I remember the tower back in Class 42, May 1959: There was a regular navy PO 2 or 1 who couldn't jump from the tower. Eventually the instructor climbed up behind him and pushed him off. what is the application process like for OCS? What types of documents do they need (I assume transcripts and letters of recommendation)? Is the process very selective? Or if I apply do I have a relatively high chance of acceptance?

Relax, my heart rate and bp were high because I was so stressed. (for no reason). Do the best you can on the vision and hearing stuff. Be honest. and above all else, be polite! Be polite to all workers, from the security line to the folks running the desk at meps. They know what they are doing and you may find yourself needing a question answered by them. Yes, the medical 1 on 1 with the doctor is awkward, do what he/she says, they've seen plenty of jiggly bits in their career, they don't care at all. Show up hydrated, good nights sleep and you will be fine. Edit: if you are going as an Officer Candidate, things are a bit different, as in they direct you to different areas and ask you different things and every so often you will hear "Oh! You want to be an officer, okay we are doing this instead" go with the flow, let them know if they are confused as to why your forms are different.

Mine wouldn’t even marry me until he left military bought all his properties and spent his money on the properties and anything expensive. He left me ☺️ because he ruined my image with his friends and his bestfriend was uncomfortable with moving into the house he and I bought for our family. Even though I did everything he wanted. Just because I did drugs once and he had no trust in me I took care of him the whole house our neighbors my self his family and I had a job. Several hobbies and I wanted nothing but to make him happy. I did it. And only because I wanted him to have better things than to have the idea that to keep his own life pleasant that you have to abandon and destroy what you built with someone to make a life worth living removing the pain of a person who is your partner because that makes me an opp. Because a partner has less interest in your life happiness and pleasure than a person who wants to sleep with you or the people around you that want to steal your happiness or your money and even less than that. They want from you because they are nothing but a financial burden to you even though they support themselves financially and your entire existence is based on how much they want to give you for your life to be so amazing.

If there are certain things I attempt to memorize from Appendix Bravo, or if there are certain things I’m not quite at the standard I would like to be by the time I go to OCS, should I be super panicked? I am applying here within the next couple of weeks once I get my physical done at MEPS and get a waiver or two taken care of that I need, and I’m finishing my masters this coming summer, so I wont even ship out for OCS until August 2024 at the earliest. I’m working on getting physically prepared and learning the knowledge, but I have a massive paranoia that I will still be underprepared when I go. I mean, I know RDCs yell and put you on your face, but when it comes down to it, is there forgiveness for a learning curve during this process?

I was wondering where you went. I wanted to thank you for these videos. My son is now a Mustang. He made chief in 2021 and was selected for OCS 2 weeks after his pinning. I told him to watch your videos and they were very helpful, especially the socks! He was commissioned June 10, 2022.

this is too much information. this sounds like coming from a DROP OUT regardless of reason. This also sounds like a way to find excuses. She is clearly putting the cart before the horse. This is not like the Army Ranger 2 USMA graduates that got rolled through multiple times. Get it right the first time and not deal with it anymore. Retired (1983-2013).

Hi Molly, is it possible to get a chit to wear shin compression if prone to getting shin splints? Is it ok to ask the medical team or is that a big no no? Otherwise, pretty sure my son will be out with them very early.

I just finished boot camp in San Diego and within 2 months, I was at OCS Newport. OCS was easier than boot camp for me.

Young lady, great video. It is a great comfort knowing my Navy was able to obtain your service. And I thank you for your service. I retired in 1995 after a little more than 20 years active service. I graduated OCS in September 1980, LIMA Company, entering with 5 years prior enlisted US Navy service. Thank you for taking your time to help others who are either considering Naval service as a commissioned officer or are waiting their class start date. My two cents of advice to add onto what you thoroughly covered is One: Not everyone is cut out for this life. Don't condemn yourself if you just don't fit in. Realize it's not your calling if you can't fit in. I had a dear friend and classmate who was both highly intelligent and super physically fit who dropped out after 10 weeks. He is probably a millionaire today, because he said, "there's no way I am going to subject myself to this insane life for peanuts." 2. Remember all the insanity they put you through comes down to DISCIPLINE. A high level of discipline to mentally and physically prepare you for what you will face when you walk out into the fleet. I can't tell you how many times during those arduous cold war submarine patrols I had to "go beyond" myself and what I thought was my limit. Be Strong. For those who are called to the US Navy - it is the greatest professional experience you will ever know.

Molly, I'm with the best Interest for my son who has been with some decent athletic success. He's a three time NCAA Wrestling Champion and MMA with a couple of victories fighting for UFC. At the moment he is in Colorado Springs representing the USA Wrestling team for training bids for the upcoming International World Games in the quest for possible Olympic bids. My question is how should he deal with possible scrutiny and whether he will be prone to such because of his background. He has a college fraternity tattoo that I warned him against. Should he have it removed by dermabrasion? He graduated with a degree in Engineering (Aeronautical) with a minor in Physics this past December too and just turned 23 and definitely is hoping to attend BUDS as soon as possible.

what is ur job in the navy? I am considering on comissioning and my recruiter adviced me to be a SWO and said that it is on demand and that's the fastest way to comission since there's abut 70% acceptance rate for SWO.

I had the best instructors of my life at OCS and most of them were full lieutenants. Circa 1956.

I have a question for a friend: She has a college degree in Biology as a major, Chemistry minor. She was scouted and offered to take medical school for the Navy. She’s curious as to whether or not she should take it, She specializes in gynecology and wanted to know more. I know this probably doesn’t have much to do with OCS but since she has the college under her belt i felt it necessary to ask. Is there anything you can provide that’d help?

How does picking a community work before shipping for navy ocs? I’m prior enlisted army and for us if you went to ocs you weren’t getting your community (branch for army) until near the end of ocs. I’m interested in going to navy ocs in the next 2-3 years finally after taking the long way through life in my 20’s (currently 26, 27 in august) and I’m leaning towards eod or intel or crypto warfare (current comp sci major and I do a lot of machine learning/AI work and I’m planning on getting my masters in that soon after I finish my bachelors)
