I have the remote job sorted, great monthly wage in the several thousands, even went to Chiang Mai for a few weeks last year (Maya’s food court is incredible!)…but the bureaucracy surrounding the Visa process is so bloated. Just about the only thing stopping me from finalising a move. Seems like less of a hassle just to bite the bullet and purchase the Elite Visa?

Dude i am from the south east aswell and you are spot on. Me and my partner have some decent savings, and we are considering leaving. Not only would we be payed more in other countries for our professions but we also agree with you about the people in britan in general. You said it exactly how it is, the system is AGAINST you, ive been in the UK for 11 years and not seen anything like it, authorities are not here to help citizens but to screw you as much as possible, totally by design. From the police, to the local council to then the government, its all the same. As a disclaimer, im a law abiding citizen with a clean driving license and no criminal record and no debt. This country will make you miserable.

I got out and moved to Thailand 15 years ago. The UK has since become so expensive I couldn't afford to move back and live comfortably like I do here.

Even if people don't talk to you, I just feel there's a needy energy all around, like people want something from you, which I hate. I don't have that vibe with asian people, I was living in Bali, and it was the dream as well. But now we have too many people there too, so it's not a great place anymore. What cities do you recommend in Thailand?

My Brit pal points out how so many old US retired guys report that they're retired from military; Green Beret, Special Forces, etc. by the way, I was in Chiang Mai and I'm curious about how the bars work on Loi Kroh Road. I wasn't 'looking' for girls--hell, I'd hang there late afternoons and my wife would join me around 6pm. I had a friendly enough way with the bargirls but I didn't get the impression that they were 'available' for outside-the-bar fun...like 'My Place' for instance. Nice folks there--but not sure how that all works.

Well, you need a proffession needed abroad to live in any tropical country. And real work is tough in a poor tropical country. If you can sit on your flat a** and make videos. Good for you but some people have to produce stuff. Help people! Do something constructive! Dont just be a parasitite on this planet.

To be honest mate, things collapse as fast as they are put up in China. I agree with everything you said about the uk.. but one thing it does have is safe infrastructure. Regulations are in place to keep foundation solid for decades. Chinese dreg bridges, roads and buildings collapse everyday because of cowboy standards and corruption. Trains derail, tunnels flood, massive explosions, China is a dystopian country and people die because of it. So other than that, yeah the uk is miserable. Not quite as dystopian as China though

I could not agree more , the people , I was stuck here for 20 months during the lockdown years . The majority of the people were only too happy to point the finger and shout you down if you weren’t wearing your muzzle or had an apposing view to the jabs and the lockdowns , absolute assholes. As well as Thailand I also spend a lot of time in Mexico and Central America where my GF is , loverly loverly people and so much more liveable than the UK

Very funny video, and a lot of truth. I assumed you were going to talk about Thai people not being your friends. You know, yes they are nice, but you are not one of them, etc. That interested me. I've only travelled for 1-3 months at a time in Thailand or Bali mostly, and my experience in both places is that I tend to prefer the locals. Those relationships however, are very surfacy for the most part. Staff at the breakfast place or a restaurant I begin to regular. I've made what I consider to be a couple of friends in Bali (locals), meaning people I've stayed in touch with even while at home, but that has not been the case in Thailand. I'd love to hear your take on how your relationships with the local thai's have developed over time, if at all. The one thing that I find easy to spot that is an immediate red flag for me are the people (foreigners) who clearly don't have the means to survive. These are very inexpensive places, relatively speaking. If someone from the States or Europe is struggling here, you must really be on the balls of your ass. As you say, you can see that they are in that survival mode you spoke of, looking to see what they can get from you. Hard pass.

Survival mode is the correct way of putting it and that's how it is in Colombia as well...I have trust issues with them for many good reasons...

Hey Brett...I've been watching you for some time now, and this is one of the best videos I've seen on YT. Sage insights that are very applicable to where I am now. Benefitted from 2 digital health exits nicely, but it was too early for me to retire. Started an online healthcare consultancy...but have found my own version of "analysis by paralysis".
