I honestly couldnt give a shit about the cost of the testing phase. I paid for it because i want to assist in the testing and provide honest feedback to assist their development. Its not like they are a massive company that has hundread of games bringing money in each day for them. So if it costs me a few bucks to help the development its fine by me. I am sure most people complaining about the costs spend money on other games for the exact things

hearing all this really makes me think ashes is still years away, they have to do all this for 85 nodes like oooof!!! My working theory is that they have the whole map done or mostly done, but still need to make all the events, the story archs, node stuff, and all that jazz.

After playing BDO for 7 years, and seeing THIS, I can tell their battle system is complete trash, and if that's trash, everything else has to be worse, this concept of understanding a game works for every game.

I really hope they innovate with quest text. We have had so many MMO's over the years prove that players just don't like reading paragraphs for each quest they grab. They really need some voice acting or some new style/delivery method. If they launch the game with quests that have a block of text like they showed in the bard livestream, that will not be good. People will just spam accept quests.

You are literally trying to talk up the shit they've been doing for years. First, this company has to pay for its employees? Wow, what a surprise.... every other company has to do the same. No one forced them to run Alpha 2 servers 24/7. Well, they said the servers would be available 24/7 at the start of Alpha 2, but they didn't even deliver that. They have said a lot of things in the last years that will be available at the launch of A2, which is not the case now. Another point is that no one forced them to announce the launch of AoC A2 for 2024 q3, at the end of 2023. They make hundreds of marketing mistakes and then they try to trick people into buying packs with fomoing out. As an example they said: Yes, we will close the sale for the A2 packs in January 2024. Maybe we won't bring them back, maybe we will. 8 months later they bring them back at a much lower price. This was just a marketing move, to push the sales. Yes, you have the skins and more, but a lot of people bought it due to fomo. It was the same nonsense as the reoffer of the A1 packs in 2021 just before the no-nda phase. Btw an A1 pack cost 540 euro pack then. Yes, you got skins and playtime, but it was a high risk whether the game would ever be released or deliver what they promised. After the no-nda phase till the current spot tests which started a month ago, there were no further spot tests, except for PI backers. If I could, I would return my package.

the "backlash" is exactly why you typically dont hear a word about games until they are almost or fully completed (while the company developing them uses past games and in game purchases to fund the project)
