Appaloosa is a good film though I do agree with the criticisms of its pacing and lead actress. I have no idea of how many thousands of western films Hollywood has produced over the years…. but the movie that Appaloosa reminds me of… is Warlock (1959). Appaloosa is a much better title than Warlock starring Richard Widmark. Henry Fonda plays Harris’ role and Anthony Quinn takes Morrtensen’s and this relationship is the heart of the film. While Fonda thinks of making a family and a home, Quinn is having none of it. Quinn steals every scene except those already stolen by DeForrest Kelly. Widmark is a man of conscience in waaaaaaay over his head.

I feel like westerns are one of the hardest genres to have success nowadays, but there is a specific western loving audience that really loves and appreciates them

I love Young Guns 1 and 2. And reading up on the actual history of te Lincoln County war and the Santa Fe Ring. Billy the Kid wasn't really a bad guy. He walked into a war of corruption and he didn't put up with any.

Love this show. Makes you think…..of all the “phenomena “, or unidentified objects seen. Obviously, we might never know, but it does make you think. Definitely time for a good dose of 🍄😂

Honestly, I’m excited about all of them (minus the Yellowstone shows, never got into them). The Mortenson one is the one I’ve been aware of the longest, but Costner’s huge project has me sooo eager to see it!

I did it backwards, I saw YG 2 first and loved it, (Such an understatement) so much I had to see the first YG. I got hooked on John Bon Jovi as well, I can listen to the soundtrack for days.

Love the movie, but Renee Zellweger was totally miscast. I thought she was awful.

A little trivia. Harris’ character ‘Virgil Cole’ was Willam Dafoe’s character in ‘Flight of the Intruder’. Yes, the pacing was a bit slow, but, in it’s own right, makes the movie a bit more realistic. Not every situation moves at breakneck pace, like, for example ‘John Wick’.

Just a minor point. The title said that Hitch only used a shot gun, he did use his revolver at the end.

Great western and film independently of its genre

"Hey Chavez, why ain't they killin' us?". "Because they can't see us asshole, we're in the spirit world". "I'll make you famous.". "Ya guys! Ya guys! Ya see the size of that chicken?". Classic!!!

Most of those engagements take place within shotgun range. If you need a pistol for a single pinpoint target, you pull it, when you have multiple bad guys, you now have in that shotgun, an authoritative reason for them to mind their own business. At 40 yards, several of them are getting hurt, at close range one of them is getting mangled. An 8 gauge is a cannon with canister shot. It is decisive, and king of the battlefield within its range. A man staring down those barrels has a lot on his mind.

The only thing wrong with Appaloosa is the lack of a sequel.

Throughly enjoyed the film. Two actors that are believable in the roles they played. A good friend willing to handle business that needed to be handled. Like Costner in Open Ranger.

For me it is one of my best three western movies ever, but I don't need a sequel. The film is outstanding and a part to will ruin this. Sequelling is a plague of the film industrie.

Yes i could never get enough of Ed and Viggo. It's a great western that doesn't get enough credit.

Anyone who likes to be entertained, be it mindlessly, emotionally, or otherwise, should definitely not care what critics think. Don't let other people tell you what you should like or dislike.
