Hi am 14 year old boy can you please share any tips on how to become a better fullback I am fast amd good with high balls
Hi hope you are doing well. Thank you for the support and question. As a fullback it's very important to work well with both wingers. Work on your communication, positioning, and organizational skills. Be demanding and clear, that builds good confidence as the fullback is normally the last line of defense. What is your SUPERPOWER? If you say you are fast, make sure you utilize that.... One of the most important things to be really good at is tackling. Practice Tackling: 1) Front tackle 2) Side tackle 3) Double tackle 4) Tackle from behind (linebreak chase) Hope this helps. Keep up the good work and all the best.
Great practical video! Where is that accent from sounds like a South African/Kiwi mix.
Thanks for the support. It's Namibian
GOOD
My dream position is an inside centre but I am to fat can you give me tips to be one?
Rugby is a game for all. All shapes and sizes, keep working on your catch pass, decision making especially pre and post contact. Ask yourself what AM I good at? Or what is my superpower as a 12?

I'm playing 9 for the first time this afternoon. Definitely bricking it. This video has given me a lot of insight to the scrum. Hopefully I'll be able to use it.
Enjoy passing and no need to brick it. I hope you enjoy the game
Damnnn highly appreciated

Thanks for the help, I recently became an 8 and this will definitely improve my skills
Fantastic, I'm always happy to help. All the best.
@@DeLaSports I’m doing scrums today at training so this helps a lot, I appreciate u
Okay finish with a handshake. So what’s the starting position then?
Dominant hand behind the ball, fingers spread around the seam of the ball. You will find your elbows are more bent then when you have the ball on the hips. The ball should be under the hips. I will make a short for this now if you want to check it out when I upload

Thank you so much for this.. my son has been asked to challenge the defence as a 9 more and not been shown how.. this is brilliant… thank you
Thank you so much for watching. I really hope this video helps your son.
Really has helped already - he can’t wait to get running at defences now
awesome!

What size is a rugby ball
from 14 years upwards is a size 5. But may be different in other parts of the world. From 9 to 13 years is a size 4 and younger than 9 is a size 3
Could you expand on this advice for coaches, in another video. Thank you.
Thanks for your message. I will look to make a longer video. Hopefully tomorrow
Excellent video. Critical skill for a 9, especially for your off-hand
Thanks very much!
Ive recently started playing scrum half and i really struggle with box kicks, do you think you can help?
Hope you are well. Great to hear you play 9. Not sure if you watched my video on How to Box Kick. I shared a bit of information on that video, hopefully that can help. If you still need help please don't hesitate to send us a message. Happy to help. Kind regards Ryan
Thanks for the advice! Helped a ton and my box kicks are a lot more consistent every time i practess, all the best.
That is great to know! Thanks for your message
It is easy
The more you do it the easier it gets
Great video! I just had my first game back this weekend after not playing for 15 years. Good concise instructions from you for me to work on in training.
Fantastic stuff, I hope all is well and that you enjoy being back. I'm really happy to help and that you find the information useful. Thanks for watching and the support. Keep having fun and keep up the good work. Ryan

