Hey guys. My name is Dorian. I appreciate you guys tuning in to the vlog. I review and modify everything motorcycle related. It's important to me to do this with bikes that I've owned or currently own so I can bring you not only relevant content but informational and educational as well. Sometimes we need to do an oil change or customize our bikes. If I don't have it on the channel, I'm sure I have done it before or I can figure out how to do it amongst my friends. Everything within reason of course motorcycle related. I hope you enjoy the content and if you find the vlog entertaining or valuable, please consider subscribing. Take care and stay safe. Peace.

Ducati Sport Classic 1000s | LONG TERM REVIEW
zhlédnutí 11KPřed rokem
Welcome back to the vlog. This is the long term review of the Sport Classic. We've had this bike on the vlog now for a few years. The bike has been great so far. No issues whatsoever. I've been debating whether to sell it or not and every time I start feeling this way, I take it for a ride and remind myself why I bought it to begin with. Please let me know what you guys think of the video, the ...

For me the radiator needs refining....they could have designed one to fit between the frame downtubes or w.h.y. Also had old steel head and barrel shape. That is finned head wider than the barrel
Like from brazil. I would not cut de exaust, i would change it for other, just to keep the original Anyway, pretty sound.
👍
Good track cafee resers
👍
Bonneville 2011, sometimes it would not start, dealer says the switch is marginal. I have to pull the clutch all the way in. I pull the clutch already as a habit, it bothers me to pull all the way in. So I will "neutralize" this switch one way or the other. Also, this little "safety device" (safety against what?) can get you stranded in the middle of nowhere if it failed.

You're old school clunky blinkers look amazing. I've seen a few pictures online where people do front and back blinkers it looks like a z1.
I appreciate it. I tried to make it look as old school as possible.
Switch looks the same as Zusuki 1500.
Gotcha.
I visited a Ducati store in 2007 and walked out with the GT1000, the more rider-friendly version of this bike. But I remember this and the Paul Smart on the floor of the store. It was the end of the riding season and they had not sold. Nobody was buying these when they were new. How I rue that I did not buy both this and a Paul Smart.
I've heard the same thing from others.
Thanks for nothing tf
Happy to help.
I assume that you didn't do any driving around with it. I wonder if there is an appreciable difference in power with having it on. I, personally, really don't like the way these cars sound and it's the only thing really stopping me from picking one up. I'm searching around for some obscure exhaust setups that may suit my tastes as I don't even like the way the stock exhaust sounds, either (the tone and it's too loud for how it sounds, to me). Any feedback is appreciated.
They're fast for the money. But the automatic gets old fast. There's a ton of exhaust videos out there. I think they sound ok. The silencers are useful, but they kill any good sound coming from the exhaust. Which I guess is the point.
@@dorian_vlogs I appreciate the feedback. I’ve had plenty of fast cars in my time and I’m not chasing fast with this car but, I also don’t want to kill the power. The B58 just doesn’t sound good to me at all but I’m confident that there’s got to be something out there that helps to manage the tone of it.
This mod has mproved my 1200 Thruxton. I'm in Australia but not anywhere near a town let alone a city. First is a bit fast for off road. As yes I have to ride on dirt/clay/ gravel. These Bonneville bikes are excellent off the bitumen. I have modded the suspension with Tech Engineering progressive springs and preloaders and bi turbo rear shocks. The hard stock suspension, which gave great handling, only worked on city bitumen not Australian country roads, where I needed to soak up the irregularities and still have precise , secure handling.
Awesome. Thanks for the input.
hey! how's the visibility with that mk4 style rear wing?
No obstruction whatsoever. It lines up perfectly with the top of the rear glass.
@@dorian_vlogs thanks for the info man👍
@YutaoChen-1998 no problem bro. 👊
What are those mirrors?
Bro I wish I could tell you but lost the link. Aliexpress for sure but I can't remember specifics. My bad.
The Thruxton RS does not have the plastic snorkel. I’m sure it’s safe to remove it on older version of the Thruxtons. Since Triumph also remove it themselves.
Makes sense.
