We cannot help ourselves with a shadow daddy character, I blame the authors. I had little to no choice, I don't have any Phoenix books otherwise, it's not like I read smut much anyway...kidding aside I love that we both twisted prompts for some romance books. This is one of the many reasons I jive so well with you I'm honestly shocked my library even has some of the books I've seen for a conservative city, I hope it stays that way and people don't ruin it. But I know the US is bad for the censorship of books especially lately which is SO upsetting and frustrating, but I love that for everyone that it's changing, ESPECIALLY the people who don't like it because hopefully it helps their children learn and open their minds to the topics <3 You made me burst out laughing. Honestly, it ALWAYS comes back to Holly Black with you and me! Okay fine it is weird but it makes sense for fae, I'd take the tail over the hooves. Now you gotta pick either tail or hooves because I like to torture you with Holly Black and this seems a perfect way to do it. Yes!!! And I'm not reading the buddy read book, I didn't have time to get it from the library (there was already a hold on it) but it was on my want to read list prior so I'll get to it...eventually. Also youtube, RUDE! Let us write our essays in peace

@@KerryWhitbread Maybe Next Time is so tame too, I feel like you would DESPISE a lot of the male characters in dark romance. Most people who read the genre look past the red flags but I totally agree how hard that is sometimes because the men can be so toxic! I wouldn’t mind dark themes with good male characters but I don’t think that exists often in the genre

I follow a creator online who recommends a lot of these types of books. I love her content but I think I should look closer at the books she recommends... perhaps I should stop noting them down :P

@@Seles_t I agree with you on that. I’m going to try the books but I also don’t know if I can separate it from reality because the dark themes are based on real events, so it feels uncomfortable to romanticize that. Other people may disagree but I totally get what you mean personally.

I think I had Birthday Girl on my list too but I'm hesitant to try it to say the least. If you EVER read it, I wanna know what you think. And totally agreed. Damon isn't the main character of this though but he definitely hindered my experience with it overall. Not a fan

I read it until 50ish% and I wouldn't recommend it honestly. I dnf'd it.
