for a while on my computer so I don't know for sure
Why not use an OEM type replacement flasher for LED's? Seems a bit simpler, perhaps no speed adjustment, but I don't know that yet.
To my knowledge, because the Panther turn signals are controlled through the LCM, you'd either need to wire in an external flasher (as shown in the video) or wire in resistors for each of the 6 turn signals
@@KeystoneProdsPA The OEM-only type suppliers of auto parts do sell a flasher relay for my year Panther. Perhaps I'm all wet and that won't be the thing. If so, I'll splice one in--no way I'm putting on six resistors for my six flashing lights. I'll be finding out for sure soon.
@@KeystoneProdsPA Yup, confirmed. I now have a two-pin relay on order. Gotta do surgery on the circuitry.
@@KeystoneProdsPA Hey, this is the best video on the subject. After looking at a few others, I needed to come back and say thanks. I have a 2-pin LED flasher in the mail. Loving the "switchback" LED's in my flashers now--just gotta calm them down a little bit.
@Wade Patton Thank you for the kind words, I'm happy to have helped out! I just bought a 3rd Panther a little over 2 months ago, and I did this mod in about 15 minutes (granted it's my third time doing it) but still, subjectively it's way less effort, and objectively it's way fewer components to properly run LEDs
Wait I want the 5-speed and that third pedal!
this is cemented in my child hood
Link the fuse you used👍🏼
All that work. Just put resistors on
Seems one can install an LED specific flasher relay in the OEM position. No splicing. I've not tried it yet. Still ordering bulbs.
To me, resistors would've been more work, splicing and adding resistors to each turn signal bulb instead of just 4 wires under the dash.
@@KeystoneProdsPA this is much much better than resistors!!!!!!!!!! 100% agree that guy is cluless
Where do I find the diagram
Okay I finally got it my turn signals work but my only problem is when I turn on all the lights exterior my rear turn signals do not work they just stay on but once I turn All the lights off and during the day they do work anybody know why?
0:18
Okay I'm a little bit confused I can't figure this out on the three connectors in the back where are the wires coming out of the big one or one of the two small ones? Also do I cut the wire in the middle and run it from the harness to the relay and back from the relay to the module?
de pin the connector
the wires going into the plug than plugged into the module you cut or de pin the wire from the connector 2 blue together 2 white with red together so it will uses your own led flasher not the one in the LCM you will have 2 wires so they will be connected to the led flasher to each of the legs on the flasher ...simple
I really want to do this to my 2008 can you please explain to me how many pin relay do I need
2
So do I get a flasher relay with only 2 prongs ? I've got 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis LS thanks in advance
That should be all you need. I showed which flasher I used I used in the video. Having an adjustable rate flasher is nice because you can fine-tune your blinker speed

The lights on my Crown Vic were made by a friend, as a way to get into the HID Retrofit world without spending a ton of money. Once I realized how incredible these are, I had Kevin from Panther Lights make a set for my Mercury.
Thank you brother! With your help, I have now been able to convert all of my bulbs to LED without hyperflash!
You're very welcome! I'm happy to hear it worked for you
I remember this
great job on the Vic 👍
??????? ?
I live in Eastern Panhandle in West Virginia
Right on Big Ed, What a great video. You have such a good narrating voice. Lol One thing, I wish you would have shown the left, or right turn signals individually instead of turning on the 4-way emergency flashers. The reason I say this is because I get comments from people who install LED turn signal bulbs, and engage the 4-ways to check if they work. It's not until they go for a drive and only use the left or right turn signal that they realize they have hyper flash. This is because the 4-way switch is an independent circuit from the turn signal circuit. -Chuck
Thanks Chuck! Fair critique - I didn't even think to show it, but I'd hope that it's obviously implied that it would work also for the individual turn signals. I can film a short clip later in the week and post it as a follow-up.

My crown vic 2008 has a cop chip reviews coming up
Very nice video, Eddie. Like you mentioned, the manual transmission is a game changer. The TC seat cushions is a great idea. You probably had to use the TC headrests too because I think they had different distances between headrest bars than your 2010 Vic. I swear by the TC center consoles, nice to see you have one too. Looking forward to your other videos, especially on the manual install.
Thanks for the comment! If memory serves correctly, the distance between the posts is the same, because there are two metal reinforcements on the seat frame where the headrests slot into. When I do my video on the cushion swap I'll take apart one of the seats so everyone can see. Perhaps on some model years the headrest posts are different, but the Town Car was a 2007 and my Vic is a 2010, so it worked out. Either way, I wasn't about to keep the Vic headrests - they were as worn out as the seat cushions lol.
@@KeystoneProdsPA thanks, Eddie. I didn’t realize that the 2010 headrests were still swappable with the earlier years. Ford changed them for 2011 (my Vic’s year). Before, I thought that change happened earlier.

@@KeystoneProdsPA ahh shit sorry about that sir. I think I actually heard you say in your video that you only bought the pedal riser. I'm actually surprised they sold you that buy itself. I think we are going to end up making it all ourselves.

How did you get the Taurus cop car rims on? I’ve heard the hub bores on those don’t fit on the Crown Vics
You're correct. The Taurus hub bore is about 1-2mm too small, if I recall correctly. My dad is a machinist, so he machined the wheels to the proper hub bore
@@KeystoneProdsPA that’s legit. I’d love to do that too. Looks fantastic. Any clearance issues with brakes or suspension?
@@wjye originally no, but when I replaced the brake pads and rotors I had to grind maybe a 1/16" off the calipers. Can't explain that one, other than the rotors I put on are a hair thinner than what I had? But otherwise no issues whatsoever. They are heavy, though. I run 245/55/18 tires on them.