Ive always maintenanced my own bikes but the dealership i bought from gives you lifetime warranty on motor and trans if you have them do all maintenance so I'll take that warranty
Errmm, from an investment standpoint you should ride it. Stagnation kills desmo ducatis. Belts rot when they aren't being used. It's a rider's bike. Go ride it, people will pay over the odds for a well riden Ducati.
👊🤙
Why no talking at the start of the video?
Make your own video and talk at the start of it. I do things my way. Thanks.
great video!!! I owe a 2010, my gas tank is different, any other differences between your and mine?
Thanks. Quite a few actually. Small ones but definitely there. The dash is in a different location. The ignition switch is as well. The headlight is way forward on mine. On my frame, I have the welds to attach the fairing while yours probably doesn't. My clip ons are significantly lower than yours. I have a steering stabilizer, not sure if you do. Those are a few just off the top of my head.
Good riding. I just picked up a z900rs cafe. Was thinking about raising the bars up for more comfortable cruising. Think I should swap the bars out or just do a riser? Bike is nice how it’s set up.
That's funny. You want to raise them, I want to lower them. I'd swap out the handlebars personally, but esthetically, a riser is better.
To me, 16 years later, still more beautiful than 90% of the sport bikes today. Ducati makes timeless beauties!
Very true.
I love Ducati Sport Classics. They are the bike.
For sure. 👍
Don’t love it 😢. Thruxton 1200 wannabe
Opinions vary.
Thank yiu
You're welcome. 👍
I have the same problem. Except that it will only start with the kickstand up and clutch in.
Simple fix.
If you get the chance , ride a 2008 Ducati S4RS Monster .You will need a week to get the grin off your face.
do cleaning cars videos pls
I dont understand the market on these bikes. It's a glorified monster with an uncomfortable riding position.
I can't convince you and you wouldn't understand until you pulled up to a bike night on one. ✌️
@@dorian_vlogs I have seen them, and have sat on them. I don't get the appeal. Yea, they're pretty bikes. But not $30k worth for whats basically a retro styled Monster with a DS1000 motor. And the fact these fetch for more than a Streetfighter 1098S is ridiculous.
@gintonic8330 I gotcha. To each their own. But ice never in person heard or seen someone that dislikes them. But agin to each their own. I'm sure they're not for everyone.
@@dorian_vlogs I said its a good looking bike. But its at best a $13k bike, not a $30k bike. I don't know which hole these sellers are pulling these inflated numbers out of.
@@dorian_vlogs agreed. I own one, bikini fairing only, and I love it when people stop, stare and take pics. I rarely see randoms do that for any other motorbike.
Where did you purchase that pipe for $ 35.00?
Aliexpress. If you go thru the comments, you'll find a link that works. I don't have it handy anymore. My apologies.
Indeed it is! Haven't even seen the top of 6th yet. 👍
Hard to get there legally.
My triumph wouldn’t start and I swear this is my problem. I got a 2018 street triple and it does same thing ur does. Bypassed the clutch and starter switch and started bike straight from starter and it kicked right on. Pray it is cause im 98% sure. Fuses and everything with battery was good
This is probably the issue. Good luck.
Wish I could find a larger windscreen without that ski jump on top! Sexy mirrors, though
I hear ya.
I mean not bad? I wish I had a little advocate running around behind me with a camera.😎
i own a '08 1098..... love the bike. absolutely great on the twisties, granted it's down on power compared to today's modern superbikes, but it will get more looks than most of the bikes out there today. and a bonus it will keep up with most of the bikes on the street today. maintainance is a must, but what a great bike.
Old Ducatis look so special.
This is true.
Should check the chain tension in a few spots along the chain as chains never wear uniformly. The tightest part of the chain should be within specs. You can buy various tools to check if the chain is straight. That is one mighty clean chain and sprocket :) Here in the UK we rarely have dry days so our bikes get dirtier due to water on the roads and not only that, our roads are full of potholes.