Hi Ryan, love the videos. One question on this one. Do you change your hand position on the ball. Also how do you get the nice spiral. Thanks Kevin, Ireland
Hi Kevin thanks for your message. The dominant hand must Be behind and underneath the ball. Make sure the ball is resting in the palm of your hand with your fingertips as this gives good grip to get the nice Spiral. As you push ot punch the ball away spread your fingers wide around the ball and punch towards the target not swinging. Finish Inline with the target. Have u seen my short video on the handshake? Both hands is behind the ball. I didn't change hand position. I hope that helps
I’ve recently started playing rugby, we’ll say recently about 3 months now & been assigned as Outside Centre, what are your tips?
I have included most of the tips in this video. But running straight is key. You need to constantly improve your intelligent running lines to he manipulative towards the defence and very deceptive. That will make u unpredictable and extremely difficult to play against. Learn how to delay your run. And run from depth to be able to run straight. Ur first 2 metres should be straight.
Thanks for the info
Any time!
Never played rugby in my life..playing first time tomorrow...36 years old.....any advice😂😂😂😂
Wow, I don't know what position you'll be playing. If it were me I'd try to look for work, get my hands on the ball... Focus on catch/pass. Try to ease into the contact if possible. Most important try to enjoy being on the field especially still playing at such a good age 36. Well done and all the best. Enjoy
Hi coach, I am a 14 year old centre who is willing to do whatever it takes to become a professional. I have already developed a pretty good physique for my age and am pretty fast. I watch all your vids and think you are the best rugby youtuber. I have been utilised all over the field playing flanker, winger and have also been utilised as prop. Any tips or advice for me to take my game to the next level as a centre and an all around player?
Thank you very much for your message and support and for watching all my videos! That is great news what you are doing at your age. You are at the right stage to explore different positions and methods. At your age the stage is called train to train. Meaning building good habits and consistency. Work on your peripheral vision for the next 4 years. For example you can take a golf ball or small rubber ball and play against the wall hand tennis. Gentle left and right hand hitting the ball in a safe place where u have space for 18 mins a day. 1 year of this is 100 hours and it will put you ahead of 95% of players that don't do it. This activity helps your hand and eye coordination and decision making skills. If you are not already trying different sports for example basketball to help with off loading and agility. Swimming and even wrestling. This will help with contact skills. Swimming works all the muscles and helps with endurance. These are just a few examples. Keep up the good work and all the best
@@DeLaSports Thank you so much for your words of wisdom, I will definitely do these things!
Hey man! Love your channel! Can you show your what you eat in a day? I would like to become a good 9, but I’m 65kg . I think I’m too small and I would like to become a little bit thicker for playing at higher levels
Sorry for the late reply. I'm not a qualified nutritionist but when I was younger and wanted to build more muscle I focused on getting stronger in the gym. I worked with a specialist in South Africa. I didn't take supplements and focused on real nutritient dense food. For example I would have rolled oats in the morning after training with berries. By lunch time we would have egg white omlette and veggies non starchy like cucumber peppers onions. We sometimes had a big thick slice of sourdough bread. Snacks would be nuts but not loads. Almonds Brazil hazelnuts. Dinner would be spaghetti bolognese or chicken with loads of steeamed veg like cauliflower and broccoli. we would stay away from sauce with sugar in, no desserts and no drinking soda or alcohol. If we ate anything sweet it would be like a homemade scone. If you are able to I would get in touch with a sports nutritionist. In off season I trained twice a day my food was then adapted. I would suggest developing good habits and it will help for playing at a higher level. I hope that helps
@@DeLaSports and what was your height and weight when you were playing? (im 167cm x 65kg right now, and i dont know if i could be able to step up my game because of my size)
I appreciate this a lot 👊
My pleasure
always struggle to letting myself go, without fear. Gonna do my best to be fearless
You have to be in those situations to get better. With time confidence grows and you get more streetwise. Keep applying yourself and im sure you will feel more fearless

Awesome!!! My 12 year old son is playing outside centre now and he not completely comfortable with the position yet. Trying to get him feeling like he belongs in the position. This really helps. Thanks.
That is great news! Thanks for your message. All the best to your son playing this position. If i may say if your son is able to not be afraid to Express himself when playing this position and to enjoy it. Especially with an outside centre to remember to attack the inside shoulder, it will help him to run straight and hopefully cut through the defensive line like a hot knife through butter.
Coach why you sound like you from SA
Im from Namibian and was born in Walvis Bay which was part of South Africa. I also played rugby in South Africa for many years
Hi, I used to play long ago, especially centre, and watching your video I just remembered all you said, even about how to pass and protect yourself...and all those movements are kind of natural even now after years that I stopped playing.....One question...what's the main difference between 12 and 13? When I played I didn't notice lots of basic differences...even though I prefered to play 12...and I think that 13 can suffer a bit more in defense if the 10 and 12 don't do their job well...thanks
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your message. Great question. My brother is an ex international 12 that also player 13. I'm going to shortly make a video hopefully with him discussing this. I will put a link once filmed and uploaded
@@DeLaSports thanks. Great
Thank you da la sports is there any advice on how a 9 can mass from a messy ruck with body’s over the ball Thank you
Thank you for taking time out to message. I will look make a video about this at some point. Kind regards Thanks
Wow well done!!!! he cleverly circumvented the system by thinking outside the box to accomplish the assigned task a coach/DAD dream.
Thanks Theo!

@@DeLaSports I'm using your rugby knowledge to train my kid as they transition into scrum half from 8 and 12. I'm using your rugby story to inspire them as they begin their journey into the world of high performance. I would set your channel mandatory homework for the entire U18 team if I could!

I am playing center in my local club but I come across here an d I learn some very good drills here brother thank you very much i am getting a secret idea here thanks 👍🏉🙏
Happy to help. This is awesome to hear!!!!
Can’t wait to try this
Please let me know how it goes!
What about reading interseption
When your team is defending and you have fantastic line speed, that is when you can read the play and if you are two passes away, it is always best to line up on the inside of the player you are marking. Try to close down the space then if you do try to intercept and you miss it then you can still get to the player. I hope that makes sense
what can I do as a scrum half when I am under pressure
@ghetto_pabi I hope you are well. When under pressure as a scrumhalf, make sure to concentrate running the show and not trying to be the show, hope that makes sense. Direct play and you as a scrumhalf dictate the pace of the game on how fast or slow you guys want to play. Cheers
