I have a bunch of playbills from the first few years it was on Broadway - let me see… I know the OBC (aka: the people you hear on the official Broadway cast album) version was the *broadway* *debut* for *Michael* *Cerveris* , *Sherrie* *Renee* *Scott* & *Norm* *Lewis* - all 3 are still in high demand on Broadway as well as in tv and film… Most people are part of the OBC tend not to stick around for the full run; especially because 90% of the time, the same cast to open on Broadway is generally the *last* cast in the tour-version. *Question* : Who’s Rob Evans? *Answer* for all you new to the lives of Jeckies 😅😍🖤 - here’s the quick of it: Well… from what I remember, *Rob Evans* was initially the “lead” understudy for the show’s titular characters “Jekyll/Hyde” (which was initially he played by *Robert Cuccioli* / aka: the guy you hear on the *original Broadway cast album/recording* 😉) As time went on, Cuccioli left & in between finding their next *big name* to use for *stunt* *casting* 🙄. I believe Rob Evans took on the role for those “in-between-lead-actor”-transitions. I believe he was the lead swing (on and off) from the beginning to the end of the show.

I actually have a few versions that I still need to get transferred from tape- that’s why I only uploaded a few bootlegs of my favorites of the (seemingly countless) “under dog” shows that (*IMHO*) contributed immensely or paved the way for what we see today on Broadway (which is tied directly to what the paying audience finds permisible 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🙄)

I have every version - I personally attended 7 different showings - not including the opening and closing - and this was an *unusually* commercial-heavy project; meaning there was a whole new photo shoot and film reel done for every single actor to take on the title role from Cuccioli through to Hasslehoff - and yet this Robert C is ringing no bells 🔔..🙈🤷🏻‍♀️ Was he a swing?

Now, what I *am* saying is that there was a video distribution company that bought the rights to sell & distribute “Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical” on DVD (which would be the *disaster* of a DVD that they sell with David Hasselhoff; tragically playing the titular role) Think of it as the dress rehearsal for the DVD shot and sold commercially for retail purposes. This was simply the *test* “pro shot” for the *actual* DVD filming.. ie: the test-shot was filmed during the *matinee* performance, screened by the distributor’s team so that last minute changes could be made (Like mapping out exactly how many cameras were needed and precisely where the cameramen needed to be etc… ) and the final production was shot the same night; following this test shoot - during the evening performance… Do you get it..? Does that make sense to you..?

This is a business… some”one” makes the commercials for these shows 😝 those same people also decide what to present during the annual Tony awards, and the thanksgiving day parade etc etc etc- it’s not the kind of thing most (normal 🙈🤷🏻‍♀️🙈) people even consider lol- but I was born into this world; and so it’s always been my normal 🤷🏻‍♀️ you do realize that’s why we have b-roll footage reels right? Well, those same people are responsible for deciding (for example) what number would best sell tickets and what daytime tv shows they should appear on to maximize exposure. Only after the show has closed can I legally share footage like I do. And even then it’s not always an option due to how many copyright holders are involved. Like I said, it’s a whole industry that nobody really even thinks about lol 😆

This is the original cast - I have a bunch of playbills (3 in color from 93, 1 black & white from 95) & other promo material from the original cast/show as we’ve been working on the current campaign - for reference’s sake. So, being I’ve luckily got them on hand; I can just take a look at the *Who’s* *Who* in the cast section for the understudies - if you’d like 🖤 Btw - the *official* b-roll footage was finally filmed yesterday. It’s crazy; production was on the fence about shooting *ANY* b-roll 🙄😳 it’s been like, *10* *months* of zoom-video-debates (super-polite; super-SUPER PC 😂) revolving almost entirely around the merits of filming b-roll 😳 Aaaanyway - the way “alternates” function… I believe that you are referring to the understudy for Michael Cerveris, yes? If so, I don’t remember off the top of my head (I was like, 8 when I first saw it in previews lol) but I am happy to check in the playbills I remember meeting the 7 or 8 kids who *all* simultaneously played the younger “Tommy’s” 😂. I remember being 🤯 that they were nearly *all* *girls* 😝 I think only *2* were actually boys 🤯

I have zero clue lol I only deal in Broadway - and it originated on Broadway in 1993 The original film has zero to do with the Broadway musical (besides Pete Townsend’s participation as composer; one version being obviously more orchestral)

The film came out in 1975 with Daltrey as Tommy, Tina as the Acid Queen, and Ann-Margaret as Mrs. Walker, who got an Oscar nomination for it.

JGH is KILLING it career wise - it’s bananas for real bc i remember him as this super nervous kid lol it’s just🤯 15 or so years back, he didn’t feel like he was “ready” or right for Broadway because, at the time, this was his first time really even experimenting with acting- he was in a band and was super passionate about it (this is during the year transitioning the show to Broadway into crafting the Tony awards performance - OMG that reminds me - funny true story about the year spring awakening was eligible and won 8 Tony awards as well as performed a special musical montage… JGJ felt like he didn’t belong & was so nervous during the Tony awards performance that he made some really funny faces at mistakes only he would really notice lol. he was so upset about it lol - he didn’t pay attention to his breathing - so there are 2 points in the first verse he sings; he accidentally takes these massive GASPS of air RIGHT Into the hand mic 🎤🙈 everyone kept telling him that NOBODY NOTICED - but he didn’t care… I mean it was a nerve wracking experience- and he, unaware of where precisely the cameras had been positioned, rolls his eyes like, at himself, and it’s all caught on camera 🙈. He was so sweet and just…normal 🤷🏻‍♀️)