I appreciate the advice. However, I'm meticulous and have been about my bikes. Chains never wear out in me. They get oiled after every ride and adjusted accordingly. Zero tight spots. 🤙
@@dorian_vlogs You're welcome. I just though I would pass on the advice another you tuber pointed out. Surely all chains wear unevenly and end up with a tight and slack spot after a few thousand miles even with maintenance. I oil mine regularly nearly after every ride and clean it around every 500 miles but I still get tight/loose spots. I do appreciate You Tubers like yourself though as you make life easier for us when we want to see how something is done if we haven't done it before. The roads here are more congested than over there and more potholed not to mention the weather. Americans are very lucky with the amount of space their country has to ride in and the decent weather in a lot of states.
@TheRealMaturecheese we do have pretty good roads. I appreciate the love brother. What part of the world do you call home?
@@dorian_vlogs S Wales UK Cheers mate
What a beautiful bike! So many carbon performance parts if i noticed correctly. I got my 2008 in yellow, its gorgeous too
Awesome. They're some of the best looking Ducs.
World’s easier bike to change oil. Try a Goldwing DCT - 3 drain plugs and upside down DCT filter close to the ground with tricky O-ring.
Wow. Nice.
nice ride and nice bikes Dorian
Thanks bud.
Longtime listener, First time caller. Ducati N00B, but looking to buy one myself. Can you refer me to a source or reference material on this “tank issue”?
So apparently the tank expands if you use fuel with too much ethanol. Honestly I never want to risk it so I always leave it close to empty. Yoy can coat the inside with some sort of chemical unknown to me though bud. My apologies. 👊
@@dorian_vlogsAppreciate the education. Maybe I should just buy a modern Ducati. 😅
@@ditryjerztrooper4915 😅 test ride it and then decide. They are pretty.
Were do I get the carbon trim
Couldn't tell you. Probably ducati or Amazon somewhere.
I just bought a 1092s 3 days ago my first impressions are it’s an awesome bike for sure could do worse mine is in a little better condition I agree the levers could be bigger and for me it’s a little small I’m 6’3 and feel like it’s too small but yeah these bikes will just go up in value for sure
Cool. Enjoy.
Subscribed. Great taste in bikes (and the car). I have a BMW R nineT and a couple of older BMW airheads. Figured I'd branch out for my next motorcycle purchase and these two models are the ones I'm most interested in. You just happen to have both of them LOL. I really like the current (and last) year of the Thruxton thats out now in that British Racing Green, but if timing aligns and I can get a Sport Classic for a not insane price then that just might be the way I go.
Good taste bud. Mine is for sale as we speak for 16500 in Houston. It's on marketplace if you're interested. Check out the other videos. It's clean as can be.
Most importantly, I appreciate the sub bro. 🙏
Less talking more riding
🤙
Better ride the twistys , i have a Paul smart here in France and enjoy pushing the suspension and work the Frame on the back roads where the bikes happiest Cheers ,ian
For sure. 👍
Using an oxy-acytylene torch would've been easier and faster
Probably.
What is the fairing here, if you dont mind me asking?
Factory fairing.
Ah, this is the Cafe? It looks different somehow
@@chiroptile2881 yep, you got it. Cafe.
Thank you. I am about to pick up an unfaired ZRS and was looking at some aftermarket options. Yours looks beautiful.
@@chiroptile2881 cool. Enjoy it. 👊
Hi Dorian, cool bike content! Where did you get the front fairing or did it come stock? I'm looking for one for my thruxton 1200 pure white too! :) Btw, love the Ducati sport classic! Ride safe!
Thanks and thanks. The front fairing is factory stock. White is the best color on a thruxton in my opinion. 👊
Where do you get the rear stand bobbins? I have a 2022 Bonneville T120
Amazon
*triumph. Those are triumph not Amazon.
Thank you so much. I'll have to get the swing arm style Woodcraft paddock stand. No bobbin/spool bosses on my Bonnie. btw, where are you located? I'm in San Diego, California.
@@marekryszard cool. Houston. If you're ever this way, hit me up.
Ok so after some months can you tell me if everything it’s normal ?
It's been about 3 years since I filmed this. Everything is good. The newer thruxton's don't come with that piece anymore.
I would imagine the air is hotter down there and that's why Triumph adds that piece. Also, it looks like the piece does not make the air intake smaller, so there should not be any difference in the air flow.
Makes sense.
