Goal. I have one training in the ground now. 3-4 more years in ground and then to a pot for training for another 5. Takes a while but wow.

Beautiful specimen. In bonsai we always talk about wanting short internodes and small leaves. In the sea of lookalikes, I love to see a few trees with larger leaves! And of course we can’t beat that fissured bark!! 👏🏽 🪴 🍁 How long have you had this Arakawa? 👀 🤔

Your garden is looking fabulous as always! I find both Arakawa and Nishigawa both testing to keep their foliage tight, the internodes love to run long, both lovely cultivars :-) thank you for sharing :-)

That is one AMAZING Japanese maple clump!! I have a maple clump that I have been working on for a few years now and watching this is inspiring! I don’t expect my clump to end up as amazing as yours…….. but I have hopes! I had Andrew Robson of Rakuyo Bonsai look at it and give his opinion on it, I have also had Tony Fajarillo of PBSA look at it too!! It’s still many years away from being anything……. but both Andrew and Tony think it has a lot of potential.

Hi my friend great exhibition , i saw also the show last year nice pines cedars and all trees but a tree impressed especially because had not seen ever is the Korean Lilac Im suscribed your channel 3 years ago , don´t loss your videos , I enjoy the calm that transmit your music the landescape and all maples in the garden so thanks by the good job . Now few days ago I start my chanel actually feel quite emotional making some videos but Im not expert it´s not my area kind regards

Question - at 8:50, you show a JM in a rectangular pot, but you have wood 2x2’s placed inside the pot. Is this to give the JM some feeling of being in a wooden box to encourage growth?

I received Ruby Stars three or four years ago, such cute little foliage of dark red that later faded out over the summer. Then, the next few years the coloring wasn't nearly as nice, I guess the problem being that each spring I'd set it in the greenhouse as it was coming out of dormancy, actually I became so disappointed that I started neglecting the plant. This spring I decided to root prune and repot, also I have been leaving it outside, the spring has been cool and the foliage is now really nicely colored up, so now am back to being happy with shall tend it well. :)

Will this technique work on a 15’ Japanese Maple tree? It grew from under a taller tree and now that the taller tree has to be removed there’s a big gap on one side of the canopy. I’m thinking about trying to ratchet the branches toward the gap but I’m not sure if it’ll work on full sized mature branches.
