I’m trying to follow along with the tutorial but my arch-hive page does not look like yours, is this feature only available with arch-hive plus? I’m a student who has been trying to follow along with both this video and your original arch-hive tutorial from 2021 but again I do not see the features you use to customize, add image descriptions etc. Maybe I’m doing something wrong.

The portfolio is closer to academic work (which includes concepts & imaginary projects), what if you have more work experience and you have done more professional work in existing projects, in other words you were part of a project team, having duties in the studio delivering detail packages and on site project managing site works 2. nowadays everything is viewed on screens, P-folios are rarely printed in hardcopies, the question is what is the ultimate digital page size (if you have 20 pages to fit them within the 5-7mb file requested by almost all studios)

In Vancouver (go figure), there's a handful of small architectural firms whose quality of work is substandard... that's the nicest way I can put it. The owners pocket around $1 million per year (while barely doing a thing and show no evidence of even achieving a mediocre level of proficiency in the field). The employees of course are underpaid and overworked. The ratio of "good" firms to bad ones in Architecture (and almost anything 'AEC' related) is extremely unbalanced. Shitty firms underbid on work to keep competitors out, effectively creating an uncompetitive marketplace for architectural services. The cure for this lies in the hands of both owners and young architects and other AEC professionals. Most owners don't quite understand how much bad architectural services cost them in the long run. A concrete building for example: A bad architectural design can easily increase the cost of structural materials by 10%. Bad Architectural and structural design? More like 20%! Smart owners are beginning to realize this. Capitalism in fact quite possibly could have already balanced things out if not for so much protection from the government. Too many young architects just accept the status quo. Older architects are obviously not providing adequate training. Many older architects in fact seem to have not the slightest clue about anything architectural. This situation has very much been enabled. There's very much a lack of opportunity for young professionals trying to build their own firms. Young architects should organize and do something about it. It won't be easy because those that chose not to conduct themselves as professionals stand to take a hit and will obviously oppose any change. Not to say that there aren't architectural firms in Vancouver that do amazing work. But they only get so much work as they are undercut by the shittier firms.

This assignment should be done in 1 week because if you don’t you are a mediocre according to the firms standards Your salary is 14 X hour = $2,240 a month, your weakly salary = $560. You did all the work for an asbuilt of 5K. Let’s divide $5,000 and your weekly salary $560 ( $5,000\$560= 8.93 . This means that the owner of the firm spend 1 to receive 7.93 of profit. The best traders, they gamble 1 to receive 3, trader are willing to lose 1 to receive 3 in profits. Then owners of the firms will tell you “I pay the insurance, taxes and other things” . Best answer “if you give me a 30% of every project I work in, this means I will pay you a 30% of the insurance of “my project” and 30% of other things and taxes. This is 100% fair. This means a asbuilt of 5K you should be paid the 30% = 1,500 of the 5K asbuilt, is not bad to get $1,500 in one week. Same here in China. These people are crazy! I used to have only 4 hours sleep a day for a month. For Now I just quit being architect but I still love the subject.
