My name is Aurelian Ionus. I am 46 years old computer engineer from Sibiu, Romania. I've always been afraid of programming, so I chose something else instead, for many years I worked in the field of graphic design, identity, web, and 3D. It wasn't until I was 36 that I had my first attempts at Processing and I started to like the idea of creating with algorithms but still the 'line of code' didn't seem at all visual to me. Everything changed when I first discovered Touchdesigner five years ago. I became addicted in a short time and I set a goal to become good at it, to ease my effort to find a job in this field. At the same time, the idea of doing tutorials and sharing something with the community from which I learned a ton, came up. So here I am, spending a lot of time on this, researching new ways of visual programming.
SDF collision particles in Touchdesigner
In this one we build an SDF out of a JFA from the previous tutorial and along with reflect component we solve collision with whatever 2D shape/contour. I really hope you like this.

In this, we build a Jump Flood algorithm using cones and a particle system that runs around the shape. There are plenty of glsl tools for this particular algorithm that are significantly faster, but I'm glad I found this approch. here's my 'clumsy' method of doing falling snow with just a couple of operators. This method was inspired by @shrekly9 and @_ignatiuslow_ and I call it 'clumsy' because it might look discouragingly wrong ...but it's juicy enough. I hope you like this method. I love this work so much, where can I find the relevant tutorial?
@paketa12
that's awesome! Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
hi. thank you for brilliant tutorial . how can i make component uv1?
Jump flood geometric intuition, amazing teacher as always Aurelian!
AMAZING!!
thank you massive
Amazing thank you ! Tried similar stuff many times and never succeded ^^
thank you so much. I'm so glad you like it.

you are a demigod of visual <3

Where can we get Scatter Points component??
I'll have it ...for sure is in some other tutorial but I'll have all my components for download very soon
can you upload RG Vector component somewhere?
RG vectors - as I initially name it is nothing but single channel (black and white) texture converted into radial one that have rg vectors. Again, this one and all my other components I'll have them for download soon. Thank you massive
It is really goood for me!!!! . I looking for this video tutorial!! thank u ALWAYS!!
great tutorial, bravo. I would like to subscribe to your petreon but I have the TD 2021 version and I don't know if the files are compatible. Thanks and good job
thank you so much. Indeed some of my files are old and might not function well in newer versions. If you request an update for any of my file ...I'll do it if you need it. It's impossible to me to keep everything up to date. There are hundreds of .toe files.
when you notice the error at 33:55 it can be fixed by going into the fit within the stroke component and toggling fill!
I saw that right after the record session... yes, the fit was causing those strange edges. Thank you massive
Bruh this tutorial is too big brain for me 🤯
I hope is not a problem ...the brain has to go bigger :) Thank you massive
It's all good 🙏🏾 I've been binging through your tuts and it's all starting to make more sense

hello love the video! just want to ask if there is a way to connect it to media pipe and basically replace the mouse movements by hand movements? Thank you^^
I believe it can take also some shapes (like Kinect contour ...for the hand). It will be a bit more complicated as your shape (the 'hand') is not a math function and there for you need to compute some extra things. Thank you massive, I'm delighted you like it
Vielen Dank, ich freue mich sehr, dass dir mein Tutorial gefällt (I used google translate :))

Thank you for this!! This was really cool and fun to do!

wow I can't even imagine how you came to figure this all out. Great tutorial.
thank you massive. I'm delighted you like it
amazing tutorial thanks for sharing!
you are crazy, really see this as pure math, i really hope i can be like you, and wanting to know how the logic work befind it. i analysis out from your all tutorial is crazy structure and concept behind on it. hope you can teach more on general mindset of how to see td as math or some concept how you create thing before you start, or where u learn all these.
thank you very much for the nice words. Maybe this side with "how is that possible?" ... rudimentary arithmetic and how you can build calculations using just texture, need a more details tutorials. Those things I really want to cover them. It will be my first beginner course which I hope to launch later this year.
@@paketa12 oh yes please ; building calculations with textures is what i wanna do
thank you
un concept extraordinar, felicitări!
iti multumesc din suflet, sunt flatat ca ti-a placut.
Awesome as always! I discovered you some time ago but I just wasn't ready for this level of TD yet. Just wanted to ask you, then I add the math to the edge like you do at 12:59 and choose "ceiling" it becomes totally white and of course doesn't look as cool as yours. What could I be doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
Complex tutorial! you just have to be attentive... thank you very much paketa12 <3
Great stuff!
I enjoyed the video.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you massive
May I ask if circle.tox can be shared? thanks😁
Love this! Did you have any issues exporting the image? Everytime I save it, it is coming up as just a white image :/ Thank you!
Happy Birthday Aurelian! Thanks for always creating and sharing such amazing art!
❤... next step TETRIS ??? you could set rules based on shapes 🙂
hi! relatively new with touchdesigner and super love your tutorials. around 26:11 for the second multiply, the top operator is just all black for me. ;(
Just wanted to say I'm a huge fan and love how creative you are. I use other procedural/generative node and code-based environments at the moment and have hoped for months that watching your videos will somehow magically allow me to learn Touchdesigner!
after watching this i feel like learning more image theory, does anybody know a good source?
Thanks for a great video!
Man I appreciate your affort so much, this tutorial blew my mind

Sorry but theres a chance to export it on loop? Thank you
hi, i followed your tutorial twice, step by step, but for some reason, at some point during the process, my particles fly all over, losing the shape and visual of the photo
yep same for me... I noticed this when making the particles smaller and making more of them... how to fix this? either way this is an amazing tutorial...
Thank you so much for such a wonderful tutorial ! wanted to understand more about 2d techniques
Thank you so much. I'm delighted you like it.
